Inspection is key. Our team uses various methods to validate authenticity with these types of dials. Given the provenance of both watches in our auction (both coming directly from the family of the original owner), as well as the history of the watches themselves ie. documentation that this is possible, we are sure this is truly organic to each watch. I wonder if people are creating these tropical dials. My Submariner is approaching 40 years and the dial still looks like new.
