The finished product looks very nice. I am with your customer, they have purple wood, I want that. Sad that you had some problems. But you managed thru them. Great job.
MK Designs Fine Woodworking and More LLC yes it holds a prominent spot on a shelf by my tv. I get to look at it a lot. I watch too much tv. Sports mostly though.
Nice build! We are building a new house and I have in my queue to build the racks for our wine closet once the sheet rock is installed. In my research, I found that many suggested adding a slight decline on the back so the bottles can rest in there more and won't slide out by accident (some drunk guest falls against the wall). Did the customer have any issues with the bottles? Putting together the racks will be so much easier with the spacers if there isn't a slight angle to the inserts. See ya in the KFW group!
When I was doing research on this project I came across several articles that stated both “incline” and “no incline”. I came across a company that builds custom wine racks and wine cellars. That is all they do. Certain designs had an incline but for the most part they didn’t. That was the deciding factor for me to not do an incline. Also, because this particular one was going to be open on both sides the incline didn’t make sense. The customer has not had an issue with the bottles. The biggest thing with not putting one on a wall unit will be making sure they are level and inclined forward. If you were to decide to put an incline on them, it wouldn’t be too difficult to do. Your spacing would only be affected by the first one. Each subsequent one would be the same. Your spacers would just be at an angle. Feel free to email me with any questions. I will be glad to help. When you do build it I would like to see pics. Thank you.
