- In this video I meet up with my mate Lewis to fish a small stream for big trout.
Our season opened March 22nd and we got off to a flyer!
We fished for three mornings ending with myself in hospital with a ACL injury, hopefully it won’t keep me out for too long.

I'm a bit new to the streamers myself but so far only getting small fish (bigger than average though for the stream). Going to try more varied locations. Very inspiring! ❤

@nymphingnewt7639 there was a tiny stream near home that held trout in the 3 to 4 lb class but it was badly polluted by cattle slurry last year, pretty well wiped out. My nearby stream is great fun but the big 3 to 4 inch streamers don't seem to work there, however I tied some weighted 2" black marabou jobs and they do seem to get attention when there's colour in the water and at dusk/dawn, some pools but others ,not! Only getting small fish, but a bit bigger than dry fly trout though! When levels drop I'll try bigger rivers, sink tip and unweighted versions 👍👍

Getting stuck into the smaller rivers is what its all about. Always throw up surprises and usually have so much character to the swims.

Pleased you enjoyed it, the perfect streamers to start with is the fullingmill fishskull head streamers in black, you will catch all sizes of fish on them 👍🏻

Great vid and great fishing well done. Just one point, wouldn’t a longer handled net make life easier? Say something like a Sharpes folding head sea trout net with an extending handle that can be attached to the D ring on your jacket so remains out of the way but can still be quickly and easily deployed.
Thanks, it would make it easier to be fair but I like the weigh scales built into the net just incase I want a quick weight of the trout.

Nightmare mate! Some absolutely slunking big trout in that vid, bravo! How long do you have your leader when fishing these big streamers? I tend to have mine too long tbh.
