If folks are increasing their fibre, make sure to increase your water intake too. The fibre absorbs liquid in your system, so you need extra water or the extra fibre can slow your system down
Yes! I drink at least 3 of these big water bottles I show in the video per day.
The first step in any organizing project is to declutter unused and unneeded items. Well done! 💪😃
So true!
Good motivation. Thanks. For folks wondering about keeping things organized after organizing, I find the key is doing a ruthless purge before the reorganization. Having less stuff to organize and clean is the secret.
Such a good tip & I agree.
Great idea to just do a focused area every day. I could definitely benefit from this too as there are so many areas that have gotten a bit out of hand.
I find it really helps to just do one trouble spot a day, otherwise I get overwhelmed.
Your decluttering process brought such great results. My house always feels so much bigger, brighter, and more functional after I declutter. Good for you to take the time to go thru the 14 day challenge!
Thank you! It wasn't the most fun job, but the results are 100000% worth it. 😅
First, I LOVE this video because your house in the “before” looks so real - thank you for making me feel “normal!”😂 And also I love your pantry - it also made me feel normal. Our pantry isn’t a huge walk-in and we don’t have 10 of everything so that it’s all matchy-matchy rows of items - you did a great job of modeling a decluttered, functional, organized pantry for us “normal” people. 😊. Ditto whoever said good for you for sticking with it for 14 days straight! I am inspired by taking things one area at a time - thanks!
Thanks for watching! I wish I could keep one of those "Pinterest perfect" pantries, but this is a lot more functional for us. 😊🩷
@@thediymommy eh, those “Pinterest Perfect” pantries are overrated IMHO - who needs 10 cans of the same thing of anything all the time just so they look perfectly arranged on your shelf?? 😂
Inspiring- I’m going to go tackle my Tupperware drawer.
🙌🙌🙌
I watched this once for ideas and motivation, then watching a second time for a clean-with-me while I work... thank you!
Thanks for watching! 🩷
This was awsome. I have been doing the same. You feel so much better when everything is organized. Great video. 😊🇨🇦
ahh perfect time! i finally have energy to carry on with cleaning & organizing in my home post-Christmas 😅. thank you for the inspo & lovely vid as always ❤
You got this!
thank you 👏🏽🥰
Great, inspiring video as always!!!
Thanks so much!
This was very encouraging. I like that the kitchen was broken up between several day. Some of these challenges seem to cram too much into one day. Your approach seemed less overwhelming. Thanks for sharing such great content!
Thanks for watching! I find the kitchen can get really overwhelming, so breaking it up helps me get it done.
If you did this 14 day organization challenge consecutively, I give you a lot of credit! Of course I know that is the point but knowing myself, I would not be that motivated to do this consecutively with working full-time and my kids! In a week I have mid-winter recess off which provides ample time to organize. I will see what I can accomplish!
It was definitely a challenge and some days I certainly didn't want to do it. But it was worth it! I have a schedule on my blog if that helps: thediymommy.com/14-day-home-organization-challenge-printable-declutter-checklist/
I started decluttering three years back. It was hard, working full time and I also had a child in school. But I set up a system of on the weekends looking through my clothes to see what I could donate. My other system was to shred junk mail each day. This way papers don't accumulate.
I did have a lot of papers!! During 2020, when we were staying home because of COVID, that's when each week I looked through my totes and shredded all my papers that I didn't need. I was happy because I emptied 8 totes that I forgot I had because the totes were in storage.
Then we moved last year and I had to get rid of more of my stuff because our new home didn't have much storage. Unfortunately my husband is a hoarder. He doesn't like to get rid of anything and he doesn't shred any of his papers. My husband doesn't like organization like I do. So my house looks like a cluttered hot mess!!!
Thank you for your tips!! This gives me ideas of what I can do in my home that's cluttered with my husband's stuff!!
At least if you declutter your things, there's room to stuff your husband's things in the now empty storage, out of sight.
Good luck! My kids and husband like to hold onto stuff too. I had to pep talk my kids into donating bags of things they haven't touched in years!
You have such a lovely home!
Thank you! 😊
Great inspiration.
Great tips Thank you May I say storing potatoes and onions together will drastically shorten their shelf life onions produce ethylene gas that causes potatoes to spoil prematurely Potatoes have high moisture content that can cause onions to turn brown and mushy 💌
I have spent a long time setting up storage solutions and reducing clutter. My hope is to make sure everything has a place to store. Things without homes end up all over. Then I will be able to do these challenges! Baby steps I guess.
What a great motivation video!!! Every day was a challenge I'm sure!! But results were great! Might just try it in my bedroom first!!! Wish my luck purging!!TYFS ❤😊
You can do it!
Well, that’s a first. Figuring out a way to tie gut health to home organization. Good for you! 😉
😊😊🩷
Interesting that Sean, I assume, cut down a wood door or cabinet to fit across your washing machine and dryer ☺️ It always feels good to organize the clutter, now if we could all learn the magic answer to keeping it that way. I guess by not using it! 😄 Good job, Christina 🙌❤️
Having less inventory is what the Minimal Mom says is the secret. That certainly works for me.
@@MyFocusVaries I'm a Maximalist! ☺️ I rather have it, than not, when In need! 🙌
I wish it would stay like this; as I learn systems that work for our family it gets a little easier!
Great organization video. I get so overwhelmed with it but breaking it up into different areas would help. Thank you. ❤ Im also taking the Metamucil daily 3 tsps in a cup of water plus lots of water during the day. Unfortunately still having problems with constipation 😢
Sorry to hear that! I'd talk to your Dr to see if they have any insight.

The CBC just did a show about expiry dates. There's no legislation or guidelines about when products expire. Manufacturers put those dates on kind of randomly. Especially for dry goods, food is still healthy and safe to eat long after the "expiry" date. Only discard food if it has deteriorated.
Very interesting!
@@thediymommy it was fairly recently. You could find it on their website. When I googled "CBC food expiry", I found articles quoting experts who are pushing for removing best before dates from packaging because they're misleading and contribute to food waste.
Just curious. Did you deliberately let your spaces get cluttered to do this video? You have a lot of systems already in place. They don’t seem to be working for you. I am looking for suggestions because some of my systems don’t work very well for me.
Nothing here is staged. 4th quarter is the busiest for our family, so we usually need a big organization/declutter reset like this in the new year to keep our systems working.
Thank you.
Agreed, the house always feels lighter, and can "breathe" better after decluttering! A Pet peeve that is visual clutter for me...tags still hanging from electrical cords, like your Kitchen Aid mixer @2:44. 😉 Have a great day Christina.
Thanks for watching! 🩷
@@thediymommy My absolute pleasure! You are not only The DIY Mommy you are the Titan of Tips! 😄
FYI potatoes and onions should not be next to each other the onion off gases causing the potato to ripen too fast
I've stored them like this for years and haven't had any issues. 🤷♀️
I know where you live
Shoes in shoe cubby in the foyer or hallway? Big NO for us. That's just gross. Shoes belong in bedroom storage, mudroom storage, garage storage for yard Shoes and sports shoes. Not a foyer. The smell would get to my very sensitive nose! No thank you.
