Really helpful!! Two suggestions: tape the window in place when you start so there's no chance of it falling down and unwinding the regulator cable when you pull the motor off, and if you remove the stereo speaker, you can put your hand in the cavity and hold the cable reel of the regulator in place when you pull the motor off and put it back on - then you don't have to be as careful putting the motor back on. This was great - thank you so much!!
I want to extend my gratitude for producing such a valuable video! I followed your instructions to repair my vehicle's window successfully. Can't go wrong saving a few hundred bucks for 30min of work!
I know this an old video, but I just want to thank you for this video. I replaced my drivers side a couple of years ago with your guidance in this video and today, the passenger side. Total cost for parts (including the tool kit and both motors) was just over $60 bucks on Amazon and total time to replace both was around an hour, if not a little less. Thanks!!
With your instruction, I replaced both the drivers and passengers side and saved atleast $1000. Thank you! Just a tip, I actually found that I didn't have to disconnect the door panel wiring. Just gently rest the panel on the ground.
Alexa Salazar, Thank you. Very helpful. I'm doing "research" for a problem I had/still have. Had passenger window motor replaced at a Mazda dealer (2014 CX-9.) Shortly afterwards, first time I used passenger door, the handle felt off/different. Wouldn't spring back as usual. But it still worked. I called Mazda dealer & explained the issue. Was told they'd make a notation in my chart & since it was technically (at that time) still functioning, they'd take care of it at next appt. Next service appt, I reminded them about the handle/call/notes & surprise surprise NO NOTES! I explained what occurred to the brand new service dept. manager. He & a mechanic looked at it. Well, they grabbed, pulled, yanked & slammed it a few times, while telling me "There's NO WAY we broke it while replacing window motor. We didn't even touch the handle." Quoted $300 + to fix "little plastic thing inside." At this point, I was beyond pist off! Told them to STOP manhandling it before they broke something else!! My QUESTION to you, or anyone that may read this is, What do you think about what they said? I swear the door was working just fine before they fixed the window! QUESTION 2- any idea What little plastic thing might they be talking about? I've had another issues with the lock, since then. Sometimes it'll lock, other times it won't. Sometimes it will unlock, other times it won't! It's very frustrating to deal with car not working properly, but it's INFURIATING to be treated like a dumb blonde clueless girl that can be taken advantage of & sold blinker fluid! Thanks again for the informative video. I see STEP ONE: unscrew handle, so obviously the statement made by MGR. About not touching it is FALSE!
Yo, thanks! Saved me a bundle . Only hard part was the spool fell into the door well. Helps to move the window a bit down to fit the motor in the spool. Thanks
Oh man. You are a champ. I was given a quote of 650 aud. Got the motor in 267 aud +70 aud for tools= total cost 340 and tools in balance. Changed it myself in hardly 25 mins 🤗
great vids, thanks to share. I'll try on my 2010 tomorrow and search the problem, dealer charge me over $200 to replace the window motor, but I dont think have to replace the whole motor since it still work, just need to push down or pull out the window glass to open and close, annoying.
To Jammin Dave....or anyone else who has the same problem! If your passenger window doesn't operate from the drivers side control....before you do anything drastic try this. I did and it worked for me! You don't even have to take the door panel off! Turn ignition to "ON". Roll down the passenger window (from the passenger side) all the way down and back up.... hold the button for 3 seconds. Repeat with the drivers side window (up, down, back up again, hold 3 seconds. Now repeat the procedure from the drivers side with BOTH buttons simultaneously! I found this procedure on another site and thought I would share.....
Excellent step by step repair video.. thank you. I called the dealer and they wanted to charge $550. I have both Driver and Passenger side motor that needs replacing. I got the motors from Amazon and will be attempting to replace it this week. Thanks again.... if this works I can save almost $1200..
One more step: if auto roll doesn't work after replacing the motor, you need to calibrate it (roll window up and keep holding for 3 extra seconds). Very useful tutorial, thanks!
Excellent video, that is the word to explain this helpfull video. Many Thanks. Or the speaker that I wish to replace soon. The camara guy did a great job, was cool all the way to get the better pictures. Best Regards!!!!!
This video was a life saver! Thanks so much for taking the time to create and post this. I was able to replace my window motor with your instructions and not have to pay big money at a car shop. Couple of items I would add for any just needing to replace the window motor is to rest the door panel on a box or stool so you don't have to disconnect those three tricky electrical connections. There's plenty of space to disconnect the motor lead and get a wrench in to take out the 3 motor bolts with those wires still connected. Also, I didn't need to take out the door light piece either. Thanks again!
Thanks for this video. I replaced the motor on my wife's 2013 CX-9. T he window needed assistance going up or down about 1/3 from top. Didn't see anything broken or cracked on the motor gear but it fixed issue.
Great tutorial! I needed to replace the keyless entry button on the handle, but absolutely needed the first half of your video to get the panel off without damaging anything.
I couldn't have done it any better! Bravo! Worthy video that is not only user friendly, informative, but video and audio were outstanding quality! I look forward to more worthy DIY tips!!! I can''t thank you enough!
Terrific video! Work was executed expertly and your video was easy and clear to follow. Thanks for taking the time to make, it you saved me a lot of money. I did it right along with you and start to finish was only 40 min. Make more videos, nice job!
My brother!! Thank you so much. And you were correct. I did it in less than one hour! And wouldn’t you know it.... yesterday my driver side motor is going out now. But with this video helping me on the passenger side... it will be a piece of cake. And I’ll save around $500 on each one since motor only costed me $50 on Amazon!
This saved me a ton of money fixing my 2011 CX-9 because my door handle broke off and then both window motors failed within 12 months of each other. Got all the tools he recommended and fixed everything over the course of 2 days. Extra day because I had to get window regulator from auto parts store. Stealer ship was asking for ridiculous amount of money to fix it all. Thanks brother!
Thanks a bunch man. With help of your video, the job became so easy. One comment: I used a small stool with back to have the panel lean on, then no need to disconnect those wires, which made my job super easy.
These steps WORK!!! I was quoted from Safelite $599. I found both the driver and passenger side motors for $78 total on Amazon. $5.99 for the trim removal tools from Harbor Freight. Took me a total time of 45 minutes for both sides. I do not work on cars. I did it on a 2010 Mazda CX-9 Grand Touring. The only thing I didn't do was move the door handle through the panel. I found enough room to work with it still attached.
I just finished the driver's side, passenger side tomorrow. Great info, thanks a million. Glad I bought extra clips, several broke while removing the door panel.
THANK YOU SO MUCH for this video. I was done in an hour. Be patient when you replace the motor. THis great tutorial will walk you through the steps. Good luck.
FYI: If you happen to push the gear pulley from the motor regulator into the door, which is very easy to do, don't panic. Just take out the stereo speaker (4 screws - easy) and then you'll be able to get your hand behind and hold the regulator pulley in place while getting a few screws in.
I'll commend you Sir! very well done Sir. I have a cx7 2007, the passenger side window stopped working out of my command driver side section. It works out of its independent passenger side power window command but, like I said, It stop working out of my command driver side section. Any ideas? Could it be I need to change the motor that controls both the driver and passenger side? My driver side and back power windows are to be working in perfect condition. I already asked "pfun41" but there was not a direct answer. Nice video!
Thanks a lot. This video is very easy to follow. Unfortunately I couldn’t take out three plugs, so I supported panel on the stand and replaced motor. Wasn’t hard. Again thanks.
I know I`m commenting on old post. just wanted to let any one know that if your motor is working but gets stuck in certain positions, it is probably just the plastic gears bad in the motor. I found the repair kit on ebay while searching for a motor. it only cost about $14 instead of the $100 or so for the whole motor and did the job in about 30 minutes. There were some for around $5-$6 but they were coming from china and would take about a month to get and i didn`t want to wait that long.
Just did this today - $9.27 instead of $600.00 - awesome. One step further though. I replaced the gear inside the motor - did not have to replace the entire motor.
VERY well done video. I am no noobie working on cars, I just hate trying to figure out where all the hidden clips and push-pins are, this video made it extremely easy to do since I could see everything ahead of time...THANKS!!
My driver side window is very slow to respond when I hit the power button and when it does go down, it goes all the way and takes literally 20 minutes of me hitting the switch to get it back up. Could a replacement in the switch motor be the answer? Mazda wants to charge me hundreds just to diagnose it and if I know what the issue is, myself and my husband can do this at home together to replace the motor.
I have similar problem, with the passenger one, window doesnt want to roll up, or stays in the middle, but i can hear the motor working. Is it the actual motor or the regulator?
Si colocas los dedos en el 1 y el 2 bajas ambos cristales y subes ambos a la vez, cuando baje nuevamente y lo vuelvas a hacer de un solo toque subirá solo.
Awesome video man! Great explanation and video quality, step-by-step procedure, and the warnings of what you don't want to do to lose that disc for the window regulator. I bet you saved a bunch of people money on swapping that motor, or even just swapping the speakers out in the doors.
Thank you for posting this. The dealer wanted $589 and I would have to be without my car for a day or two. So that would have been more on the rental. I did the work in 30 min. I did replace the motor I just replaced the gear inside the motor. $15 . Thank again good video.
This was awesome. I’m a woman. Was able to do this myself in about half an hour. But only because of this video. Made it so easy!!
Really helpful!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!! Just replaced both R and L motors. You just saved me 1200$
God Bless..
I appreciate this. Saved myself a bunch of money.
Outstanding video! Would only add to pick up a box of the plastic clips to replace any that do break.
Thank you for taking the time to record this fix. Great job!!
Thank you for making this video! You saved me a lot of time and money.
Great Video! Replaced motor in less than 20 min.

p.s. get those inexpensive tools he recommended they make a huge difference
So helpful thank you so much, as well as the automatic roll up/down calibration. Much appreciated
Thank you so much. Fantastically helpful

@Alexa Salazar Where did you find the motor from? I need one for a 2013 Mazda CX9 passenger door.
I went to the Mazda. What is the price , $150.00
And the job, $200.00.
Me, Amazon. $30.00 part.
My job, 10 minute. Perfect.

Dealers are scammers no need to mention lol
Just did this today - $9.27 instead of $600.00 - awesome. One step further though. I replaced the gear inside the motor - did not have to replace the entire motor.
Thank you for posting the video, spot on instructions that allowed me to do my own job, I appreciate you taking the time to provide your expertise.
VERY well done video. I am no noobie working on cars, I just hate trying to figure out where all the hidden clips and push-pins are, this video made it extremely easy to do since I could see everything ahead of time...THANKS!!
gonna try this out this weekend. my 4th project. seems easy enough. thanks for the video. Massively helpful!!!

Thanks to your step by step video, I have the cx9 2014, now I am ready if it happen, save $600 yea!
You are a badass i have used your video twice to replace the same motor. I was cheap and did not use OME. Damn you have saved me about 1200 bucks.
Thank you... my window motor is working but the gear inside it is damaged.
your video will help me doing the job and save some money.
You sir a world class champion !!!! - still haven't fixed it but its so easy when you know how to do it.
You're a legend Mate! Saved me a trip to the mechanics. Cheers from Woy Woy, Australia
Great video thank you very much. I think the gear is bad on my daughters cx9. replacing it soon.
I have similar problem, with the passenger one, window doesnt want to roll up, or stays in the middle, but i can hear the motor working. Is it the actual motor or the regulator?
Thanks. Do you happen to know how I replace the little glowing lights in the drivers door that shows if the windows are locked or unlocked?
Si colocas los dedos en el 1 y el 2 bajas ambos cristales y subes ambos a la vez, cuando baje nuevamente y lo vuelvas a hacer de un solo toque subirá solo.
I am still using this video to replace the motor in my CX-9 this is my third replacement.. they seem to last about a couple of years.
Great! And thanks for showing how to disconnect the electrical plugs, because these can be a B!!
Great video! I did pay over $600. to have this done at a Mazda dealership. I should have watched this first.
Please make video for 2010 mazda cx 9 lift gate pannel removal
Thank you, for your video.... i was able to fix my window and save hundreds of dollars.
I am changing the inside parts of the motor itself since the motor always have no issue but the wheels broken several time .
Awesome video man! Great explanation and video quality, step-by-step procedure, and the warnings of what you don't want to do to lose that disc for the window regulator. I bet you saved a bunch of people money on swapping that motor, or even just swapping the speakers out in the doors.
This video was awesome. Had this motor replaced in less than a half an hour and for under $40!
Thanks buddy watched your video show me exactly what I need to do say to $600 much appreciated
Thank you for the clear instructions. This is the best video I found on UA-cam.
Thanks for posting, have to do this on my wife's cx9 this weekend
Thank you for this step by step vid. Very helpful and concise.
Thank you for posting this. The dealer wanted $589 and I would have to be without my car for a day or two. So that would have been more on the rental. I did the work in 30 min. I did replace the motor I just replaced the gear inside the motor. $15 . Thank again good video.
From Amazon, but it was shipped from another company.
Great vid! Now I can move forward in replacing the window switch assembly....nice work!
Thank you very much, valuable information
I gotta do this for both front windows on my wife’s CX9 😑 is it common that Mazda’s motor window goes bad ? Thanks for the great tutorial amigo.
I have a 2010 Mazda. I’m the only owner. Went 9 years without problems then both front windows failed within a few months of each other.
