Dr Greger's enthusiasm for cruciferous vegetables are so contagious. Once I had to eat about one pound of cauliflower each day for 3-4 days straight plus about 1 pound of bok choy each day, because if I did not eat that much, they would be going to be thrown away. So in just 3-4 days, I surprisingly found that some annoying little bumps under my eyes that had been there for more than 10 years, simply shrinked, dropped, and disappeared, and never came back. Sweet Cruciferous Miracle! God bless!
@@Goodbyeeveryonehere Thanks for the information. Yeah, these little bumps appeared right during one or two years of intensive animal eating. First time to this channel, and I loved the interview with Greger, who I have seen interviewed many times over the years, and recently on this subject due to the new book. But this interview is one of the best, because you really got him to delve into some of the hormonal/enzymatic and other metabolic mechanistic pathways, which he doesn't do as often as much. Kudos. I was then surprised by the level of vehement, willful, often insultingly combative ignorance on the part of a large swath of commenters here about what the data overwhelmingly indicate regarding the benefits of plant-based eating and reducing meat consumption. These recommendations are not based upon compelling personal anecdotes, but hundreds of actual placebo-controlled, double-blind, peer-reviewed research studies, which are Greger's analytical stock in trade, and should be for us all. But... it's a noise-filled, confusing world of information out there now, and a lot of people clearly are challenged in how to navigate it and see beyond their own biases. Good luck, regardless.

There is one that someone I met 30 years ago used to cure herself from ‘terminal’ cancer, she was written off by the medical establishment and given only months to live. She was shown a book called Raw Juice Therapy that gives case studies and specific combinations of plant juices depending on the type of Cancer. 🌻🌎✊🏽
I eat an animal based keto diet. I'm a little over half way through the interview. I like the interviewer's demeanor and questions, and I appreciate the guest's enthusiasm and level of knowledge. I listened to a podcast earlier today that I couldn't finish - not because I disagreed fundamentally with the host and guest (which I did) but because they were condescending towards anyone who might disagree. Absolutely great! Many points brought up are not new like the ones about meat, but the content is presented in a captivating way and I learned something about where to find autophagy activarors in food rather than supplements, and rediscovering the benefits of things like mushrooms or onions etc… it is great to hear something that enriches you and your lunch and dinners 😊. In Italy doctor Walter Longo and Berrino have been talking about similar points about the advantage of vegan proteins too… so looks like there is convergence in the medical field about this. Thank you for the great research and the clear explanations 😊.
Dr. Greger saved my life from a debilitating IBS. From constant pain to a normal life after almost a decade. And I'm just one of many. I trusted him because he speaks like a scientist, not like a fear mongering expert.
Great show. I am 67, a South Indian lady, a tennis coach and piano teacher on weekends. I run for fitness and recently won the bronze in the TCS world 10 k run with a timing of 1 hour 9 mins. I do the 100 meters in 18 seconds. My 5 young grandkids are impressed. I am a ricebased vegetarian and two years ago removed dairy and extra oil from my diet. I love local fruits and have a few beneficial nuts and seeds. Luckily we South Indians use great spices in our food so the only supplement I take is B12.
There is plenty of protein in all kinds of veggies (not just lentils and beans) and it is enough. Most people eat way too much protein. In GB that is a huge problem. It's broken down if you eat too much and then you put it on, just not as muscle mass. You can't even poop it out. It goes all the way through your system.@@doryhofmann3951
@@doryhofmann3951 Maybe she eats beans, which have protein. Dr. Greger said that nearly everyone is getting too much protein, even vegetarians and vegans. Sounds like she is doing very well if she is running 10k's at age 67!
Why wouldn't you just buy olives not in brine and why would you be concerned with salt anyway... High blood pressure is from being fat. 1 lb of fat has 7 miles of bñood vessel. It takes more pressure to move blood through all these extra vessels.
So should I take it that supplementing protein for muscle growth is bad for my longevity? Or is he speaking of excess protein being bad, meaning that, considering that my protein needs are higher since I train, a low protein diet for me is still higher than 0.8g/kg of bodyweight?
Great question! Dr. Greger's research was looking specifically at high protein diets and their correlation with aging, not necessarily its effects on training and muscle growth. I hope this helps! 🌱😃
He is most likely more relaxed because he's eating meat you can't get relaxed eating vegetables look at all the people that were vegans and see where they're at today eagle especially 5 years or more there is no vitamins in plants that there are in meat
I’m so grateful to Dr Greger for all his work. Incredible and informative. I like that he covers strategic eating and goes into detail about which specific type of lentil or apple is best. I’m one of those that wants to know because I’m a fussy eater and have eating disorders and due to health conditions need nutrient dense food when I do eat. I’m also grateful to this interviewer. He’s so respectful and open to growth and being his best self!
Dr. Michael Greger gave a lecture about the health benefits of mushrooms that I saw in the summer of 2013 and so on my 3 backpack trips with Shane I foraged and ate wild mushrooms virtually every day in the wilderness - and on the 15th day I collided with what I thought were just more common edibles in the button stage and ate a quart pot full of them mixed with my soup that night - fortunately Shane Gard opted out of the mushrooms for that night - he missed all the fun I had - but good thing. Shane was able to get on a hilltop and summon help - 12 hours later a Black Hawk Helicopter with the 101st Airborne dropped a line from 170 feet overhead with an Army Ranger named Al and I was tethered to him and hauled off to Steele Memorial Hospital for 2 days of recovery from my incredible high! I credit Dr Michael Greger forever changing my life and the added advantage of all his great info to increase my health and lifespan.
That's not having anything to do with Dr Greger. He is not telling you eat all and every mushroom. I listen to Dr Greger, and I read his books. But so far, the only mushrooms I eat so far are Lion's Mane, shimeji, shiitake, and one or two others. I do thank Dr Greger for the corroborating material and research he shares about mushrooms, but not ever has he been my guide or mentor to push or motivate me to go to the wilderness and eat whatever mushroom I find. In other words, he's not pushing me to be careless and stupid .
So that made you think he was great because you ate some bad mushrooms all mushrooms are bad all fruit and vegetables are bad all sugars are bad seed oils are bad you still didn't learn eagle you're hopeless
Love his rant about the “tweakers” 😂 I’m one of those that would like to know which is the healthiest lentil, sweet potato, apple, etc… doesn’t mean I’ll necessarily eat that one but it’s still nice to know! So grateful to Dr Greger for his work, it has had the most amazing impact on my life! I went from obese and unhealthy to a BMI of 21 and it was easy! ❤
No salt can reduce stomach acid in half with all the problems from that. On a WFPB SOS free diet. Lack of chloride. So KCl can possibly be an alternative.
KCl can be a good alternative for those reducing salt intake. It provides the needed chloride for stomach acid production without the sodium present in regular salt, which is beneficial for managing conditions like hypertension.

I’ll be looking forward to a mental health book. With Bi polar in my family, I try and empower myself as much as possible. Great interview guys, thank you ❤
Are you plant exclusive? It fixed multiple mental health conditions in myself. Plus bi polar is often misdiagnosed and is often a condition called sugar sensitivity. Hence it goes when we aren't eating ANY processed foods and only drink water like myself. I can't have fruit either as it contains fructose which is obviously sugar as is anything else ending in ose. The raw vegan diet that Dr brooke goldner advocates has even gotten rid of schizophrenia.
🥰🥰🥰🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦 We grate mushrooms for various meals - much nicer for those meals eg pizza, casseroles, lasagna (all WFPB of course!) We love the flavour but don’t always want pieces of mushrooms. I’ve also ground up dried shitake mushrooms for cooked meals.
If an athlete regularly consumes black cumin, hibiscus tea and barberries that interfere with mitochondrial function during 'off' season, and stops the foods before an athletic event, will he/she get a 'boost' in improved mitochondrial function that would translate to measurably improved aerobic/functional capacity during the event? Like the effect gotten by wearing ankle weights or a weighted vest when not exercising and then taking off the weights before a race? (Just asking for a friend, of course.)
Love this!! Dr. Gregor was my very first resource when I transitioned to a vegan lifestyle. I am a total science geek and I love reading his books. I’m actually reading How Not To Diet currently and it’s a super enjoyable read with the science blended with his unique sense of humor.

Thank you so much, Amar! I appreciate the kind words and support! 🙏😊 We'll cross 100k in the next 6 months I'm sure 😎 Wishing you all the best in your creative endeavors! 🙌
What rock are all you people living under this doctor whatever he is can't tell anybody anything he doesn't know anything but getting paid by somebody
This was a lot of fun to watch, I'm so glad you got to interview him! I preordered my copy, can't wait to read it! 🙌🌱
Glad you enjoyed it! 😊🌱🙏
I have watched every Gregor interview and I’ve never seen him this loose or candid. He’s cursing , I love it !
That’s probably because he’s eating fatty meat on the side without telling anyone.🤣
@@rockaboatus588Because it’s necessary for true health!!!
His flatulence was off the charts...had me in stitches😂
Flatulence go hand-in-hand with vegan vegetarians, their stomachs are a bubbling mess
Very nice work, really very excellent...thanks so much!
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 😊🙏🌱
THis was a wonderful interview. Thankyou for organising this and sharing it with us.
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 😊🙏🌱
❤ awesome 👌
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes! Please, Dr. G, get on that cancer book ASAP!
Yes!!
sooo good!!!
Glad you enjoyed it! 🙂🌱
Thank you thank you thank you thank you thank you. I am just a little ways through this in the chapter 4 and I am astounded 13,000 studies back this book. Thank God the truth is free.
You are so welcome, Robert! I'm glad you enjoyed it!! 😊🙏🌱
I love Dr Gregor and am a long time fan! I have to say that I think this might be one of my favorite interviews! Thank you Vegan Gym!! ❤
Love to hear it! We're fans of Dr. Greger as well!
Fantastic interview, downloaded the audible version of How not to Age!! Thanks Leif!
Fantastic! I hope you enjoy the book! 🌱🙂
A book on cancer survival would be amazing!!
Fast
Raw
Repeat
Yes it would! 😄🌱
...what -- you mean you don't smoke pot? Get with the proverbial program, buddy!
Sounds like a woke Dr. Lol.
There is one that someone I met 30 years ago used to cure herself from ‘terminal’ cancer, she was written off by the medical establishment and given only months to live. She was shown a book called Raw Juice Therapy that gives case studies and specific combinations of plant juices depending on the type of Cancer. 🌻🌎✊🏽
Great podcast! My first time watching your channel but following Dr. Greger for years.
Glad you enjoyed the pod! Dr. Greger rocks! 🙂💚
That's an echo chamber; that's a problem. I'm not sensing any of that here. Good show. I plan to listen all the way through. Thank you both.
Glad you're enjoying the interview!
You can't disagree with science and facts! It's not an opinion!
The China study.. Dr Campbell is a must to see.
@@helgakulkarni300Observational studies on diets are HEAVILY flawed, you can't call those good "science" and MOST are just that.. observational studies.
@@helgakulkarni300Except when science and their facts don't make sence😂we have seen that over and over in the past few years. Every body is not the same
Michael Greger's a superstar!! I'm going to like even before watching the interview.
Haha I hope you enjoyed our interview! 😊🌱
@@TheVeganGym I did indeed. Great job
Glad you enjoyed it! 🌱🙂
Dr. Greger saved my life from a debilitating IBS. From constant pain to a normal life after almost a decade. And I'm just one of many. I trusted him because he speaks like a scientist, not like a fear mongering expert.
This is amazing! So glad you're recovering. 🙂💚
Sorry but protein is major need and not from veggies
An 18-second 100M seems slow, anyway imho...@@doryhofmann3951
@@doryhofmann3951Some greens have way more protein and minerals than animal proteins.
You can soak brined olives in a big mixing bowl full of plain water. This will greatly reduce salt content. Only takes about an hour.
That’s a great idea! Thank you 🙏
Why wouldn't you just buy olives not in brine and why would you be concerned with salt anyway...
High blood pressure is from being fat. 1 lb of fat has 7 miles of bñood vessel. It takes more pressure to move blood through all these extra vessels.
@@erictuffelmire6826salt is a vasoconstrictor while fat is a vaso clogged, no?
I rinse my black olives to remove the salt..
You got it wrong you have to eat salt ridiculous people learn from the wrong people
So should I take it that supplementing protein for muscle growth is bad for my longevity? Or is he speaking of excess protein being bad, meaning that, considering that my protein needs are higher since I train, a low protein diet for me is still higher than 0.8g/kg of bodyweight?
Great question! Dr. Greger's research was looking specifically at high protein diets and their correlation with aging, not necessarily its effects on training and muscle growth. I hope this helps! 🌱😃
Ohh, thank you! Will watch it! 🤩 @@MovieAudio
Excess protien is bad. It accumulates as fatty liver.
I have never heard Dr Greger curse before, haha. I love the interview, he does seem more relaxed then normal, thank you
Glad you loved the interview! 🙂💚
He is most likely more relaxed because he's eating meat you can't get relaxed eating vegetables look at all the people that were vegans and see where they're at today eagle especially 5 years or more there is no vitamins in plants that there are in meat
Thank you so much for hosting this. You and Dr. Gregor are the GOATsss 🎉
You are so welcome! Thank you for watching 😊🙏🌱
Thanks for sharing your story. So glad you enjoyed the interview! Totally agree with what you have to say about Dr. Greger! 🌱😃
Oh my gosh!! This is such an amazing story! Do you know if Dr. Greger has heard this story?
Thank you for another fantastic upload!
You're very welcome! I hope you love it! 😊🌱
Great interview. I look forward to reading Dr. Greger's new book. I have his
How Not to Die.
It’s great! I think you’ll really enjoy it! 😊🌱
Huge fan of Dr Greger! Have his new book and excited to start reading it! Thanks so much for this EXCELLENT interview🙏🌱🥰
Glad you loved the interview!
To Dr Greger. Do nut milks also cancel out some of the coffee benefits?
I hope not
No reason to think it would. Dairy milk and plant milks have nothing in common but water
This is absolutely amazing!!
Thank you for watching 😊🙏🌱
No salt can reduce stomach acid in half with all the problems from that. On a WFPB SOS free diet. Lack of chloride. So KCl can possibly be an alternative.
KCl can be a good alternative for those reducing salt intake. It provides the needed chloride for stomach acid production without the sodium present in regular salt, which is beneficial for managing conditions like hypertension.
How can u not love this man he’s amazing!!! He Does such amazing important work 🙏

@@TheVeganGymA way you could help is look into what humans really eat and have eaten for millennium. All the cancers and ailments of today are caused by plants of which all have anti-nutrients and poisons to Defend themselves. Your knowledge is based on lies.
Love Dr. Greger, his devotion to science and facts, passion, enthusiasm, and care. Amused by the down-to- earth smattering of expletives in this interview. A doctor for the people.

Can anyone help? How do you spell fisitin or physitin in strawberries ? or ??????🙏
It's spelled "fisetin." 🙂
Hey this is my first time seeing your content, but I have been a long-time follower of Dr.Greger. It is fantastic that you had him on, and that you had such well prepared questions. I honestly would have preferred a longer video in exchange for you actually responding to his answers. He would take the time to give a great answer to your question then you simply say "awesome," and ask your next question. It feels like you aren't even interested in his response real-time, just waiting to ask your next question.
All in all, I liked the content but I felt you could improve this aspect of your interviewing.
Thumbs up.
Thank you, Andrew 🙂 I would have loved to go into more detail on many topics, but Dr. Greger had a train to catch and we had limited time. I wanted to be sure we could get through as many topics as possible. Thank you for watching! 🙏🌱
I see that makes sense. Sorry for the quick judgement. I feel like a true back and forth with this guy could go on for hours. Thanks again for the interview!@@TheVeganGym

Yeah, Putin called India "Curry Land."
oh my... what an astute observation!
What was the pepper he talked about?
I believe you're talking about "Long Pepper"!

Very interesting - and I noted the good effects of phytochemicals in berries and green tea and cruciferous vegetables as rucola, broccoli, strawberries ( frozen and fresh) and Quercetin found in tea, oniens, kale and kapers ( but difficult to find low salt version) and protein restriction to recommended 45gr per kg for women and 55 gr for men and zero alcohol 😊❤

Great interview guys, thank you ❤
Read " Brain Energy" by Chris Palmer. You will not regret it.

How not to go crazy? How not to loose your mind? Interesting!
