Geez i lived there from 74 to 79, wild place. My father was a shearer so i got to see the land. Bit of a nefarious place for those of us that know bit of its dark history.
Great video. Thank you. I recall going to country racecourse too McKinley and Kynuna, Cloncurry Mary Kathleen, Boulia and Mt Isa. The 70s were great out there. I am grateful for that time out there.
1942 Lyndon Banes Johnson plane landed in Winton. My grandfather fixed the plane he made the part needed in his workshop. Plane was up and away. Six months later usa arrives in Winton saying we want your talent - offered to take the whole family to USA. I have pieced together the nefarious past of real goings on out there. Quite interesting indeed.
Yanks having the rights for Australia’s unofficial anthem and paying for it. Come on Twiggt Forrest or Gina (as the government has no spine ) buy it back please
That doesn't surprize me. Lyndon Banes Johnson plane apparently landed in Winton 1942 and happened to go to Carisbrook station (where the so called Dinosaur tracks were found - I don't believe that for 1 min all a scam)
We enjoy your informative sharing in your vids.
My house was where the muesum now is. 48 Elderslie Street. I recall the old nuesum it was excellent.
Geez Mt Isa - what a wild joint that place is. Lived there too my dad worked at mines. Big open cut mine and town built around it. Excellent video.
Yeah rough and tough back in the day. 🍻
Winton Qld is one of our favourite towns
