The reason why I like defensor/Bruticus is they have a diverse combining team. Each limb is a different vehicle so figure wise your getting something different between each limb figure. Also that in recent years we got a really good Bruticus and the MMC defensor looks very promising
That is interesting, they both have themes while being much less mono Function than say Devestator, or Menasor.
I love Surperion, he’s my favourite combiner. But like, 4/5 of them are basically the same guy
big fun fact: in my transformers universe, metroplex is so big, when he takes a step, he can destroy an entire city.
I mean he's supposed to be the size of a city.
I love Defensor because he's the most open book. I can make my own stories for them. This one looks like it is a more experienced team. Also, WEEK OF BIG BOYS RETURNS!

Defensor is always the "other one" so I like seeing all the third party love with him, also, apologies for the GIANT absence of comments, allot of personal problems have stopped me from being able to do allot of things, this video for the first time in a while is infact Toaster approved.

I envy you doing that with the hands. My friend called me and I had to bring my toolkit over just to unscrew the hands off. Real shame it really was an interesting design ruined by some engineering and certain design flaws
It was such an insane pain, I don't know ho you mess up one step that bad.

It would be interesting to see modern media use Defensor a lot more than just some random stories. If Volcanicus can get enough love in modern day to have two toys, though both aren't great. Ones a very sub par combiner, and the other is a kids toy that looks silly. Then Defensor sure as hell deserves some more love. I like the design quite a bit, I just love rescue vehicles. Although the weirdest choice is making a motorcycle a limb... I've seen cop bikes and while they're big for motorcycles, they for sure wouldn't make a good leg when everyone else is a much larger vehicle. But mass shifting is a thing that they use, so Groove get's a pass I suppose
I kind of love and hate Volcanicus. On the one hand. FUCKIN SICK DINO COMBINER. On the other hand the Dinobots, should be the guys so strong they don't need to become combiners.

at least computron is known as the brainy boi combiner whereas defencor is only known for appearing out of nowhere
Still probably the best defensor design out there. Despite the more than painful transformation it’s still miles ahead of the combiner wars one

Defensor is always “the other one” which is a shame because he is probably one of the best combiners to me.
While the Motorcycle being a leg is a stupid thing, I like that every limb is completely different. I don’t like to get repaints/slight remolds so thats a big thing for me.
I mean you could say the same of Bruticus's limbs, so why is Defensor your Favorite?
@@PerspectiveEnd Bruticus is my favourite combiner easily, especially in those garish G2 colours. Defensor is up there for me though.
I took a hobby knife and some shock oil to Streetwise's arms to fix that problem. They don't really need to lock in on the track because they lock in other places, so having them loose isn't a big deal.
Interesting. Though it's probably more important for my review that I didn't do that so people can be informed it's a problem they will have to deal with.

Yeah, he wasn't in a lot of it, and he didn't have a lot of impact when he was there.

I think the number of bois in this one might actually be like 50% More.
I always found Defensor the be more coherent a combiner design than most while being less dull in the limbs than Superion, personally. The rescue vehicle color scheme made the limbs color match decently with the unapologetic sky blue to turquoise fire truck torso.
As for to vid's question, part of me would like to see the next one for Big Bois 2 be the Generation Toy Guardian (Defensor) but as fun as watching your response to the panel-ey mess that is their Hotspot would be, it's neither easy to find nor reasonably priced for that payoff. So with that in mind, my educated guess on who the next one will be is Combiner Wars Abominus.
Both interesting guesses you made there, we will see how it turns out.
And I don't know, I just have nothing to latch onto with Defensor.

Admittedly the only one I got of him as a kid was Hotspot, they didn't really get all that much time in the cartoon, but they could have been a strong foil for Bruticus' all out assault based off the power sets given to both. To me they feel like one of those cases of missed potential.
Despite them being the prequel rescue bots (really, they can be triple/quadruple changers when ever they want to, even transforming into dinosaurs, but they can’t combine?), the build looks more like a hazard.

I don’t have a single combiner from Combiner Wars other than Orthia, but if I had the money, I would definitely pick up Defensor and whatever the Rust Renegades combine into, I forgot.
Interesting. My Elita Combiner is just a custom one at this point since she really needed a fan mode to not look ridiculous.
Week of big boys 2, huh? Longshot, but maybe MP-01 Optimus Prime, or Energon Omega Supreme, who dwarfs pretty much all non-titan class figures.
An interesting idea with the Optimus, but I will say this is a week of characters who are supposed to be giant.
Streetwise: Jake? Get the Dremel. Kidding aside. That would be my recommendation to fix that joint. A quick 10 sec to widen the track and you are good to go.
Is that a reference to something I don't know. And it would be something I'd be willing to do if there was a easy way to get a dremel in there.
Nice video, Defensor is actually my equal favourite Autobot combiner with Superion.
I mean there's only like 1 other, so really you are just throwing shade a Computron at this point.

You don't have to thank me. You deserve the credit for this week happening at all, I'd completely forgotten when the last one was so I'd have never remembered to do this otherwise.
The new MMC looks like it has the feet integrated chicken leg style into hot spot. I actually thought that was a good design choice on this version as well as I see it being fairly difficult to integrate a foot into either groove or streetwise like they did with brawl and swindle.
Yeah I was very confused about how those feet were going to work till the more recent pictures, it does disappoint me just a little in that it means the leg units are basically just decorations, but its' still really clever.

Decoration combiners are more like menasor where there is a robot and it has cars stuck on the sides. Menasor would still look like menasor without the cars stuck on. Defensor with chicken legs would not look like it's supposed to be.

Except he's unstable NOT because he is utilizing partsforming, it's because SOMEBODY in the design process thought that using F%cking ball joints to hold up ALL of that weight and size was actually a good idea.
*SPOILER ALERT:* As the video shows, it clearly wasn't. That and the fact that this is an oversized Knock Off of the original Maketoys Guardia probably can account for both the ankle looseness and the ULTRA stubborn wrist sliders.
In my experience with using the Perfect Effect hand and foot upgrades on my G2 Bruticus, the ball jointed feet quickly had their tolerances completely butchered and my poor Dudicus kept wanting to lean both forwards and backwards and ended up taking a shelf dive in the process. This is the reason why Perfect Effect retooled their upgrades during Power of the Primes to remove the ball joints in the ankles in favor for a simple hinge pivot instead.
I mean they're still a partsforming piece, and I just intended it as a joke.
I'm thinking about using the White Goo Jobby always goes on about to fix these ankles.
i would love to see the protectobot interacting with the rescue bots it be cute and also there is a protectobot named medix along side there also being a rescue bot named medix and his uncle is ratchet who was sometimes a protectobot theory 1 medix's cousin is first aid
theory number 2 hot spot is the older more rougher cousin and his brother is red alert ( look the alinged countinuity is random so i choose so)
I never watched the Rescue bots, but that does sound charming.

But you can't touch it. As soon as you touch it, it falls apart. Because it looks so cool, every kid that comes in my house tries to play with it, and the thing just disintegrates!

Feels like something they'd do in animated.
Imma be real with this figure, usually I'm pretty lenient with Combiners because they are hard to do...but those limbs, god they're bad. However, it's not forbthe reason you think. They Aesthetically collide with the Torso which is surprisingly Clean, if the torso would've been a little messy, it'd probably make the limbs be less of an eyesore.
Yeah the torso is a pretty defined object because it has a lot more partsforming going on.

Overall the combined mode looks pretty good, as do the individual figures, too bad about Streetwise's arms though.
This isn't really a problem with the figures, it's more a problem with the character design itself, but how the heck is a bicycle supposed to hold up an ambulance, a helicopter, and a fire truck? Lol
Yeah the Motorcycle would make way more sense as an arm, rather than a leg.

I personally find the groove limb distractingly weird in a negative way, the calf of the limb looks like it exploded.

I own the CW version of Defensor with the deluxe class Groove, but I do like the look of this one. If you ever change your mind on the idea of a collection tour, I would love to see it!

I knew from the get go that you would have mixed feelings for this set because I played with my friend's Menasor and I knew that you'll encounter some sort of tolerance foible. As for my experience with it, it's the left arm in the combined mode that's foible. The rest, including the part you called the "motherfucker" part functioned well enough.

The original was CHUG scale, not Legends scale. Maketoys made a few CHUG scale combiners long before Combiner Wars.

Probably Bruticus, I could be wrong, but I expect him as he's the most Marketable after Devestator, and I think the only reason Menasor is first is because his CW figure was so bad.
The combiener looks very cool, but how will it compare to the upcoming MMC Defensor. Are they gonna be on evwn grounds or will there be no competition?
There will be no competition. The MMC one will be as big as their assaultus, it will be more articulated, with less kibble, and it will have better altmodes and transformations. All of this is based on how good their first aid is.
My guess for the next review would have to be potp abominus, i have no logical reason for this guess, he's just my favorite combiner lmao

I just always say they are the most Nothing Combiner. They don't really have anything going on. Honestly you can watch the basics episode and see what I mean.

IN NO WAY should you do that. That is BEYOND way too much for those figures. You could get the MMC Bruticus for that price. Or like all of kingdom.

Well, nobody said that the Maketoys transformations *always* made sense...poor Streetwise. And upsizing doesn't always work, either. (Jinbao's KO of MMC Feral Rex comes to mind; there's some simplifications to the designs of the individual critters, and the heads are laughably too big.)
On the other hand, if I didn't already have the Combiner Wars version (First Aid, Rook, Streetwise, a shitty copy of Blades, and supplemented by the Cool Become Brave KOs of Unite Warriors Hotspot & Groove), I think that the Maketoys version would be a pretty awesome one to get...if it weren't for the existence of the MMC one. 😏😏😏
Amusingly, nobody's ever KO'd their Computron or Devastator. (Then again, it seems there's next to no love for Computron - nobody's KO'd the Hasbro CW, Takara UW, or the Warbotron WB03, either...)
I could have sworn I've seen some KOs of their Devestator before.
@@PerspectiveEnd Beats me. I know the DX9 one got KO'd to oblivion and then some. Then I just recently came across a video of the Generation Toy "Guardian" (kinda ballsy naming, considering that Defensor's Japanese name IS Guardian). Whoooooo...that thing is NOT as appealing as I would've hoped. The leg bots don't directly connect to Hotspot, instead being shoved into some rather fugly white boxes that happen to have the feet on them and then that whole shebang is attached to Hotspot. Reminds me of the Transform Mission IDW style Mensaor (and the old Fansproject one). Whatever the case, it simply does NOT look good for Defensor. More stable or not, that fugly look is probably the reason Jinbao never bothered to do oversized KOs of them.
Did you get them individually or did they all come in a giant blue box?
They came together, in a collector's box. That I think I threw away.
@@PerspectiveEnd So did mine. The only problem I had which doesn't seem to be as bad as yours are the arms. I took everything apart and added kiki and it helped fill in the ratchets so they hold.

Hey Perspective, I know it really isn't really related, but what are you and the other fraternacon's thoughts on bionicle?
We never really got into it. I had like the two Monster enemies from it, I think we both had like one of the Toa, and we watched the original movie like once.
@@PerspectiveEnd Well, it's actually very similar to transformers. It got a reboot around, 2015-ish which is how I got into it, so I have a soft spot for it, despite it (according to most Bionicle fans) being pretty bad. Another thing, we also call the original run of Bionicle "G1" and the reboot "G2" I guess it would be ok to call people who are against the reboot for being different "Geewunners", like the people of the same equivalent in the TF community.

Rash on lower legs is a lottt better than a month ago, but doc want me to take some antobiotics for a bit in case I got a staph infection in my skin underlayers, but not yet effecting my blood secondary. Esp since I got a got a history of crazy unknown primary skin & secondary blood issues that almost killed me back in 2017 & 2018 (ex. normal platelets total is 160-400 & I was at 1600+ due to skin being f'ed to hell & back).
@@PerspectiveEnd on a lighter note got Cybertron Snarl aka Fang Wolf & the 2 bots of the factionless Goant Planet minicon team I didn't have already. I only medsed around with minicon & Scout class Cybertron Transformers before today. Snarl actually impressed me, lot more complex than Unicron trilogy transformers usually are. Imagine a DBZ fusion of BW Silverbolt transformation minus the backpack - with some BW Quickstrike and/or BW Megatron thrown in due to beast head hand - & TR Weirdwolf stylings weilding a gunblade like Squall from FF8.
Maybe it's combinerwars devastator scale because he is also too big for the main line

Yeah Groove makes no sense as a leg. As for Blades, I mean you could splay them out like that but they get in the way.
Huh... Not gonna lie, this is an uniqe take on Defensor. But also this REALLY isn't something for me.
And not because I don't like Defensor or Protectobots, but the look of it just isn't for me.

I bought a use version of the lime bots but groove was broken and I hate the tolerance on streetwise’s arm and the up and down head platform

I enjoy defensor, but god streetwise cannot get a toy with both a good robot mode, and a good car mode. They all look cheap in at least one mode
His robot mode is definitely the least cool of the bunch.

Still think Combiner’s are conceptually idiotic and represent a clear and inarguable tactical downgrade in nearly every instance. The only time a combiner makes *any* narrative or logical sense is in a Super Sentai setting. But considering how low _logic and narrative_ rank for Super Sentai…

See I like to kind of view them in the light that they all have personal shield generators, which is why one shot typically doesn't kill them unless it's from a particularly powerful gun.
And that the shield Generators scale with size, at an efficient rate that borders on exponential. So when they combine they combine their shield Generators for a shield that's not 5 times stronger, but dozens of times stronger.
And their weapons systems also become more capable of punching through other shields.
Streetwise should be Barricade's arch enemy.

Easy, it was like Part Two of the Reddit QnA. All my longest videos are the Subscriber specials, but outside that it would probably be my first video that's the longest.
Chug scale. Maketoys made chug scale figure not legends. Slightly taller then fans project figures and even share the same hand design. Not sure if there's a connection between companies or not...I've got both and thier the same other then size. Yes toys did a good job oversizing them, any design flaws are on maketoys. And for what they are and when they came out ( around the third season of prime if I remember correctly). Shortly after that combiner wars struck back with vengeance against third party rivals and we got eight different MP shockwaves.

Also interesting that they were chug scale because these here already feel pretty Chugscale.
There's a fine line between chug voyager and MP deluxe. MMC tend to ride that line in thier figures between ocular max and reformatted.
The protectobots, the first responder team before the rescue bots, and I think the rescue bots are probably better, you probably hate the toys but the show was good, the only thing that remains is blades but then again he's nothing like the G1 blades, still I prefer him over G1
