Dirty Harry's Peak has a special place in my heart! I had a really severe ankle sprain in late November 2021 and was told I might not run again. Starting when I could hike in March 2022, I would go as far as I could up DHP and then come back down when my ankle started struggling to keep up since I knew I had to make it down. I finally made it all the way up in July 2022 after going back to light running late spring. I had the same confusion about where the actual "top" was, but it was beautiful and perfect everywhere! Last weekend I just finished my first marathon since the injury, PR'd, and had very few issues with the ankle. I credit DHP with a lot of that recovery. I hope it's the same for you!
Glad to see you're up to easing back into running after injury. I'm doing the same after some achilles injury and it feels so good to get off the bike and back into running. Best of luck as you continue to strengthen and work back up (ever so slowly) into running. You got this! Go, go, Allie O!
it is superior in all ways! And Broken Arrow isn't going to be in the schedule unfortunately...need a little bit more time to be healthy and fit enough to race.
Well Allie, you dropped them on the way up 😂. I have done that before with friends and they won’t hike with me again. Thanks for a great 👍 video week recap!
Beautiful! Just one tip: flat shoes when doing your Training in the gym / lifting is helpful and recommend for posture and stability. So better no running shoes.
Most definitely your best video since your injury. Very uplifting! I noticed more definition on your calf and thigh muscle group. Keep it up! BTW your new bike...not janky at all.
Ever tried inline skating? For an endurance activity, it's quite brutal on the quads ( if you are basically squatting half the time as you should in midcuff or speedskates. Speedskates also demand ankle stability. Could either use them all the time or not at all. Trying to skate once a month in em would rattle my brain and spine and hurt my ankles. No issue in mid height ones)
I started humming the old theme song expecting it to come on, and then it never came!!! But that's okay! I loved the music in this video anyway! Glad you are back running!
6:26 oh yes, here in Squamish, British Columbia 🇨🇦 we have this mountain called the Chief, and the down is suuuuch an eccentric leggie scrambler - it’s a good reminder that it’s good training when I’m gritting my teeth because I prefer going UP than down.
14:34 I’m totally with you: I always get dropped on the down because I’m just not comfortable going downhill quickly! That’s when I remind myself that going downhill slowly is more eccentric training 💪🏻
So glad you are able to run! Even walking for 1 minute, you still crush an 8 minute mile! When I looked at your Tuesday workout, the only difference between you and me, is that after 1:15 on the bike, I will only run to the refrigerator! That was great that you had a triple workout day and then paddle boarded. Good Lord do you have energy.....seriously, did God put coffee in your DNA? My only thoughts of your trail hike.....didn't know if that would be the best for recovering from shin splints, but on the downhill you were walking and not running, and you did very well. You have absolutely excellent cross training and are strrongg! I am doing a lot of cycling now, road bike and spin, as I might have a torn mcl, for which I had an MRI and see the ortho on Monday. I just want to be able to train for another marathon. Congrats on the new bike. I have a Nordictrack with rides from all over the globe, which comes in handy when in the Vegas summer, with the wind chill... it is only 112! Glad you are coming back so well! You go Allie O!
haha well my whole family is obsessed with coffee...so maybe it is in my DNA? Also, sending good vibes for the results on that MRI! Hopefully nothing serious.
heck yeah allie that smile while running looks familiar to me after my micro fractures i had to build up very carefully and once i could run again i was smiling ear to ear and you had the same also awesome to see the properly mustached up guy again i always seem to forget his name sorry mate its not intentional i love you as much as allie also running with friends and having a small burrito as a gift to yourselves awesome idea sadly there are not many burrito serving restaurants here i could set out a 26k round trip to the nearest burrito but it would mean i would have a full belly for the 13k back so im not sure if i should do that yet hahaha all in all a other awesome video keep them coming stick to your slowly building up regime and keep doing you cus we love it
"He's doing great!" "No I'm not!" 🤣🤣 You all are so lucky to have those trails in your backyard. How do you decide between elliptical days and bike days?
SO lucky! I just kind of do whatever I'm feeling on the day. Sometimes biking makes my quads really fatigued, so I'll feel like I need a day of elliptical to recover.
Oh I am so with you - today was 3 minute repeats with 1 minute recovery post injury. Grateful to have chiro and physio afterwards so perhaps not where you are at post injury but that totally makes sense because you are always out front for me, just showing me where to go. Way to go girl - keep on keeping on.
i’ve had shin splints since november. sometimes it goes away mostly when i go at least 15 hours without running. haven’t went more than 2 days without running and sometimes it gets very bad but never too bad. usually don’t feel it in the middle of any workout…strange
I had them for few weeks now and of ive been researching a little bit about it so i found out that it is normal not to feel the pain in the middle of the workout. But if you feel sharp pain after the workout or when walking you shoud stop running for few weeks and focus on different types of workout such as biking, swimming or strenght training. Hope that helps
2 questions... 1. What do you think caused your injury? 2. Do you feel any fear when getting back into running about getting another injury? I always lack trust in my body when building back.
1. I think that it was the added stress of racing and travel in addition to a slight increase in volume of training. 2. Yes, definitely! I'm always working to overcome this.
Elliptical, bike, hiking, running, weights...love the variety. This has gotta give you a serious edge.
I get so tired just watching your videos. You are constantly moving!!!
😅 Time to workout more, @Thomas Philyaw!
haha well this one also only showed the moving parts of my life! There is plenty of sitting and laying too lol
IKR. After these vids i fully expect to hit my step goals just by watching. Allie moves a lot.
I love how much you cross train and that plan is seriously impressive! 🎉😮
I really like these “workout for the week” video’s. You should do more!
And what are good lifting workouts for 10k runners.

wow, what an incredible and inspiring story! I hope that DHP can have that same magic for me :)
Hi Allie good morning happy Saturday morning and happy weekend and I loved your vlogs and you are amazing Supporter and I'm proud of you
Almost at 30k subscribers, keep grinding girl, you're an inspiration!!!

I literally was so excited when he got his life jacket hahaha
So glad you’re healthy and up and running again!!

Good luck with your return to running! we've got this!
Glad that you back. The hike looked awesome. Great gym workout i might gone try it someday.
Truly inspiring seeing your dedication! Another fun and entertaining video.
thank you so much :)
I'm sorry to be so superficial but your skin look beauuuuuu-tiful. You're glowing in that gorgeous healthy way.
Finally realised that you have a Strava account after one year of watching your videos… can’t wait spending some kudos ❤
I actually just got it 6 months ago, so you're really not that behind lol
That is quite a week of workouts. Can’t wait to see you continue to move forward.
I'm excited for the ratio of running and hiking to cross training to continue to go up...
Nice, entertaining episode. Glad to see you're keeping up with the hip thrusts.
I do the same- cover the time etc with a towel!! It’s the only way to do it!! Have done it forever!!
Happy to see you getting back to running, it truly is the superior form of cardio. Good luck at Broken Arrow if that's still on the agenda!
it is superior in all ways! And Broken Arrow isn't going to be in the schedule unfortunately...need a little bit more time to be healthy and fit enough to race.
Well Allie, you dropped them on the way up 😂. I have done that before with friends and they won’t hike with me again. Thanks for a great 👍 video week recap!
hahah it happens to the best of us!
You’re a trooper for biking/*ellipticaling* long and as often as you do
thanks for the gas...I definitely feel like a trooper sometimes lol
So glad you’re healing well!!!
Beautiful! Just one tip: flat shoes when doing your Training in the gym / lifting is helpful and recommend for posture and stability. So better no running shoes.
Yay! You’re running!!! So happy for you. I have that same bike and pretty sure the HR monitor that came with it is just for decoration, lol.
haha well that's what I'm using it for so good lol
So happy to see you running again. Best regards
SO happy to be running again!
Most definitely your best video since your injury. Very uplifting! I noticed more definition on your calf and thigh muscle group. Keep it up! BTW your new bike...not janky at all.
Being able to run again and having a nicer bike is definitely making me more excited about training and content!

Absolutely insane you worked out after that hike. Hardest thing I have ever done
Really? You hadn’t mentioned that yet.
I started humming the old theme song expecting it to come on, and then it never came!!! But that's okay! I loved the music in this video anyway!
Glad you are back running!
I know...it felt a little wrong, but I wanted a switch up!

oh yes, gotta get in the extra eccentric training!
I remember the Marta hug!
I hope you can run happily for a very long time!! 😊🎉 if not forever!!
same!!
Go Allie 🎉
Great to see u back running, loved this video and all the characters in it 😂
yes, the "characters" in my life are pretty great :)

@@allie_ostrander Maybe coffee is in your family's DNA...and many others! Thank you so much for your good wishes Allie!💖
Hardly back to run/walking and already crushing my 5k pb, way to go 😂😂

YAYYYY
I know this is a super old video but WHERE did you get those shorts @ 09:53??
So cool the boys went on that hike with you. Serious question though are there bears in those woods?
I was so happy they joined! And I've never seen a bear, but there might be.
@@allie_ostrander 😳😃
GIDDY UP 💪🏼
Did you do this much volume when you were in college? Do you think when you are back running more, the total training volume will decrease?
when I am running more, total volume goes down.
Good work Allie, you are training really hard👍 and im delighted to see you are back doing some jogging, good stuff
always a good feeling to be back on my feet!
quality info, thx!
thanks for watching!
we need more of alexis
I agree.
+1 :D
what bow flex bike did you purchase?
What shoes do you use? I am about to change mines and I am looking for different options
I use the Normal Kjerag
Omg "she's really good at running and even better at running late"
it's the truth haha
I recently integrated the double kb swing 2:58 and like it! [Can I give a form tip? Aim for your ovaries on the down swing 👌🏻]
it's a great exercise!
