    90’s Nostalgia
The 90s were a magical time filled with mom jeans, frosted tips, and, of course, boy bands. The phenomenon took the music industry by storm and dominated pop culture for much of the decade.
    Lil Pearlman
Let's start at the beginning, long before Pearlman became one of the most influential figures in the '90s music scene. Lou was an only child growing up in Flushing, New York. He spent a lot of his time with his childhood best friend, Alan Gross.
    Crashing and Burning
Pearlman took all the knowledge and expertise he had absorbed and used it to launch his very first blimp venture. He started Airship Enterprises Ltd. and planned to lease blimps to various companies to advertise their brands.
    Lou Kid on the Block
With a couple of failed blimp enterprises under his belt, Pearlman made his return to music. Inspired by the success of his cousin Art Garfunkle, Pearlman surveyed the landscape of the music industry and identified one band, in particular, that was making serious 90s waves.
New BBB - Brands, Bands, and Billions
At this point, Pearlman looked like an absolute genius. He was the brains behind two of the most viral music sensations of the 1990s and helped many other successful musicians gain footing in the ultra-competitive industry.
    No Strings Attached
It seemed like everything was going swimmingly for Pearlman and the successful boy bands he helped shape. The Backstreet Boys had exploded up the charts, so too had NSYNC, and the two star-studded groups were piling up the record sales for Trans Continental Records.
    Ponzi Pearlman
If being buried in endless lawsuits wasn't enough of a bummer for Pearlman, his whole music empire came crashing down in 2006. The FBI had been investigating Pearlman's affairs at Trans Continental Records and the label's parent company, Trans Continental International, Inc., which Pearlman also ran.
    Bye, Bye, Bye
But Pearlman wasn't home to answer the door. Big Poppa was long gone, having caught wind of the FBI's imminent arrival, and fled the country as quickly as he could. He first went to Germany to evade his would-be captors.
    The End is Near
Lou's company was forced to file for involuntary bankruptcy shortly before his arrest. Many of his high-priced possessions and boy band memorabilia were sold at auction to recoup the money he owed.
    Pearlman’s Legacy
The boy band mogul's legacy has lived on without him, not only due to the continued success of the musicians he helped create, but also because of the documentaries about his eventful life.

Nice companion piece to the 20/20 segment, which is even more illuminating. In that piece, Lance Bass described not being able to pay his rent or make a down payment on a car, despite NSYNC having sold millions of records.

TLC were completely broke even though they had sold millions of records. Two of the girls from Destiny's Child couldn't even pay their phone bill while Beyonce was driving a Jaguar. The 90s were full of music artists being screwed over left and right by everyone from managers, to producers, to record companies, etc. This is why the music industry tanked after internet downloading become a thing. It was Karma to such an evil industry.

Not to sound like an apologist for Lou Pearlman. But if compared to K-Pop music executives? Pearlman would be a Boy Scout. Yes he did rip off his talents. But at the same time he made them taste the good life a little bit. He hosted awesome parties, and made them live in comfortable homes. While he did cheat them out of their salaries, they did at least a comfortable place to stay and were not starved.
Compare that to K-Pop girl and boy bands who have to sign "Slave contracts". They are already in debt right before they even sell a song. They live in tiny apartments and are not even allowed to own a cellphone. They can't even see their relatives. These guys are forced to eat nothing but cabbages and cucumbers just to achieve that slim look. On top of it, they are made to rehearse 18 hours a day. The treatment is tantamount to human rights abuse the Korean government had to intervene.

He earned his wealth prior to becoming involved in music via his aviation business. He used millions of his own money to create these bands careers. They have lavish life's now because of Lou and had he not decided to create these acts, the band members would have never attained fame whatsoever. Period dot.
Research how much all the major record labels wanted him gone. He was targeted and destroyed by them, because they couldn't stand that he was able to create his own label along with the entire boy band phenomenon and they weren't able to profit from it. They even tried to purchase Transcon Records from him multiple times and threatened him to do so, but each time he refused. That's the real reason he is dead...

Sometimes Artist scam the labels, I've honestly seen more of that. I've been in and out of that business for 30 years...its a basic VC model based on 80/20 logic with a 1% expectation of success.

    Something uncanny just happened.
I was watching a dry, factual science video on *LEMMINO* and suddenly, apropos of nothing, the name "Lou Pearlman" popped into my head . . . so I entered it as a search and this video came up, posted just a bit earlier today (it's 1:50 PM here in The Corn Zone just now).
I watched a video on premonitions and presentiments a bit earlier, as well.
Isn't there actually a name for this specific kind of synchronicity?
Of course, it's probably coincidence - or, as the Skinnerians and Behaviorists say, I was probably responding to cues that I was consciously unaware of.
    Mysterious, yes?
    Regards,
    Kev
    ps.
I would have looked here on *Pablito's Way* first for something factual and concise on the man . . .
but this post came up first in my search, anyway.

I take a few issues with this video....yes. their are a lot of scammers out there. yes they use sales funnels...but just because an owner or an individual are using a funnel does not mean it is a scam. depending on the individual you can get a lot of great content, or learn new skills from these courses. and in APPLYING it can set yourself up for success...just TAKING the course will not guarantee success. which is something a lot of people don't consider. sales funnels are very valuable for online marketing strategies provided you can add value. doesn't mean it's a scam.
