Unfortunately to access the replay files you need an account given by Riot to pros/staff so I can't provide those :( Sorry to all those asking after them. If you want to see how Azir vs Orianna normally looks, watch the first 3 waves of this matchup: ua-cam.com/video/NehF0Dj5-TU/v-deo.html Lastly, thank you guys for supporting my content for Season 12! Preseason 13 begins tomorrow and I'm very much looking forward to sharing more League knowledge with you guys
zeka quickly took over as my favorite mid. ive found myself watching hours of his vods from worlds and i never realized the nuances like you pointed out in this video. good stuff man
There's no way this video just dropped... I was hoping to catch a stream to ask if you could do commentary on Zeka's Sylas gameplay. Thanks for another banger Shok
This video is a testament to the high quality educational content that you make, seriously. A lot of interesting points throughout the whole video, super valuable. Zeka definitely went a step beyond everyone else in matchup understanding and runes & build adaptation.
Appreciate you shok! Th value of the content you produce is unmatched. Really making me take a conscious effort to learn and improve at league on a deeper level. Hopefully will see you in challenger queue next year!!!
I would really want to thank Mr.Shok here for all the amazing videos. I First started playing the game last September and today at the end of the season I ended Gold 4 from starting in Iron 1. I have improved so much and learned so many things form watching the videos you make. you have covered every thing a mid laner should know / do in such a chill no BS and informative way Thank you really, hopefully next year I will climb more and learn even more thanks to your videos. C:
That's the best content on the whole league community thank you for being real. I was hoping that u can also upload or tell us where could we find the pov of those games
Thanks man for making this man, great analysis. I'm currently challenger playing for collegiate but struggling in comp play but these videos are really helping me up my game! Just subscribed. Btw, how are you accessing these replays?
You need to be in a riot affiliated league to get them it's possible collegiate teams can get them but you'd have to ask riot. I know ERL teams have access to them so it might be available to you?
Top notch content as always, you're so underrated! I was wondering if you've ever considered making like an itemization guide? Not specifically for mid lane, but for all roles. How to build against certain team comps, 4/1 split, 50% AD 50% MR, building items that have good stats but passive doesn't apply to your champ, etc.
Hmm it's something I might think about. Not sure I'd make it for all roles though, just mid lane which admittedly probably covers all the different roles anyway
Hello, Shok, i wanted to ask - does it worth for midlaners to take jungle camps after new patch? In your Zeka's review, he farmed a lot of camps, but now it takes too much time.
I was really intrigued by Akali vs Azir matchup, Im a Kassadin player and it basically happens what you wre mentioning vs Azir, he just stacks a huge wave and pushes me under tower harassing me a lot, is what Akali did doable as kassadin with fleetfoot work? Definetly would like to try
I think Oblivion orb is a decent item choice for mages who are being out sustained by melee champs because it not only reduces direct heading, it also reduces regenerating health gain, acting like a burn effect. Zeka himself used it himself for that exact reason when he was in the Azir vs Sylas/Akali matchups a few times in the tournament. In that exact kind of situation, it's the theoretically highest damage per gold option if they can't fully buy a lost chapter on their first base. If a champ has enough mana to get the other champs low, but not kill, the pseudo-burn effect of Oblivion orb allows that same mana pool to put the melee champ in lethal range by denying a significant amount of heading from the Dorian's shield and second wind. I don't think it's a consistent strategy in soloqueue, but it works well in pro play as the melee champs have count on their opponents rushing lost chapter for the sustain strategy to work so changing up the build path with a counter build to the counter build is something the mage players have to do to keep their advantage in the matchup even though it's "not optimal" in general circumstances.
Hi Shok this isn't 100% related to the video but I was quite curious to hear your take on sensitivity. It's not really a topic that comes up and I was wondering what your view would be on a higher vs lower DPI (assuming the ingame slider stays at 50). Obviously there's too high and too low and obviously there's a middle ground which most pros would fall into. The pros of a lower sens is the precision but it becomes slower although it being slower is not necessarily a downside as you want to click close to your character for better micro. Whilst higher is faster, and so makes it more easy to overshoot being close to your character. Edit: One thing for low sens is moving your camera around when it's unlocked as it can really feel like a chore moving it to the side of the screen, but that's when you can tap space to recentre on yourself.
imo it doesn't really matter, I guess in theory higher is better if you can control it well but ultimately I think it's really irrelevant compared to everything else in league
Regarding Oblivion Orb in the Ahri vs Sylas matchup: The grievious wounds also applies to health regen and cuts it from D-shield and pots. Anytime you apply grievious wounds you do an additional 3-17 true damage over 3 seconds per application (depends on champ, lvl, pots, items like D-shield, etc.) which scales with missing HP (because the health regen from D-shield scales with missing HP). So anytime you apply it, you cut over 10 % effectiveness from health pots and a similar amount from the D-shield-value. A pro should be expected to be able to apply grevious wounds continuously (for example with Ahri W). In these secenarious, it is roughly the value of the rune Cheap Shot, a bit higher, if you can apply it multiple times during an active health pot. The math is a bit tedious, because you have to calculate it manually as the item tool tip is bugged and does not display the champ health regen cut. Additionally, it gives AP equivalent to 1.75 amp tomes. In certain matchups against D-shield-users and for champs with relatively low mana costs like Ahri and Azir, it might actually be the optimal first buy, if you use the passive well enough. Just my two cents; many thanks and much love for the great videos and in detail analysis!
Potentially it is optimal at the first buy, but you're still delaying your first item (and later rabadons) by 800 gold which is pretty significant. I did watch the two recent oblivion orb videos though from Shakarez and MarkZ and I think they discussed it pretty well
@@ShokLeague Thanks for the answer! Absolutely agreeing with your point, you are trading laning power for scaling. In this specific matchup with Kindred vs Graves in the jungle, where both junglers want to invade, I can see it being of high value, having Sylas constantly under tower with half HP. Shout out to Shakarez and MarkZ, it is where I got the math from. I brought it all up, since the item has an abysmal reputation in parts of the community. On a side note, I do not think anyone else is doing pro analysis such in depth as yours. Very grateful for that, keep it up!
What I find really nice is the fact that after you disagree with the choice that the players made, you explain why do you think it's bad AND give a solution that could work out better.
my dilema with these assassin vs control mage matchups is while you can survive and be healthier and up in cs its almost impossible to roam or influence the map against these perma push poke machines all they have to do is keep u in lane and your early to midgame power is diminished. The best yo can do is hope they roam themselves and you follow them for a successful squirmish In solo Q if ur team losses really hard early while ur stuck in lane its almost always over. And its not like you can stall to late since these assassins fall off
There are pros and cons to both sides. Mages will probably look at the matchup and say while you can poke out the assassin you can never actually kill them, and if any fight breaks out pre 15 minutes the assassin is almost certainly gonna have higher impact

Unrelated to the video, but do you think twitch mid is good enough to climb with? (Both ad and ap)
It's pretty average I'd say

hey shok, just wondering what you thought about rod of ages on cass. is it good at all, and if so is it better as a second item? Thanks!
imo not gonna be that good, liandry is too good to give up. Maybe ROA will replace crown after it gets buffed though

Brilliant. Will you ever do a full in depth guide to Malzahar like the ones you did for Cassio, Sylas, etc?
I might eventually

Still worth it if you have not much else to do or if your champs farms camps quickly
