In this video, I use these three combination locks to demonstrate how combination locks work. They are easy to buy and easy to open with a small grinder. If you know other interesting locks, please let me know in the comment.

I bought these locks before I started making the first lock explainer. So these combination locks have been sitting on my desk for some time. Before cleaning them out, I cut them open, learn the internals and make this video. I still have a drawer lock(wafer lock) left. What do you think about these locks? Not an expert at lock picking or even locks in particular but I like to learn how these mechanisms work. Let me know what kind of mechanisms interest you.

Loved the comparison across the lock types, I always felt like the dial ones had the most clever designs, I wonder if more advanced version have something like false gates, a way to trick pickers, like extra nubs to bump against.

Yeah, the dial one have more potential for high security. I guess it is why they are used in safes.

Pretty much doable, but i wonder if some lock has alredy done this, with square bumps, so that it won't rotate when force is applied to the shackle

12:00 to open it, JUST READ THE NUMBERS ON THE BACK! No need for picking! to make it more secure, JUST LIST THE NUMBERS INSIDE THE PACKAGE IT CAME WITH! This is a MASSIVE oversight! If you can just read the code, then it's like not having it at all!
By the way, you forgot about direction padlock, but those are less common anyway.
Anyway, good animations and explanations. Clean and well textured.

@Thesuper997 So true, no need to pick, just read the key code on the back. 🤔

Have you tried scribbling down the numbers on paper and then scratching them off from the rear sticker, making sure that the paper is outside whatever you are locking with it?

It is weird to look at high quality video like this, and see only 7.7K views.

Id say that the lack of a human narrator is a big part of the low amount of views
