This train game is more puzzling than it looks...

- Railbound is one of those games that looks like a simple puzzle game, but soon has you franticly pulling your hair out until the solution finally clicks... (unless it doesn't, that last level was harrrrd!)

We love a puzzle game with innocent adorable artwork that does RCE's head in 😅
This comment has won me (a drop out architect) over.
When RCE sacrifices the strongest shape to write help, it has to be truly hard.
but there is the strongest shape. Look again
@@worldspam5682 I was only talking about the Thumbnail and I cannot see a strongest shape there, no matter how hard I look.
@@leonmuller8475 bruh, look at p. Even if it's not standing, it's still strong enough
that’s what she said
One could say that you're a Trained engineer..
train engineer
OMG I LOVED THIS PUN KSGDKSGDJS
Does railbound mean travelling to the rail like adventure bound, or, bound by the rails? Or perhaps both.
I believe its both.
Grammatically I'd say it means bound by rails.
Adventure Bound is two words, so the word Bound isn't tied onto the word, with bound being attached to a word I believe it typically means bound by [blank].
My first thought would be the former. However, people like their puns so I think that both are meant to be implied in context of the game.
It means you're part of the trolley problem.
I'm the case of the term "rail bound" in real life, it means "within the boundaries of rails", which also fits the theme of the game.
But unless the developer says otherwise, it's possible it's intended as a play on words, using the secondary meaning of "Leaping into the world of rails".
Great looking visuals, and it's very clever that they used the cloud cover as the transition method between levels too! 😀
There should be an optional thing in the settings where you can switch the train as thomas the tank engine
They couldn't afford the licensing fees.
The Fun Police don't like it when you do that, at least according to Trainsformers.
How's Jason?
@@adrianthoroughgood1191 they could have a colour switch option, that selects a second train model, that they conveniently leave moddable...
The weird part is he had the solution in his second or third attempt. But then totally messed up the rail by flipping the junction between 2 and 3.
give me a time stamp and which rail line to swap. i'm trying to figure it out.
@@takumi2023 i returned to work since my comment. But essentially, 2 goes into lower tunnel, arriving above the exit 3 takes. Connect that to the 2 start. One connects to the lower right tunnel directly, 2 gets delayed by looping round the opposite side to 1's tunnel entrance. I will put time stamp when i get home after my work day. The solution was on screen though for sure.
@@chiefkieran3446 I cant understand your explanation. which lower tunnel? there are 2 lower tunnels. what's 1's tunnel entrance?
Just so you know, if 2 takes the lower gray tunnel, it will collide with 1.
here's a solution: copy pasted from my post:
for the last level, 1 should go to either closest tunnel first.
-Let's pick closer orange tunnel (top left). 1 goes into that.
-then 2 will go downwards, merge into 1's track.
-then 3 will enter the top right gray tunnel, and will follow the same track 1 and 2 used.
1:55 when the physics teacher says that friction can be ignored:
I think the art direction of this game is amazing and would really appreciate more gameplays of it on your channel
For the last puzzle, make 1 go around 2 and 3 to the right connecting back to the train at the end. For 2 and 3, make them go to the left in the the tunnels right next to them and then connect the exits of the tunnels back to the mainline you used for 1. If they hit, make 2 and 3 go forward one spot and then go to the left to the closest tunnel that each one started at.
9:38 bro really said "watch this, watch this"💀
I think I understand that last one.
1 has to go through the top brown tunnel and connect.
2 has to loop past the bottom grey tunnel without going through it and then connect to line 1.
3 has to go through the top grey tunnel, which will connect it to line 2
you are absolutely right, that works!
I solved like this but flipped!
SPOILER: My solution for the puzzle RCE got stuck on:
.
.
.
.
.
.
.
2-7A
1 goes left into the brown tunnel, then turns right and connects to the engine
2 turns right, looping around its start point and connecting to 1's path
3 goes left into the grey tunnel, which joins onto 2's loop
you can't connect 2 to the 1's path. the connection between wagons 1 and 2 track is set, so the connection automatically makes it a 3 way junction you can't make a 4 way junctions it seems. (if it didn't it'd work).
@@takumi2023 I just downloaded the demo to check. My solution works, but connecting the four-way intersection correctly is a bit finicky. You have to draw a horizontal line across before connecting 1's starting point to it. Having the lateral track first causes 1's path to create a three-way junction instead of continuing forward into 2's spot.
Here's a more exact walkthrough:
*Draw a line from the bottom grey tunnel to the top brown tunnel, going between the starting points for 1 and 2*
1 connects to this initial line and turns left, going into the top brown tunnel
2 turns 180° to the right and connects to the initial line directly in front of the bottom grey tunnel
3 goes left into the top grey tunnel
Finally, connect the bottom brown tunnel to the finish
No this solution works.
You dont need 4 way junction. Just remove it, and reconnect, you'll get the 3 way junction you wanted.
I love the HELP in every thumbnail lol
If you haven't solved that last one. Take 1 to the grey. Take 2 circle up and around and follow 1 into gray. Have three go into green bottom. Grey top goes to train. Green top follows the path 1 & 2 into grey. You can also do the reverse.
Wow. This really reminds me of a super weird game I had on the SNES. It was a Thomas the Tank Engine game for young kids, where it had several different modes which involved like, slide puzzles, races, and a Track-building game!
The track building game, (The one that prompted this odd memory) was always my favorite. You'd have to connect Thomas's tracks to like, a farm and a windmill, and then back to town. Then you'd press play, and watch the tiny blue pixels chug along the tracks you built.
I'd always make the tracks as obnoxiously long as possible, winding around itself with wide switchback turns, just to make 'beating' the game take longer.
Obviously this game is higher quality than that SNES one, but it brought up a lot of memories from year's ago.
potential solution for 2-7A place rail direct from 1 to the caboose, carriage 2 divert to lower grey tunnel, carriage 3 divert to lower brown tunnel they should then be aligned properly and have correct timing as the tunnels invert, hopefully this helps
tried it. 2 will collide with 1 on exit. but there are other solutions.
The Almighty Conical Flask condemns Architects. May they rot in hell.
6:07 Now you're thinking with portals!
Love this artstyle! Seems fun yet challenging.
0:30 perhaps that ishow trains should work.
It’s gotten to the point where I actually think Matt needs help. His thumbnail are convincing me 😂😂
RCE actually beat me in other levels I couldn't seem to get them but the last one was fairly easy to me, just because he almost built it correct only rotate 2 pieces
🎶On a train bound for nowhere🎶
Without being able to test it, For the last one. Path for 1 bypasses along one side. Paths for 2 and 3 join the track for 1 via the tunnels. I believe it works for either side, but would need to test it to make sure. The tunnels allow for switching position of 2 and 3.
As soon as 2 exits, it will collide with 1.
I finally figured out 2-7A. It all has to do with the placement of what I'm calling 2,3.. and that's all I'm saying on it.
I also solved one of the EX ones in an unusual manner with a piece left over, and I'm very interested in seeing if RCE gets the same solution.
I also figured it out, it was actual quit easy and I just thought to complicated
I love these puzzle games that hurt RCE's brain alot, :p anyways nice video
Wait wait wait, you like trains too?? I love trains.
there’s a new update for Instruments Of Destruction
it now has better engineering in the buildings
Can’t wait for the full release too my guy
This one is on my wishlist since thrusday. Hope its available soon
So, RCE does Railway -Carriage- Crash Engineering now? Noice!
(and to be fair: I probably would have needed to give up a few levels earlier)
"Years of mocking architects and now I turned into one myself." lmao
New game!!!!!
There's a wonderful game like this called trainyard. I don't know if it's ever been ported to PC, but it's on android which means you should be able to emulate it
Fun fact, there's a game called unrailed. And it's a survival game for multiplayer. Maybe you shoud try.
You should do a video on Rail Route
7:00 incase you were wondering the tunnels connect to tunnels of their color
I really got a good laugh on this.
Instruments of destruction has now added bridges, so does this mean we may soon get more bridge reviews?
Last puzzle:
starting from the 1: Left - right - left into the left yellow tunnel.
From the 2: right - right - straight - right into the line of wagon 1
From the 3: left - left - right into the right blue tunnel
From the left blue tunnel merge left
From the right yellow tunnel just connect to the end
Just realized that someone already had posted the solution...
I was waiting for the architect insult. And there it was in all its glory right at the end! 🤣
Haha. Now you could play some Train Valley to calm back down xD Nice video!
A train engineer is actually the one driving it 6:03
I know it's weird naming
you need to make a straight line on the left (or top) side from the 1 to the finish, both tunnels have to be connected to the side where the locomotive is
the 2 have to go to the gray tunnel on his right, and the 3 have to go to the green (?) tunnel on his right
As soon as 2 exits from the tunnel, it will collide with 1.
Also, it's red clay color. Not that I can explain it to you. I never know how to explain colors to color blinds.
@@Potatinized it shouldn't, there is a retard in 1 square (since every part of tunnel is a separate square)
@@Potatinized yes, probably it's a red colour
"A game that combine 2 of my favorite things"
In my head: he is building a strongest shape suspention bridge
This game looks fun. I downloaded the game. it appears you can go into the tunnel at the same time. (bug or feature?) this might help solve the puzzle. can't figure it out yet
2:41 bro you can put the rail on back ,you have three rail and yhere is three block
Now you're thinking with portals!
Hint 2-7A only 10:49 was right and every trains pass same tunnel but only 3 pass both tunnels
I hope you enjoy
im currently educating to become an engineer and i just love your videos :3
Great find. Going to get this. Thanks for sharing.
I just got done watching you planet crafter vid and then this was posted- beautiful timing sir
0:04 Combining two of your favourite things: Trains and games? Blasphemy! You're a fraud, Motorway Matt!
I think you were onto something at the very beginning of having the 1 car go into the grey tunnel
Have you tried Loco Looper? Kind of similar, but more challenging.
Awesome game. Seems Simple at a first glance but it’s really challenging
RCE, instruments of destruction has a new update that adds a bridge map
There’s a bridge update in instruments of destruction
The art is GREAT
I love when you struggle lol
I paused it right before the third cart was even touching the White outline of the outro
Real Civil Engineer, you should try playing Stardew valley and maximize efficiency to spite all the architects
you should play capitain of industry
This looks like a fun game
This is weirdly satisfying 😁
Symmetry is a beautiful thing
MATT! there is an update on instruments of destructions and they added a new map with A Bridge
The tunnels are a red herring on the last one
Interesting game, nice graphics!
8:43 Trainado
PSA: Bridges have been added to Instruments of Destruction
In the last one you get 1 around everything on wich Side you want and than 2 and 3 thru the tunnels at the other side and it should work
I'm pretty sure RCE already did that, and even if he didn't, it doesn't work anyway.
I like the Nitrome-esque graphics
nice its actually working
Feeding the algorithm. Talking talking. Like and subscribed.
do you have to use the tunnels on the last one?
I hope you go back to that other train puzzle game
I guess you could say you’re a train-ed engineer
I’ll see myself out
Hope this is gonna be an app too
Need more hydroneer!! love your channel keep it up(:
Ah yes, self-shunting trains cars
This is the earliest i have ever been great vid enjoy the rest if your day
I loved it, hope to see more of it soon.
The last puzzle
Make 1 go straight
And move 2 em 3
matpat yourself on the back
It is interesting seeing Matts thinking process...
i managed to complete the 2-7A level, it's a little more tricky but i got er done
1 joint, 2 joints and 3 joints
Made my day! ^^
This is like the old iOS game called trainyard. And trainyard EX.
This is nice gameplay I love it, idk if ur real Enggineer but honestly, I like to watch ur content. Greeting from Indonesiaaa
He is. He was a civil engineer for a decade
I have to wonder... who designs those rail networks to function like that? Isle of Sodor Railways? :D
Leuke video
You either die an engineer or live long enough to become an architect.
Who I was hoping for this
Those are not tunnels...those are warp gates
They are kind of like the green pipes in Mario.
Dude I figured it out. It wasn't nearly as difficult as some of the other stages. Red tunnel is only for number 3. That's all I will say.
can you explain more on this? I've got my solution but it's different from yours. Would love to know other methods.
@@Potatinized im out of my home state and away from my PC but from my memory 3 enters the bottom red tunnel and heads out towards the left where 1 & 2 merge together and they all head to the right after exiting. best i can do rn.
I downloaded it so that I could see if I could finish the demo.... I can't do it. I'm turning into an architect as well
Changing channel name to Real Civil Architect now
You either die an engineer or live long enough to see yourself become the architect.
