Wow, this was PHENOMENAL!!! Over the TOP!!! THANK YOU!!! (Joy, can you please splice in photos of a monstera deliciosa leaf and a monstera borsigiana (?) leaf, side by side, so we can see the difference you describe?) : )
@@hedgewitch59 it's more of a marketing way to sell more. Monstera rings the bell much easier than raphidophora. But they aren't even related, since one is found in SE asia and other in central and south america.
@@M_SC you don’t need DNA evidence, when you find species in SE Asia where genus Monstera isn’t present in nature. So it isn’t like nobody knew. Спасибо за подборку с фото и названием! 🔥 Но нужно указывать ювенильную форму и зрелую форму листа, а то начинающий накупит одно и то же растение в разной стадии развития😂
I never paid attention to Monstera or Vining plants in general but after discovering how easy it is to care for them I have three types of Monstera already. Just bought Monstera Peru because of the looks of it. It looks fantastic to me.
Thanks a lot for the movie and the one about Raphidphora. But... I stil don't know how to differentiate them (if they are any different). And I bought a plant that has identical leaves to raphidophora tetrasperma but different silhouette (is not leggy at all, more of the share of epipremnum njoy). And now searching the whole internet to learn what I bought (the store was "this is monstera"... Can you help?
@@agataszczepanska-jochemczy6746 Because they're still being labelled as monstera minima (my own plant was a minima). It is incorrect. In the Philippines and monstera (big box store suppliers) in USA are still incorrectly calling monstera deliciosa/borsigiana a 'split leaf philodendron'. Different plant genus in both examples.
@@janeth3008 my only issue is in the video is the only partial views of the plants. There's a difference once the plants matured and aged look versus the juveniles. sad I didn't see a matured monstera siltepecana version in this because they look nuts matured and personally think it'd drive people to get one because they can get very fenestrated.... it's also tough not knowing what you're holding because some look very-very alike in baby form or very different from the matured. ex...epipremnum pinnatum (non cebu form) vs rhaphidophora decursiva, both ironically get called dragon's tail. I kind of get a thrill when I see plants at the store mislabeled and know it's not the labeled plant. may be getting a different form or a diff plant altogether for a lower price vs a potentially high 100s price if rarity is taken into account.
@@daveshouse8105 that’s why I’m here I have a baby monsterra only one leaf has slight fenesstration and I don’t even know what type it is and I hope it isn’t a raphidophora
Thank you very much. I was at a plant shop. I saw something wonderful but no one knew what it was. I need to know. With your help I figured out it is a Monstera Siltepecana. It was driving me crazy.
borsigiana isn't real it's just a sub optimal but still pretty monstera. Node spacing and leaf size is entirely dependent on growing conditions and climbing.
@HerbStories For proof look for monstera borsigiana in Wikipedia or plant taxonomy catalogues. You wont find it. The only reason borsigiana is associated with monstera at all is because of monstera variegated form which is known commonly as borsigiana, which can't produce enough energy to mature to be "large form" like something like ThaiCon would be able to and likely has slightly different genes, meaning borsigiana is attributed falsely to its smaller growth pattern. In normal monstera, they can usually be matured in proper conditions unless they've progressed far through their lifespan. Every "hint" or "feature" someone tells you to look out for in a borsigiana is also present in a juvenile or sub optimal monstera.
I didn't know there were so many plant species. Good sharing.

The monstera minima is not actually a monstera but a raphidiphora tetrasperma
Yes. I just bought one. Must be terrible keeping up with all the name changes.

The monstera minima IS the raphidophora tetrasperma. Been labelled incorrectly.
@@janeth3008 so why the authors of this movie present them as two separate plants?
