I have heard a concept where if the opponent has timing, you should prepare to clear it now by bearing down to two checkers. But if your opponent is out of timing and would either have to crunch or run off that anchor, you should leave the three to make them devolve while you hold that point just a bit longer.

Having two on our six against an anchor on our five allows us to clear the six point that much easier. Is this ever something to consider?
