  • Researchers at the University of Arizona Health Sciences Comprehensive Pain and Addiction Center are tracking the molecular steps that lead to migraine with the hope of developing better preventative and therapeutic options. One of the most promising areas of research is the endogenous cannabinoid system.
The human body recognizes the compounds found in cannabis because of the body’s natural endogenous cannabinoid system, which is found throughout the central nervous system, including the brain and spinal cord, and the peripheral nervous system.
Cannabinoids, compounds found in the Cannabis sativa plant, have long been used to treat various maladies including pain. The two primary active cannabinoids, THC and CBD, are considered exogenous cannabinoids because they originate from outside the body. Cannabinoids that originate from within the body are called endocannabinoids.
Cannabinoids act by binding to CB1 and CB2 receptors, located on nerve cells in the central and peripheral nervous systems. The activation of the receptors causes the cell to take action, such as reducing inflammation or relieving pain. When the desired effect is achieved, enzymes break down the cannabinoids, both exogenous and endocannabinoids, removing them from the body. The various components work together to form the endogenous cannabinoid system.

Cannabinoids are also found in broccoli, carrots, chia seeds, and many other healthy foods! I used to eat baby carrots everyday with my lunch in elementary school no wonder why I was such a happy kid. 😊

Using anything other than cannabis for the endocannabinoid system is ridiculous 😂. A smart person would take that information and say oh just use cannabis then! You don’t need a degree in pharmacology to determine that. Cmon now. Smokey was right. “God put this here for me and you” lol listen to Peter Tosh Legalize It and you’ll be enlightened on how many earthlings other than huemans like and utilize cannabis as well. I feel like it’s extremely immature of “scientists” to gaslight and beat around the bush. They know damn well they use thc 😂

Whoah this is so incredible that it is being stupdied finally. I have seen some clips of monks who talk about "getting high on your own supply" and not needing cannabis to feel the way it makes you feel when you consume it. This always made sense to me. Since i was a kid i could "think" about tingling something in my spine unintentionally and this would help ease pain from some chronic health issues i was experiencing. I am pretty sure i was sunconsciously triggering these systems and messages.

Why they need to look for smth different if we have cannabis ?

Because we still have reefer madness in the world and the phama companies would all be shut down if the plant was legalised and regulated. But what really will get your goat is that THC dominant flowers when they go to seed the THC turns into Omega 3's so we have basically had a ban on Omegas.

Maybe because you can't patent an existing plant without altering it genetically and so anybody could sell the remedy 😆 just a thought

Why look for other sources of cannabinoids when cannabis plants contain a wide variety of cannabinoids? i understand stigmas but come on!

You mean that our bodies produce their own "weed"? Is this some sort of genetic adaptation resulting from our ancient ancestors uses this stuff? Do other animals have this endogenous cannabinoid system?

It’s a natural design by God✨many earthlings other than huemans utilize it. (They) just can’t admit it. You see the end quote saying they’re trying to find another way…. That’s just a way to monetize a new creation. There will always be dangerous side effects in man made drugs. What dangerous side effects does cannabis use present? This just goes to show all curriculum is paid for and severely scripted (social engineering) as there are many more bodily systems we have and aren’t told about. (10% of our brain rubbish etc)

I believe that referring to this system of receptors as the endoCANNABINOID system can be misleading, in that it causes people to believe that the endoCANNABINOID system is built for cannabis, and not the body’s own internal functions.
Long term cannabis use is now being associated with CHS (cannabinoid hyper remesis syndrome), and is clearly a direct result of the use of the plant itself. Endogenous (internal) is vastly different from exogenous (external).
That being said, EXOGENOUS chemicals MAY play a negative role in the body if used improperly.
Simply put… I think that the use of exogenous cannabinoids (these cannabinoids being VASTLY more powerful than endogenous cannabinoids) can, at times, fry the body’s ability to utilize its endogenous cannabinoids effectively - ie resulting in any number of negative effects to any of the body’s typical uses of the cannabinoid system (sleep, stress, appetite, mood…)
Hope this helps. My background is in anthropology and so I’ve studied the anatomically modern human body extensively, and have also been in the cannabis industry for a few years (I currently am in the industry, and no longer use THC or cannabis as an intoxicant, but rather as a holistic approach to ailments relating to the cannabinoid system).

Scientists say that the endocannabinoid system predates cannabis by 575 million years.
