Woooow, I was so stoked when you said Oscar Wilde was your favourite author, The Picture of Dorian Gray is my favourite book of all times and I have the same Penguin hard cover
I remembered when I read it in college for leisure and by that end of it I was like (other than the few spelled out things) wait so what was he doing all those years that corrupted his soul?
I really liked this! I too wanted to be Ronja when I grew up! 😄❤️ I read mostly fiction, and my favourite book is Outlander by Diana Gabaldon ❤️❤️❤️ beautiful love story, and so many strong women! Diana writes amazing characters👌
Love Outlander! I live in Scotland and met the main cast erm often 😂 watched filmings for the print shop scene, when Bree meets Laoghaire for the first time, when they filmed the Governors Ball or Richard searched in Inverness for Bree 😍 all the actors are so lovely and always take their time for photos ("oh hello, nice to see you again") and autographs. It's like a family
I have raved about "the subtle art of not giving a fuck" to EVERYONE! It was sooooo good! Maybe because I also just agreed with him on most of the stuff before I've read it. The part that hit me the most was the "motivation comes through action not through waiting for it to hit you" Ooof. but also a lot of other things were just soooo well put
Thanks for this video, I love hearing you talk about literature! It seems like I have a very similar taste as you with lit, so I'll definitely check out as many of these as I can. Also I have synesthesia as well!
Anne of Green Gables was the first book I cried too and i still adore to this day. Another favorite is Valient by Holly Black. It's a great twisted fairy tale.
I am currently watching the series and it makes me want to read the books so badly🙈 also because I see so many quotes by Lucy Montgomery and her writing seems to be out of this world🌱
I've read Eating animals to write a persuasive essay for English class and i learned so much, my copy is full of notes and highlights throughout the book because there's just so much to take in. Also almost everyone of your recommendations is going on my goodreads list they all sound so good! I don't know if you're into series or not but I recommend reading The Shatter Me series by Tahereh Mafi, it's a very poetically written dystopian series that I reread every year because it's so good ❤
that was such an amazing video! i was totally caught up by your enthusiasm that appeard when you started to talk about some of the books! i wish all of the booktubers, that are specialising only on giving reviews, talked the way you do! now i can’t choose which of those books i should read first 😅 THANK YOU for this super interesting video 🖤
I’m only 15 and this may seem silly but I really enjoyed ‘ The sun is also a star’ usually I don’t like teen romance but I liked the theory behind it. It had to do with the science behind love and the “conflict” of a biracial couple as well as stereotypes. The dialogue perspective between the characters also goes back and fourth and you get to be inside the minds of each character at different points. It’s very entertaining and I would read again x3
Thanks for the recommendations Your taste is pretty similar to mine ☺️ I am reading "Jane Eyre" by Charlotte Brontë at the moment, and i am quite enjoying it so far! I am trying to read books written by women or/and with women as their main characters this year
yes!!! i read jane eyre recently too and loved loved looooved it so much! although i dont enjoy "old books" if you know what i mean haha, but jane eyre is so good.
I'm going to save this video later :) have to many books to read still, but many good recommendations here that I'd like to read sometime. Thank you Gittemary for taking the time to make this video 🙂
ugh brief history of time killed me in the end, it got really too complicated for me... but was still so so interesting! astrophysics make my head spin round, thinking about space just makes by brain implode... so super duper mysterious!!
One of my absolute favourite fiction books are A Gentleman in Moscow by Amor Towles and The Secret Life of Bees by Sue Monk Kidd. I'm a big mythology nerd so I really enjoyed Circe by Madeleine Miller and Norse Mythology by Neil Gaiman. If we are talking Fantasy I cam really recommend the Shadow and Bone trilogy by Leigh Bardugo. Currently I am reading PS: I Still Love You by Jenny Han because 1. I am a sucker for romance and 2. I want to read more books by non-white authors about non-white people ☺️
I always enjoy hearing about what other like-minded people are reading. (Silly question: Is it possible to be like-minded with a sustainability advocate that one follows on YT?). Anyways, thanks for this one Gittemary, you have made some awesome recommendations for my summer reading list.
I wanna read the astrophysicist ones, Artemis, and Oyster Thief and prob anything from Dickens (only know Christmas Carol lol). My issue is that I heard too many books. I keep trying to declutter but find it hard to get rid of books (boxes and boxes) including books for children because I use to work in classrooms and certain supplies that I find useful lol
Hej, thanks for this! I love book recommendations! I really like sciency books. I want torecommend some ecology books. 1st: Growing a revolution by David Montgomery, 2nd: The reindeer chronicles by Judith Schwartz. Have a good day! 🌻🌻🌻
O m g (s) Ronja the robber's daughter (Ronja, la figlia del brigante) was one of my favourite childhood books! She and Jo March were my Role models! Also, Stephen Fry + greek mythology is seriously the bomb, and you can trust me, i am a classicist!
Thank you for a great video and super intersting recommendations - I'll definitely try to read The Oyster thief, that really caught my attention. A fiction book that really touched me and stuck with me is "Shantaram" by Gregory David Roberts. It is kind of autobiagraphical, about an Australian guy who escapes from prison and lives in the slums of Mumbai for several years in the eighties (I think), engaging in both charital and criminal activities. That book got me hooked from the very first sentence. A non-fiction book that I can recommend and that you might know is "Sapiens" by Yuval Noah Harari, pretty much a history about our species that I found really inightful.
damn i'm totally gonna read some of these books!! :) loved the book buy jsf! have you ever read jane eyre? i read that recently and really really loved it and jane so much! she's also a really strong female lead.
Hi Gitte - Are you familiar with Doughnut economics? have you read Doughnut Economics: Seven Ways to Think Like a 21st-Century Economist? I think you'd enjoy this and it's a great philosophy and idea.
@@priscillajimenez27 oh, it's difficult question 😉 the book is about the road to self-understanding, self-existence.. but in very interesting manner with travel adventures. It's perfect for somebody who is searching its life goals😊
Hy! Would You consider buying an ebook reader? I mean, it's more sustainable and also better for the environment... Also, those are really intresting books👍💯 Kisses😘♥️
First book I got blown away by ist 1984 by George Orwell, big recommendation it is amazing! Thanks for your recommendations
I bought it recently. I gotta start reading it!
Woooow, I was so stoked when you said Oscar Wilde was your favourite author, The Picture of Dorian Gray is my favourite book of all times and I have the same Penguin hard cover
Same, same and same! Found it for 2e second hand! 🌿
I remembered when I read it in college for leisure and by that end of it I was like (other than the few spelled out things) wait so what was he doing all those years that corrupted his soul?

Anne of Green Gables was the first book I cried too and i still adore to this day. Another favorite is Valient by Holly Black. It's a great twisted fairy tale.
Annie of green Gabler ❤️ hated it at first when i was made to read it but loved it so so much after I decided I want to read it few years later
I am currently watching the series and it makes me want to read the books so badly🙈 also because I see so many quotes by Lucy Montgomery and her writing seems to be out of this world🌱

This was interesting! I was also wondering: what is your take on e-readers/e-books?

@@angelikabatwoman oh I have a thing for old books, always had haha I'm just getting started with Jane Eyre but can already feel that I'll love it
There's a spin off to the book called "Wide Sargasso Sea" which is about Rochester's wife.
Loved this video! I made a list (added to my previous list of books that I want to read lol) xo
Very interesting! Liked the variety :)
I've been reading the Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab. So good and highly suggest for any magic fantasy lovers 🙂
Thank you for this recommendations! To read list just grew ;)
Loved this video! Your recommendations are so varied 💛
So many great books and so little time 😢
I'm going to save this video later :) have to many books to read still, but many good recommendations here that I'd like to read sometime. Thank you Gittemary for taking the time to make this video 🙂

Wow! I thought Ronja de roversdochter (dutch title) was something no one knew!! It's an amazing book!
Loved this video! Thank you so much for the recommendations.
Congrats on your book! I hope you can translate it into English eventually 😊 And thanks for the recommendations!
The 6th Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert is such a good book! I had to read it for a class but I loved it!

Needed a video like this! 💚
The Subtle Art reminds me of a book I started reading called "Unoffendable: the Art of Thriving in a World Full of Jerks" by the UA-camr Einzelganger.
I wanna read the astrophysicist ones, Artemis, and Oyster Thief and prob anything from Dickens (only know Christmas Carol lol). My issue is that I heard too many books. I bet you would love „A short history of mankind“ (hope that’s the correct English name) and the second part „Homo Deus“

Det var super interessant jeg ELSKER bøger men du har inspireret mig til at ønske mig brugte bøger i stedet for nye

Are e-books more sustainable than phisical (new) books?
I just read Courtney carvers project 333 and it was awesome

Books, my life.
Boganmeldelser er det bedste. Har straks været på bibliotekets hjemmeside og reservere 2 😍📚
Can you please add a list of the books mentioned?
yep it’s in the description
Um there was no sound for 18:40-19:00
I've just read the Alchemist 😁😁and it's amazing book, but the one that really changed me inside it's Siddhartha by Herman Hesse👍
What's the Alchemist about?

Ah yeah I must have forgotten to do the voiceover, but you’re not missing anything, the audio comes right over 😅
