No Puerto Rico welcomed america in for multiple benefits such as federal aid and citizenship, unfortunately now the ones that stayed got lazy and stopped investing in there own real estate so this is inevitable just like gentrification in the inner cities, smartest move is for Puerto Rico to declare independence and take care of itself if everyone is so proud of it…. No more benefits from the US and you can make your own rules! Let’s see how that goes

Still too much corruption their in politics it's not about the wellbeing of their people or it wouldn't be so many people leaving. 🇵🇷 Where I stand. Although Congress owns P.R. Keep in mind that puppets are installed in P.R. to hurt the Puerto Ricans. As a Puerto Rican, we need to go back to our roots, which is our identity in Christ. That's the foundation. We need to invest in our beliefs, unite as one, continue building together, and repeat daily. We need to block out the critics and keep focused on our goals at all times. Stay authentic to who we are, and focus on a collective goal AT-ALL-TIMES AND-DON'T-LOOK-BACK.

Disclaimer, I’m not an economist. Now here’s my opinion on what I’ve seen from visiting and know from my family there. Puerto Rico doesn’t have much money coming in, so when investors come in and offer money they’re able to make strong propositions to the people.
I’ll say this, it’s UP TO THE PEOPLE to decline these offers. Buy your land, build your properties, keep them within the family, and locals of the island. Don’t sell us out to some investor offering more money than your brothers and sisters on the island.
Investors aren’t always a bad thing because it’s fresh money for the island. Assuming these investors drive tourism to the island, then that means more money for locals because of increased tourism. But if an investors goal is to come in, buy units, and raise rents against the locals… that’s not correct, and be careful of these vultures.

If i were Puerto Ricans maybe make a law where only puerto ricans can buy property and if its investment then it should be 60/40 split so puerto rican company can benefit. Thats what is going on in the philippines but it is surviving. It will slow down foreign ownership but also the investment. Why is there no referendum on Act 60? Even if it's non-binding. Simply to get a feel for real pulse of Islanders views on this controversial tax break. PNP are the true architects behind this being introduced to the island. I don't think we will become another Hawaii. These kids today are much more socially conscious than the generations preceding them. Perhaps, we need to bring Hawaiians who've been in the forefront in Hawaii to spotlight this cultural onslaught of their beautiful islands. They might have lost the war. However, we still have a reasonable fighting chance. It's not too late. We're not like Hawaii where they're still figuring out how to save what's little left.
Have several of those activists come to P.R and warn us. I think it's a reasonable idea that just might put some spark in people.

Although since moving here, my husband has been very successful in the real estate market. It's a part of business when evicting tenants for higher paying rent or to build new condos. We take the risk and spend a lot, tear it down, build something new, but we end up making a lot. It's the same thing we do in the US, but PR can have better margins/profits.

So you rent your whole life and never look for a way out to ownership. You take advantage of PR being in a recession for 11 years with extremely low rents with no incentive for a developer to build new properties, banks to lend, or landlord to own to rent. Then you complain that PR is a colony of the US and should not become a state. But when PR takes advantage of its status as a territory and offers tax incentives and money comes in to renovate the old buildings and put them to their best use, you complain. You could also get tax advantages for building or renovating hotels even if you live on the island. Also there are incentives for young entrepreneurs to pay no tax on the first $500k. What is your solution or alternative? For the old lady to keep living on the $400 per month apartment and the building decaying until PR looks worse than it already does? Also who is selling the property for the blank check, a Puerto Rican resident that could also invest. Buying properties, renovating them, and putting them to the best use is a natural cycle for what is called progression. Otherwise there is no incentive to invest. You are doing more harm than good while your intentions may be the best. With your proposal, PR will have another 50 years like the last 15 with no progress.

The entire story isn't being told what about the bailouts of billions a few years back when the island was bankrupt and mainland usa came to the rescue , what about all the economic aid for hurricanes and infrastructure... The money is in the PR politicians pockets not the people. Why only 4 million residents when it used to be more? Most the PR kids I know want to go live and work in the USA.. Nothing is mentioned about the corruption of the government there or the locked up officials over the past few years.. All my native Puerto Rican friends say they won't move back and have even tried to move back but the corruption hasn't changed. The minimum wages for teachers and police are awful and unfair, Luma and their corrupt officials need to be replaced and social economic benefits should be equal like every other state including the Realestate laws there that are based on Spanish rule that is so old... All the abandon homes? Wonder why? Know how to stop it and have every since native want to move back? Make the laws fair, enforce homes that are abandoned to pay fines like anywhere in the states rather than take bribes with local officials..when some of the mayor's can buy a city park and make it their restaurant isn't corruption? Wonder why the mayor's all have so much Realestate? My heart and all my Boriqua Familia deserve better..it's so sad Bad bunny benefits on the tax breaks just like the Trump and wealth corrupt wealthy Puerto Ricans who are buying up 10 houses each but also are allowed to work for the office of Crim. Tell the truth and tell the whole story, I love my people and they deserve to vote in the elections for president of the USA and get fair treatment. Gentrification happening everywhere but don't blame statehood as bad I see it as the solution to empower fair rights and laws and regulations. I believe in the truth there are bad gringos there and everywhere but don't stereotype, I support statehood to stop all the years of corruption and I have hear the stories for 20 yrs from all my PR friends and family and seen it first hand. Fight the inequality in wealth gaps is where your anger should be directed so that the social problems can be solved for Isla Bonita and it's people and the environment.. Luma should give every home an amt to every family to go off the grid and choose solar independence. Or allow other electric companies on the island to compete with their corrupt practices

If someone gives you a blank cheque and tells you to write a number on it and you don't say £10 million, then you're a fool. They'll either pay it or not but at least you'll have an idea where they are willing to go to.

At least you guys know your heritage, some of what your ancestors believed in, I'm white(they have us calling ourselves white, we don't even know where our ancestors originated. All i want is to know where I'm from, who my ancestors were, what they believed in, and at least some of their heritage. I'm incredibly sad by what's happening to your beautiful people, what's happening to ALL BEAUTIFUL PEOPLES OF THE WORLD! Hardly any of us are living where our people originated, we've ALL been colonized, yet my people are blamed for it. Does it make sense that they would do it to their own people too?? No it doesn't, i believe the RCC is behind all colonization, and maybe the Jewpiters(not the good ones) too. We all know we've been lied to about EVERYTHING, so why do we still believe their story about colonization! We can and will Manifest our freedom back, we've been suffering from amnesia far too long! The divine spark of our creator resides in every single cell in our body, it's time we start acting like it❤

I’m sorry this is happening. I really am. I want you to know something so it may help you look at the problem with another eye. It may help you make strategic moves.
You obviously have the rich people buying up property problem. No question. The other front you need to be fighting on is the THIS is happening everywhere. The people loosing the places they have lived their entire lives. That isn’t going to stop. It isn’t and it’s not because it is Puerto Rico. My little city has the same problem. Houses in my neighborhood that shouldn’t be more than $250,000 are now $550,000.
In just a few years. I am in Maine. I grew up in Portland and I can’t buy anything here. People buy houses and knock them down put up something that looks like a medical building and sell it for 1.5 million but no one is ever in the building. EVER.
I went to the store yesterday morning and they were knocking down a nice home around the corner. It was gone before I picked the kids up at school. Seriously not joking. Only the foundation was left. The rest had already been taken away.

Or are you talking about business taxes? Help me understand please!!! There are too many taxes but just want to understand this comparison a little better. Appreciate all you do!
