“I always make a point to understand the medium I’m composing for, in this case the mechanics and background of the rhythm game this piece was composed for. While me and Frums are often known for overwhelming rhythmic complexity, we decided to dial that back slightly for this song, while still maintaining its identity as an angry piece that is fast, aggressive but not necessarily in a rhythm game boss way. The incredible chart that k//eternal and TaroNuke made for this song blew me out of the water, and I’m glad we went with this direction in the end, aimed to create an experience that goes beyond impossible rhythms and crazy speeds.
The line ‘utopia mutilates me’ is taken from the libretto of the opera I’m working on, about themes of loss and cycles of abuse and toxic codependency in relationships - a two way destruction and consumption. One takes, the other gives, but in so doing takes from themselves, and thereby takes from the other. Surging, pulsating. Sounds of your internals screams blotting out whatever the outside world is trying to make you see or feel. All you can see is darkness and the coldness running through your veins, your heart in your throat, the static in your mind.
It was an absolute joy working with Frums. I was facing a period of artistic dryout and becoming disillusioned with rhythm game music, but from the moment the ideas began to form around the first audio files they sent to me, it was as if the song itself was compelling me to sculpt it from the silence. I give my utmost thanks to Frums, my hero in the electronic music world for constantly inspiring, rejuvenating and blessing me and others with their wonderful works and unceasing dedication to this art.”

“While working on this song, an image rose to the top of my mind. Start with a body. Pick a random plane intersecting that body, such that the cross-section has C2 rotational symmetry - or, equivalently, that the surface of the body would remain unbroken if one of the resulting masses were rotated 180 degrees. Do so. Repeat this process until the body is no longer recognizable as what it originally was.
This is one of the more difficult pieces I've worked on. I give my sincere thanks to Hundotte for their skill and patience as they repeatedly replied to my deeply unpunctual chunks of audio with, well, the actual song as you're hearing it. I hope you enjoy what resulted, thanks to them and perhaps despite me.”
