If folks are increasing their fibre, make sure to increase your water intake too. The fibre absorbs liquid in your system, so you need extra water or the extra fibre can slow your system down

Yes! I drink at least 3 of these big water bottles I show in the video per day.

The first step in any organizing project is to declutter unused and unneeded items. Well done! 💪😃

Good motivation. Thanks. For folks wondering about keeping things organized after organizing, I find the key is doing a ruthless purge before the reorganization. Having less stuff to organize and clean is the secret.

Great idea to just do a focused area every day. I could definitely benefit from this too as there are so many areas that have gotten a bit out of hand.

I find it really helps to just do one trouble spot a day, otherwise I get overwhelmed.

Your decluttering process brought such great results. My house always feels so much bigger, brighter, and more functional after I declutter. Good for you to take the time to go thru the 14 day challenge!

First, I LOVE this video because your house in the “before” looks so real - thank you for making me feel “normal!”😂 And also I love your pantry - it also made me feel normal. Our pantry isn’t a huge walk-in and we don’t have 10 of everything so that it’s all matchy-matchy rows of items - you did a great job of modeling a decluttered, functional, organized pantry for us “normal” people. 😊. Ditto whoever said good for you for sticking with it for 14 days straight! I am inspired by taking things one area at a time - thanks!

Thanks for watching! I wish I could keep one of those "Pinterest perfect" pantries, but this is a lot more functional for us. 😊🩷

@@thediymommy eh, those “Pinterest Perfect” pantries are overrated IMHO - who needs 10 cans of the same thing of anything all the time just so they look perfectly arranged on your shelf?? 😂

This was very encouraging. I like that the kitchen was broken up between several day. Some of these challenges seem to cram too much into one day. Your approach seemed less overwhelming. Thanks for sharing such great content!

If you did this 14 day organization challenge consecutively, I give you a lot of credit! Of course I know that is the point but knowing myself, I would not be that motivated to do this consecutively with working full-time and my kids! In a week I have mid-winter recess off which provides ample time to organize. I will see what I can accomplish!

I started decluttering three years back. It was hard, working full time and I also had a child in school. But I set up a system of on the weekends looking through my clothes to see what I could donate. My other system was to shred junk mail each day. This way papers don't accumulate.
I did have a lot of papers!! During 2020, when we were staying home because of COVID, that's when each week I looked through my totes and shredded all my papers that I didn't need. I was happy because I emptied 8 totes that I forgot I had because the totes were in storage.
Then we moved last year and I had to get rid of more of my stuff because our new home didn't have much storage. Unfortunately my husband is a hoarder. He doesn't like to get rid of anything and he doesn't shred any of his papers. My husband doesn't like organization like I do. So my house looks like a cluttered hot mess!!!
Thank you for your tips!! This gives me ideas of what I can do in my home that's cluttered with my husband's stuff!!

    • @MyFocusVaries

At least if you declutter your things, there's room to stuff your husband's things in the now empty storage, out of sight.

Great tips Thank you May I say storing potatoes and onions together will drastically shorten their shelf life onions produce ethylene gas that causes potatoes to spoil prematurely Potatoes have high moisture content that can cause onions to turn brown and mushy 💌

The CBC just did a show about expiry dates. There's no legislation or guidelines about when products expire. Manufacturers put those dates on kind of randomly. Especially for dry goods, food is still healthy and safe to eat long after the "expiry" date. Only discard food if it has deteriorated.

      @MyFocusVaries 4 місяці тому

@@thediymommy it was fairly recently. You could find it on their website. When I googled "CBC food expiry", I found articles quoting experts who are pushing for removing best before dates from packaging because they're misleading and contribute to food waste.

Just curious. Did you deliberately let your spaces get cluttered to do this video? You have a lot of systems already in place. They don’t seem to be working for you. I am looking for suggestions because some of my systems don’t work very well for me.
