Hello again! It's me! It's me again!
You used the phrase 'Dry fit' several times. Says the Ol' Captain, one dry fit is better than a hundred expert measurements. Thanks Brian.
So true :)
Thanks for the video!!! I was able to install them myself in about an hour. That was after a mechanic told me they had sent the wrong front bars!!! 😊😊
Hey Brian, after watching you video and talking with others, I decided to replace my front Sway Bar on my 2010 Ford E450. With the correct tools it only took about an hour. Taking a trip in a couple weeks to see how the handling has improved. Thanks for the videos, very informative.
Your videos are great, if I can watch these and save a a ton of money, then I'm golden
Thanks for the great video. I installed the Helwig front and rear sway bars on my 2008 E450 motorhome. What a difference! To install both it took me about and hour and forty five min. Super simple and everything fit great. I did have to grind down one corner of the upper bracket on the front stabilizer so it would sit flat, but other than that, smooth as silk! Thanks again, you gave me the confidence to get it done.
Got the Hellwig front and rear sway bars for 2014 class c Ford 350 Super duty V10 6.8 gas. Now I have to get the courage to do job. Watched your video many times to know what I was in for with project.
+Bee Lust Good luck. Just take your time, pre assemble before removing the old to make sure you have everything, save and reuse the old bolts if needed. There will be grunts and groans but you can do it. At least you won't have to shoot a video while you're doing it :)
Thanks for these great videos on the Hellwig sway bars. I am installing them now and look forward seeing the improvements
You're going to love the change. Good luck.
Hi Brian, your Hellwig sway bar install video was great. I made sure to buy thru your links so you could be rewarded for your good work. Keep it up. I'll be following your solar guidelines next with some added input from Will Prowse< the solar kid.
Great. I'm glad the sway bar video was helpful. It's still working well for us after all these years.
I did the exact same thing to our 2013 Ford E-450-based Triple E Regency class C motor home; installed Hellwig heavy duty sway bars front and rear, and Bilstein shocks all around. Now it drives and handles like it's on rails. Only problem is, it pulls slightly to the right, but this is probably just an alignment problem, and nothing to do with the sway bars and shocks. But, the main thing is NO MORE WHITE KNUCKLE DRIVING!!!
+Superspockman That's great to hear. I'm not sure about the right pull. It does sound like an alignment problem. I got mine professionally aligned right after I put the bars on and got new tires.
Oh my gosh, I have dealt with that "sway" when the tractor trailers pass-by! I definitely need to upgrade this...I have a 2020 Class C, but whatever they got on there it definitely is "not" good enough. Thanks for the video Tito!
Thank you very much! Just bought the E350 super duty 25ft four winds commercial of the same year! I think the new sway bars will help great!!!! Ryan of Mill Creek WA.
hi tito, just wanted to thank you for posting this and let you know your video was much more informative and helpful than the actual installation video that hellwig had posted. i did the front sway bar today and got a good start on the rear one on our ford e350 class c. the sway bars are really heavy duty but i thought hellwig's instructions could have been a little more detailed.
Excellent job. Very informative. I am thinking about this upgrade myself. I am sure I would be happy with improvements. I am tired of the white knuckle driving with our Kansas wind.
Good quick video. Liked your review of before and after install. You reported a large improvement. Making me think that will be an upcoming upgrade. You had the shocks done when you had the alignment done. Thanks
Thanks Brian will getter done!
Nice job god bless
Thanks!
Thank you very much! You help me a lot with your video!
"Great Job," Thanks for the info.
Hello. Your two videos on Ft & Rr Anti Sway bars convinenced me that I can do this. I've done a lot of work on my 2003 Ford E-450 SD Class C, so this should be a snap. Fingers crossed. Question, have you ever replaced the emergency start battery relay? Mine stopped working and not the charging my house batteries while driving from the alternator.
Good morning Tito I just like to know where I can by anti front and rear sway bar for a 1999 Winnebago adventure motorhome.??
Go check out SDTruckSprings.com. I buy most suspension stuff there. Check this out for the F53 chassis www.sdtrucksprings.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=3755
Could you give us the# for this kit. Amazon kit looks different..different parts, please. Both if possible, front and back. 2018 f 450
Great video Tito, you said newer frame you had to put on that bracket. What year is yours? Just bought a 06 Tioga and front end/grill looks the same.
Ours is an 07
Hello- I see this video was made years ago, how have the bars held up over the years? I’m getting ready to do this project as well.
Haven't touched them...still work great!
Curious why you needed to replace the old anti-sway bar?
..one thousand one, one thousand two... 🙄
Good question. Holy crap… this is an old film. 12 years ago. No wonder I can’t find a sway bar match. One thousand three and one quarter..whatever that means.
Hey Tito, Could you tell me the Bilstein shock absorber part numbers for the front and back? I followed your link but amazon doesn't sell them any longer. We have a 2016 Coachmen 319 DS (E-450) Thank you
I did the upgrade -- I pull a horse trailer so I added Air bags as well -- now just going after the shocks. QUESTION -- I have Monroe Shocks available locally -- should i go to the effort of sourcing the Bilstein's rather?
Look into the Koni shocks from Ulta RV Products. They also have lots of other parts for the F-53 and the workhouse chassis.
there don't seam to be any replies to the questions!
Hey Brian...what diameter anti sway bars did you install...I have a 25 foot Thor
No comment about the difference in ride!
This is part 1. I did at the end of the second video (rear sway bars)
I appreciate your research and how to's. I am looking at installing the sway bars on a 2004 24ft BornFree(E450). It already has SteerSafe installed. Do you think it would be fine with the sway bars , shocks, and steering damper that there would be no need for the SteerSafe?
It doesn't hurt having the sterring stabilizer. I never upgraded mine and it drives fine. I'd try it without and add it later if needed.
I want to do the same thing, but where did you find the torque specs? I cannot find a Chiltons or Haynes manual for an e450, and I don't want to spend $100 for a Ford shop manual. Many thanks.
I'd have to go dig it it up but I think they were specified in the installation instructions from Hellwig.
RVwithTito Thanks for your quick reply. The Hellwig installation sheet says to torque all hardware to specified rates. Sounds like liability lingo to me.
awboater I'm thinking at this point to have the local service shop install the sway bars. They will do it for less than the shop manual would cost me.
I remember having torque specs. I'll have to look through my stuff at home.
Thanks Lone Star!
Have you replaced your steering shock absorber? I put that rear sway bar on ours, makes some nice difference. Need the front done next. Also, I weighed our Class C today, heh.. only have 320 lbs of cargo that I can use on front axle. How much more does that new sway bar weigh?
The front bar is smaller than the rear. Not sure about the weight. Maybe 25 to 30 lbs? I just did the front, rear, and all 4 shocks.
quick question for ya, what brand batteries do you use and the voltage. Thanks.
I have two 210Ah 6 volt golf cart batteries that I picked up from Costco (about $75 each).
Has anyone installed a child seat anchor?
Have you ever had a lot of play in the steering? We have an 06 Ford E450 class C 31 footer and she has a lot of play in the steering.
I used to have a lot of play in the steering before the sway bar and shocks were upgraded. The front end would bounce around alot. I don't notice it at all now. The rv is very stable and responds well. I can even drive with one hand in windy conditions. This and solar have been the best upgrades by far.
Today, I just had a front end alignment done.. it was WAY off even though it didn't pull. They told me it had the original shim tags from Ford. Will be looking into the sway bar for rear end next.
I had my front end aligned also after new tires, new shocks, new bars. So far so good. Rig rides nice and flat.
We bought this about 4 months ago from a dealer who used it as a "rental" unit. I don't think he knew as much as he bragged he did about RV's. He said the Fords are common for the "play" in the steering.. lol.. Just another used car salesman. Before he sold it he put 10 year old tires on it, kept the new ones.
Wow. That's tire thing is pretty shady business. Bottom line is that stock Ford bars and shocks are not adequate for a large 30+ foot class C house on it. Upgrading both will make all the difference. It as for me anyway. Sounds like you're on the right track.
cost?
Can't remember off hand but cheaper than the Roadmaster sway bars for the same result.
We purchased a new 2016 Fleetwood Flair A RV. I hate driving it for it wants to go off the road. To scary every time it hits a bump or large trucks pass us on the road. When we purchased our RV, the salesmen drive it in the back road slow. When we bought the unit and drove it home we were frighten to death how it felt. The dealer told us that must RV, feel this way when on the road. We didn't believe him but after a contract is done it's done. Burn me once shame on you burn me twice shame on us.
Hello Brian. Interested in ordering these. I send you a message on fb messenger. Wondering If I can order them from your store.
Hey Jorge. There are links in the video description for all of those components. Thanks for the support!
+RVwithTito Thank you Brian, I check the store but my Rv uses a different model Hellwig 7718 Front and Hellwig 7085 Rear. Those are not on your page and unless I am doing it wrong I don't have a way of searching for those on Amazon from within your page. Thank you.
+Jorge Palencia Just use the link to get to Amazon. Once there, search for the one you need. It remembers where you came from. That's it. Thanks again for the support!
+RVwithTito placed the order. Hope I did it correctly. Thanks so much Brian.
+Jorge Palencia Now the fun part begins. I had a few knuckle busters putting those on, but was pretty happy with the result.
video from Hellwig how an anti-sway bar works ua-cam.com/video/4aIgu7OBqUU/v-deo.html BTW love your videos
Soooooo much talking....
side note if you have a class A RV with a rubber type installed windshield DO not do this upgrade .. this well make a hand full of windshield to start popping out and / braking them ...
glued in auto windshield hold up batter to this type of update like what he has
but locking down sway is not all ways a good thing on RVs
