Here's an idea. Maybe set up a bracket system for people to duel in different Yu-Gi-Oh times. For instance one person can go choose to duel other players in original Yu-Gi-Oh. With the OG cards. Or one person might choose to go duel another player in Zexal. And that person chooses 5D's. That way, casual and or new players can go duel in a simpler setting. Rather than ending up in duels where the person has a deck setup to win in the first round by making 50 moves in there first turn. That shit gets me salty man. I like competitive stuff, and love Yu-Gi-Oh. But man, is it frustrating when 2/3 duels I literally can't do shit. It's facerolling at that point. I'm a casual, not a hardcore. I'd definitely go choose some OG Yu-Gi-Oh battles and have a good fun time with simpler cards.
Look at me now, I just came to check a review after losing my first ever battle against one dude who brought 3 monsters with over 3000k atk in the very first round. I've played the physical card game back in 2004 and watched only the original Yu gi oh.
I'm stuck in the training as well, besides Fusion and ritual (which is a bit of a struggle) I couldn't understand ANYTHING with those crazy stuff like Pondolium or how it's called, XYZ (That I thought was the monster), Tuner, Link, Synchro ..
Also, I've had like 10k points to spend on buying cards and got SO MANY ? atk or over 4k monsters that require a PhD to understand how to summon them.
I've spent yesterday hours trying to make a decent deck to start, of course I couldn't select all those insane cards, so I've decided to go with the basic low atk/def but have nice tricky effects like destroy monster, send monster back to hand or deck .. things like how it used to be back in the days..
I'm still speechless on how, in round 1, can we end up spending 20 cards and summon 10 monsters +
I'm still hyped to try this game, but I would love to have something like WoW classic, Yu Gi Oh classic with the basic fun stuff!
The question I'm asking myself right now, are the devs aware of this nonsense at least?!
@@MohcineJabairilol. My man said a PhD to understand these effects. I just downloaded the game. Was going to try and get into it. I too played back in the olden times. Stopped just when they started banning all the good og cards to drive sells for the new, at the time, synchros. I get that they feel they need to keep advancing the format so things don't get stale but, from what I'm seeing from older players, they may have gone too effing far man. Going to give it a try but I am not hopeful. Doesn't sound fun anymore.
"please update the banlist" spoken like a true duelist. Legitimately a great review. I do want to mention though that not all meta decks or rogue decks are created equal in terms of cost. For example the prank kids deck can be made way cheaper than say virtual world.

I'm on the same boat but despite losing mostly online I been enjoying it and every game feels like a rush safe to say I think you will enjoy it and be hooked as I have been im a filthy casual cant describe the rush of almost winning to then lose a match its honestly the most fun I've had online gaming lately
The biggest issue you identified can be fixed (and should be fixed) by an in-game deck tier list based on ladder usage over the course of a season. After a few seasons, the game would have fairly clear power rankings data upon which to create different sub-metas in the game (like Pokemon Showdown, except not community-run).

Yeah, I'm staying away until there I can play against only original era or GX era. My preference, but those decks are so unviable today.
Gotta play Goat format or play GX with friends. I’ve topped many locals, regionals and nationals and I can tell you that the best way to play is with your friends. The more competitive the game gets, the more people try to rule shark you and the game becomes less fun. The prize pool for tournaments sucks as well so I would play with friends on simulators.
Heros are still a devastating deck today. They are only unviable because of their prohibitive cost really. You can make some horrendously strong boards.
I honestly didn't have a single clue that this existed or was even coming out until I started to get endless notifications from SeeReax and Rhymestyle.
I've really enjoyed this game thus far! It's got great production value and it's amount of cards to customize decks is insane! Yes it's shop needs fixed and it's solo mode has an unfair difficulty spike very early on that did piss me off and has a seriously noticable lack of voice acting like Duel Links, but it's still pretty fun to play and it's a godsend that there's no microtransactions despite it being a Konami game!!
Fellow Yu-Gi-Oh fans will really enjoy it, but it definitely needs to be updated and fix those infuriating spikes.
I understand the card shop negatives however you can easily craft the card you want that can unlock the archetype focused packs. And then pull from there.
Even then, UR cards are still a pain to get. SR cards and lower, no problem.
@@NeroVingian40 for me it's the opposite. I have 800 C and R cp, 123 UR and 12 SR. All the decks I am working on are heavily SR

It's the combination of the shop and the crafting. Materials are hard to come by unless you're breaking down. Almost no way to stay completely free 2 play

What this game needs is a 80 second counter for turns, you see I don’t mind people special summoning or synchro summoning for 40-60 seconds while I sit there watching but I’ve already dueled some people that summon for 3-4 minutes by the end of their chain you are dead in your chair or in another game lol 😅 Yugioh has always been a fun game but these types of board games need a Turn timer look at MTG
I quit yugioh after they introduced xyz, synchro, link and pendulum summons. I get it but it's just annoying to wait 5+ minutes for 1 turn to happen because of the chains. The constant asking if I wanna activate something is also annoying. For some reason the game lags in between turns, and you cant create custom matches with custom rules like legacy if the duelist. It's too easy to generate any card and deck, the solo story is annoying to complete by doing the tasks.
It would be so sick if they just made a classic mode

@@phyxiuss its worth it (literally stopped at GX) I'm learning things again, it throws a lot at you but it also has practice modes for new things. Finally learned how the dam pendulum works.
after playing since release and getting maybe 1-2 decks to kinda compete (i don't like meta decks) this game more or less forces you to build meta decks. the initial heavy gem gain ends very quickly after you are halfway through solo mode and some ranked matches. when you reach platinum rank you will realize that the only decks you'll face are the same all the time and nothing is more boring me to death then playing against the same 3 decks over and over again. compared to the slow gameplay and endless clicking and double accepting cards effects duels in this game become a frustration ending in falling down to your low ranks because you lost again against sky striker/eldlich/zoo zeus crap for the 5th time.
konami froces you to spend money on a shitload of gems to buy more packs and hopefully gain many SR & UR so you can maybe build more cards you need or like because the gem earning in late game is a fucking joke you are stuck with your decks for a long time and cannot play anything else which could win you duels.
i understand that this game is free2play and i clearly would've paid ca. 40$ for it but to get many SR & UR cards to craft what you need you'll need to spend alota money on gems. solo mode is boring and done in notime and has nothing really to offer except some useless cards and gems
if they update the banlist and increase the gem gain drastically you could get your beloved cards faster but what has it to offer after all?
That’s why I like Marvel Snap. Almost 5 months in and I’m having fun with my hybrid decks, and still facing other people with creative decks.
My thing about the game that drives me nuts is the damn grievers
On the Switch, it performed rather horrible, it always lags here and there, especially in the menus. Every time you’re back in the menu, moving in and out from the shop and the quest tab, it always takes a second or two for the game to be interact-able again, you know, the constant spinning, loading circle in the middle of the screen.
Oh! Theres a semi fix. On dock mode, change your resolutions settings to 720p. It legit helps . Atleast for me

They should put their time in making the best yugioh game just like Tag force,Yugioh tag force was so cool,there was a story mode,you could do tag duel,would be cool if you could do a story mode with your pals and have multiple choice like play tag duel with ia or friend or even both😪but the cross play was a brilliant Idea tho🙌🏾

Opponent takes 10 ~ 30min to finish turn and can summon full team on the field. newbie will be matched with lv 20 ~ 30 players. there is no way for a new player can win.
Theres too many ultra rares that should just be adjusted to rare status
I wish there was a setting where you can block the certain summonings methods. Firstly i dont get pendulum or link summons, secondly they take way to long to complete a turn. Like gimme a duel where i can just play fusion, ritual, synchro and xyz monsters. Nothing beyond that because it really ruins the fun. They need to remember Yugioh is about nostalgia for most of us, we wanna use the gimmick decks and character decks, we dont always wanna be otk'd or sat there whilst the opponent link summons 5 times in a row. Its really boring.
What does gotcha type game mean? I have never played gotcha if it’s a game.
Does anyone thinks that when you "win" under the condition of "connection failed" that the connection really failed instead of ur "opponent" having had their "internet" disconnected or go somewhere that the connection isn't good?
As much as I love MTG, the fact that they couldn't even bother making a MTGA port for consoles and not support all mobile phones is blasphemy because Master Duel has the same premise.

I built Kozmo for my first normal deck, then I set up one of my Jank decks I have IRL of all commons, and that deck in this game is 29 SR, 5 R, and 6 UR. So it's entirely irresponsible to craft it. Hahaha

Was having some fun close battles up untill silver rank now people are just making 50 moves in there first turn and destroying me before i even put a card on the table
as a newcomer to the card game and it's current meta (outside of a bit of duel links which plays very differently) it is awful.
just queue up with your starter deck to see how it plays led into getting destroyed by otk decks. out of 10 battles in bronze 5 i got 1 real game out of it. everything else was a otk slaughter.
i guess it will get better after a while, but damn if i dont want to have fun and grind a lot i go play warthunder.
it is really frustrating that the first thing you have to do to be somewhat viable is to look up decks to play unless you want to get farmed
compare that to when you pick up mtg arena, you get 6 or so decks that you can play in standard and have fun.

Looks like MTG arena like and that’s not a good thing. That game is very predatory and what’s worse is they already had MTG online and it’s very well done in terms of deck building (you can turn your digital cards into physical cards and get them shipped to you) but it shows it’s age in term of graphics and platform.
Can I just upload my real world deck and play with it??

Yugioh Master Duel is really fun but the combination of little issues have ruined it for me. First of all, gems are really easy to get at first but then all of a sudden solo mode stops giving gems, why? This means if you didn't make the most meta deck right away, there's no decent method of getting gems after you make a deck. I thought this was better than other P2W games because gems were easily obtainable, and there's no premium currency that free players can't get, but now I feel foolish for thinking that.
On top of this the timer for my turn going off every single time the game asks me to activate, even during my opponents turn, makes the timer much shorter than it seems. I've lost games during my opponents turn because the game asked me 50 times whether or not I'd like to activate Aleister the Invoker. Sure it takes me 2 seconds to click cancel, but it adds up when it's over and over and over again. The timer just isn't friendly to decks like mine which have tons of chain effects going off at once. Each effect should have it's own 10-20 second timer i think, and if you don't click it in time it should just cancel the effect instead of forcing a loss.
This isn't even going into to, as you mentioned, the ban list not being updated. The meta decks are so ridiculously broken right, and there are some cards you just can't make a deck without.
As someone who constantly battles people spending 5+ minutes on their first turn, I completely disagree

I highly doubt it, but I haven't dueled against u if you're a duelist with the username of "FAT_BOY_SLIM" ever since I first downloaded "Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel" from the "Google Play Store" back in April till today on "August 17" of which if you think that it was my fault that I didn't make a move on the turn that you surrendered on me; then u'r so very wrong cuz u didn't left me with good moves to make as a result of u doing the following:
(First Turn)
I normal summoned "Chamber Dragonmaid" to activate its effect, but u negate it with "Infinite Impermanence" of which btw that was very filthy from u cuz that card must only be used in a deck of "Cyber Dragons".
(Sixth Turn)
U had to link summon a "Link Monster" which must only be used in a deck of "Predaplants".
(Seventh Turn)
I yet again normal summoned "Chamber Dragonmaid" to activate its effect, but u negate it "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" of which btw yet again that was very filthy from u cuz that card must only be used in a deck of "Zombies".
(Eight Turn)
U had to xyz summon an "XYZ Monster" which must only be used in a deck of "Machines" and maybe "Warriors" in the scenario of the Continuous Spell card of "Weapon Change".
(Ninth Turn)
FUCK U MOTHERFOCKA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

@@juan.v9952 noo, stay away from link evolution, this free one is much better and you'll pretty much have to do the same amount of farming to build a good deck, this also has a solo mode if you want to play a "story mode"

@@AJ-ky7jd Duel Links is a shortened dimmed down version of yugioh for faster snappier gameplay. Master Duel is a proper yugioh game, full rules, full games.
@@AJ-ky7jd I mean legacy of the duelist was a bit better. I won't lie the graphics are nice and the music for this game are good but it's so hard to build your own deck with the card system. I'm legit struggling to build a gagaga deck because either I can't pull them or the banner they are in closes. And I have to farm gems in solo or just build something random

So it's gacha? Gotcha. It's braindead. Moving from YGOPRO and similar things, like Duelingbook, is slightly disappointing with the limited access we have, despite less supported sources giving us access to a ridiculously vast database. There are more creative ways to profit from this while also progressing ALONGSIDE player satisfaction. Stupid. Disappointing. Creatively deficient. It's upsetting.
YGOPRO is still the best in my opinion. This game just adds dragging ability

You can easily get a deck you wanted, I got Madolche and Synchron Warrior deck and i haven't paid anything. They give you a huge award at first if you keep playing
I mean, I don't really know what else you could have expected. The game, in real life, is a gacha that just lets you pay a bunch of money to get the desired result and skip the pulls, and that's more or less replicated in Master Duel with the crafting system. If they made it like YGOPRO and DB, how would it make back the budget they spent making it? YGOPRO, EDO, and Duelingbook are all free because they literally can't charge money without getting sued.
@@ColinNP Because the format for anyone who wanted to stay at home and play was entirely YGOPRO Nad similar things, like Duelingbook. They don't have the financial support/stability of Konami, yet they were able to allow access to EVERYTHING they had released up to that point and such, so I hope YGOPRO still trumps this crap.
Also let's not compare it to real life Yugioh. Vendors give out specific cards and even if the actual packs are like that, it's not creative in this online format. It's old repetitive and boring. MUCH more they could do to profit, rather than beat a dead horse with a stupid gacha mechanic. At that rate Duel Links is Yugioh Gacha Lite and this crap is Yugioh Gacha. As said, it's not creative and playing into ideal player satisfaction which is why it's braindead as far as I see.
This game is rigged keep playing against people who just summon exodia before I even get a turn....
People take forever for 1 turn! I literally played 2 teamdeath match games on vangaurd while waiting for the opponent finish there 3rd turn

Games absolute trash. Only for people that want to pay to win with synchro, Pendulum, XYZ decks. Also the fact you pay 30-60$ in micro transactions for decks and cards is a fucking joke. Basically a call of duty yu gi oh game. Cash grab with fancy lights but the nitty gritty of the game is bare, stale and runs worse than my Nintendo 64
