Short and quick to the point. Thank you bro!
You're welcome, mate! I'm thrilled to hear it helped you out!😊😊
thanks for the video. should I transfer my sim to the new phone before doing this process, before ever turning on the new phone? if not, when should i transfer the sim card?
It's best to complete the data transfer process before transferring your SIM card. Set up your new phone first, follow the data transfer steps, and once everything is transferred, you can insert your SIM card into the new phone. This helps avoid any interruptions during the transfer process.
@@EverydayThings excellent! thanks for the reply.
You're welcome! 😊
I skipped the initial startup due to time constraint. My new phone had been setup but the data had not been transferred. You clip did not show another way to do this transfer AFTER the setup with the data transfer. Google site tells me to Tab on the Pixel. Hahaha.... Where?
To access the data transfer option again, you can open the 'Settings' app and navigate to the 'Account and Backup' settings. In some cases, you may also find an option labeled 'Finish Setting Up' in the 'Settings' menu. This should allow you to transfer your data after the initial setup.
Did you find solution?
How to send data without cable
What if the old device has app data that's incompatible with the new pixel -- hopefully google thought of that when selecting "apps"?
When transferring data to a new Pixel, Google attempts to ensure app compatibility. However, if certain app data isn't compatible, here are a few steps you can take:
Check App Updates: Make sure all apps are updated to the latest version on both devices.
Manual Backup: Some apps allow manual backups within their settings, which can then be restored on the new device.
Contact Developer: If a specific app's data isn't transferring correctly, contacting the app developer for advice can be helpful.
Alternative Apps: If an app is incompatible, there might be alternative apps available that offer similar functionality and better compatibility with your new Pixel.
Thanks very informative
Thank you for your feedback, and I'm delighted that the guide was helpful to you. Have a great day!😊😊
Mine just sits at the "connect both devices using the cable" screen. Must be nice to have it just work like its supposed to.
Check the Cable: Ensure you're using a high-quality USB cable that supports data transfer.
Restart Devices: Sometimes, a simple restart of both devices can solve connectivity issues.
Update Software: Make sure both phones have the latest software updates installed.
Try Another Method: If it still doesn't work, you can use Google Drive to back up your old phone and then restore from the backup on your new Pixel.
What can you do if one of your two phones runs out of battery life? I followed everything you were saying without any problems until that happened well into the process. Now it won't pick up where it left off, and I'm not sure how much got transferred prior to the interruption. I did manually move all the information to my PC, so I guess I'm safe; however, not sure if the apps and settings were fully completed prior -wish I could be sure before restoring my phone?
If you're unsure whether the apps and settings were fully transferred before the interruption, you have a couple of options. Firstly, you could try the process again to ensure everything gets transferred properly. Alternatively, if you're concerned about the integrity of the data on your new Pixel device, you can perform a factory reset to restore it to its original settings. Then, you can repeat the transfer process, ensuring that both phones have sufficient battery life to complete the transfer without any interruptions.
Apps transfer with data? Like account auth sessions, etc.
Most of them are not transferred, for example, online banks or similar accounts with sensitive information. When you transfer data, only the applications themselves are transferred, not the data associated with your accounts, like authentication sessions
How if my old pixel was broken, may i download it on new pixel
If your old Pixel device is broken and not functioning at all, it might not be possible to directly download the data onto your new Pixel. The transfer process typically requires confirmation on both devices to initiate the transfer. However, if your old device is completely damaged and won't even turn on, you may need to explore alternative methods such as data recovery services.
@@EverydayThings My crappy old 5a had the KNOWN ISSUE known as black screen of death. So the phone works but the screen doesn't is there a way to transfer everything? Or is it absokutely necessary to accept things on the old phones screen?
You can try connecting your old phone to your PC or laptop. If, by default, "Data transfer" is selected in the USB settings, you should be able to access and transfer your data even if the screen is not working.
@@EverydayThings Nope. Pretty sure charge only is selected by default in the damn stupid phone. By the way, do you think it might "just" be a dead screen? If I got the part would it work? Or is the issue more complicated like motherboard failure? Though the phone wouldnt work AT ALL if that was the case, right?
@@sideskroll You're right, determining the exact issue can be challenging. It might be the screen, motherboard, or other components. To diagnose and fix the problem, it's best to consult a professional technician or the phone's manufacturer. They can provide a more accurate assessment and guide you on the best course of action.
Please help:
I'm trying to transfering from my Samsung Galaxy A37 phone to Xiaomi Redmi Pad tablet.
Via USB-C it fails.
Via Wifi it fails.
Via google backup, it fails.
All fail.. Thanks google...
Any idea what I can do to solve this? Thanks.
Here are a few suggestions:
USB Connection:
Ensure both devices are unlocked.
Use the original USB-C cable.
On the Xiaomi Redmi Pad, check if the USB option is set to File Transfer/MTP.
Wi-Fi Connection:
Confirm both devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi network.
Try using a third-party file transfer app from the Google Play Store.
Google Backup:
Check if your Samsung Galaxy A37 has the latest Google Play services.
Make sure both devices are signed in with the same Google account.
On the Xiaomi Redmi Pad, ensure Google Drive is installed and updated.
If these steps don't resolve the issue, you might want to try transferring smaller batches of data or use alternative methods. If the problem persists, it could be specific to the devices or their configurations.
I hope this
This should include logins of apps as well as bluetooth devices that we used on the old phone. Why are we having to re-sign in to apps and re-set up a pixel watch when upgrading a pixel phone in 2024?!?!
While the data transfer process can move a lot of information, certain data, like logins and Bluetooth pairings, often require reconfiguration due to security and privacy measures. This is due to app policies-some apps will retain logins, but others require you to re-enter your credentials regardless of which phone you transfer from.
Can I do the same after setting up my phone
Yes, you can transfer data from your old Android phone to your Google Pixel even after setting up your phone. The option to do so can be found in the "Account and Backup" settings.
so I can't get past the "verify your account" it just keeps coming back to the "verify your account" screen. I put in my email and password and it just keeps coming back to the same screen....help!!!
When you're stuck on the 'verify your account' screen, ensure that you've completed the verification process. Did you receive an SMS or a call from your Google account to verify your identity? Make sure to follow through with the verification method provided by Google. If the issue persists, double-check your internet connection and try restarting the device.
Does this method works even if the old phone doesn't support OTG?
i can connect my old phone which has micro USB and don't support OTG to new one with type C via converter and it'll be charged but it's not showing file transfer option like it showed while connecting to computer, but i didn't tested it on initial phone setup which you're showing here.
No, this method does not work if the old phone does not support OTG. OTG stands for On-The-Go, and it is a standard that allows you to connect a variety of devices to your phone, such as keyboards, mice, and flash drives. If your old phone does not support OTG, you will not be able to connect it to your new Google Pixel phone using a USB cable. If your old phone does not support OTG, you will need to use a different method to transfer your data, such as using a cloud storage service or a data transfer cable.
There is not option like finish setting up device or accounts and backup HELP
Make sure that you are logged in with a Google account on your Pixel device. If possible, ensure it's the same account as your old phone. Additionally, the 'Finish setting up' option is usually at the top of your screen in settings!
Needed a tutorial for the transfer AFTER the new phone has been set up. Like when you've selected 'remind me later'. Why is that option or help so hard to find?
If you've already set up your new phone and selected 'remind me later', you can still transfer your data by opening the 'Settings' app and navigating to the 'Account and Backup' settings. In some cases, you may also find an option labeled 'Finish Setting Up' in the 'Settings' menu, which will guide you through the data transfer process without requiring a factory reset. I hope this helps!
Hello, does it copy files and folders installed from PC? Or apps downloaded from other sources?
Yes, typically, the transfer process should include copying both files and apps installed from your PC, as well as those downloaded from other sources. However, it's essential to double-check during the transfer process to ensure that all desired files and apps are selected for transfer.
Not connecting either with wifi or cable
If your phone isn't connecting with Wi-Fi or cable, first try restarting both devices and ensuring the cable is working properly. For Wi-Fi transfers, make sure both phones are connected to the same network. If that doesn't help, try using Google's "Data Transfer Tool" app or a third-party transfer app to troubleshoot.
Is the data from the apps/games I use going to be left behind or will it transfer too?
In most cases, the data from apps and games won't transfer automatically. For apps like emails and those with personal cloud storage, your data will be retained in the cloud storage. However, for games and similar apps, the saved data, such as progress and levels reached, might not transfer over.
All wahtsapp data?
How about the second Account from my old Pixel to the New one?
To transfer all WhatsApp data, including data from a second account, follow these steps:
Backup Your Data:
Open WhatsApp on your old Pixel.
Go to Settings > Chats > Chat backup.
Tap "Back Up" to save your chats to Google Drive.
Transfer to New Pixel:
Install WhatsApp on your new Pixel.
During setup, restore your chat history from Google Drive.
For transferring the second account:
Make sure to log out of your first account on WhatsApp on the new Pixel.
Then, log in with your second account and repeat the backup and restore process.
This should help you transfer all your WhatsApp data, including from a second account.
I need to transfer only my notes appl to the new pixel 8 pro.. because it did not transfer my notes and I need all of them. How can I do that? only one appli tranfer
You can transfer your notes from your old device to your new Google Pixel 8 Pro manually using the following methods:
USB Cable Method:
Connect your old smartphone to your Pixel 8 Pro using a USB cable.
On your old smartphone, select "Data Transfer" from the USB connection options.
Your Pixel 8 Pro should recognize your old device as an external storage device, and you can explore its folders.
Find the folder containing your notes and copy them.
Paste the notes into the desired location on your Pixel 8 Pro.
"Move To" Method:
On your old smartphone, select all the notes you want to transfer.
Choose the "Move To" option.
Navigate to the folders on your Pixel 8 Pro and move the notes to your new device.
#Nearby Sharing:
Select all the notes you wish to transfer on your old smartphone.
Use the "Nearby Sharing" feature.
Locate your Google Pixel 8 Pro in the nearby devices list and initiate the transfer.
The notes should be sent to your Pixel 8 Pro.
Please note that the actual steps and options may vary depending on the models and operating systems of your devices. These methods should help you transfer your notes to your new Pixel 8 Pro.
First time I did this it di not trnsfer my texts and other things.. Now I cant seem to bring up this option anymore? How do I run setup again?
To access the data transfer option again, you can open the 'Settings' app and navigate to the 'Account and Backup' settings. In some cases, you may also find an option labeled 'Finish Setting Up' in the 'Settings' menu, which will allow you to transfer your data without performing a factory reset.
Non of this worked for me. Only my picture transferred. No apps and nothing else.
f only your picture transferred and none of your apps or other data, there may be some issues with the transfer settings or compatibility between the devices. You might want to double-check the transfer method you used and ensure that all necessary permissions were granted during the process. Additionally, some data, like apps, might require manual reinstallation from the Google Play Store after the transfer.
Also, make sure that you check the apps to transfer during the process and ensure that the process is finished till the end without interruptions. Also, make sure that your Gmail account is logged in on your new Pixel phone.
I hate doing this everything wants you to log in with a password i always seem not to have saved and have probably been using fingerprint for. For some reason i never know my password to Google account. 😢
If you're having trouble remembering your Google account password, you can try resetting it using the phone number associated with your account. Just go to the Google account recovery page on the phone where you're already logged in and follow the prompts to reset your password. This should help you regain access to your Google account without too much hassle.
My data transferred without the cable.
That's great! Wireless transfer makes it even easier. 👍😊😊
How
@@sanjaykumar6599 To transfer data without a cable, you can use methods like:
Google Account Backup: Sync your data with your Google account, then sign in on your new device to restore everything.
Wi-Fi Direct or Bluetooth: Some phones offer direct wireless transfer options.
Third-party apps: Use apps like Shareit, Google Drive, or Google Photos to move files wirelessly.
I hope this helps
Very helpfull

What if your photos and videos won't get transferred over?
If your photos and videos aren't transferring, make sure you have enough storage on your new device and that they are selected in the transfer process. You can also try using Google Photos to back up and transfer your media. Open Google Photos on your old device, back up all your photos and videos, and then sign in to Google Photos on your new device to access them.
@@EverydayThings Unfortunately, for me my old device is unresponsive so I'm about to download "terabox" and maybe after that there will be enough storage space on my new device for it to work. Letting all the videos and photos to be transferred over to the new phone 🤷🏽♂️
@@EverydayThings Plus! I keep trying to do another data transfer from my old phone to the new one but it won't let me 🤨 So I'm not too sure what else to do besides just pray and hope that once there's more space on this phone at the videos and photos with just transfer maybe later on today at some point when there's more space.
It sounds like you're in a tough spot. If your old device is unresponsive, backing up to a cloud service like Google Photos might not be possible. Terabox could be a good alternative to free up space. Once you have enough storage on your new device, try the transfer again.
If the transfer still doesn't work, you might want to consider using a USB cable and a computer to manually transfer your photos and videos. Connect your old phone to the computer, copy the files, and then transfer them to your new device.
Praying for more space is always good, but also ensure all apps and unnecessary files are removed to create as much room as possible. Sometimes, performing a factory reset on your new device (after backing up what's already on it) can help clear any lingering issues with the transfer process.
Hopefully, with more space, the transfer will go smoothly.
@@EverydayThings Thank you man. I'm gonna try to hook it up to a computer with the USB and see if I can get the data that way. If that doesn't work then I'll try to do the factory reset again. Then do the transfer again.. Hopefully I don't lose everything when doing so, but I oh well. Hakuna Matata I suppose..
Hello, If I choose copy All Photos & Videos to the internal memory of the new Pixel, and then uploading images and videos to Google Photos can be doubled?
If you choose to copy all your photos and videos to the internal memory of your new Pixel and then upload them to Google Photos, they won't be doubled. Google Photos recognizes duplicates and won't upload them again if they're already in your Google Photos library. So, you shouldn't worry about duplication in this case.
@@EverydayThings thank you!
@@quyettam307 You're welcome!😊😊
@@EverydayThings Unfortunately, my photos were duplicated when uploading to Google Photos 🙂
@@quyettam307 Normal Google Photos should recognize duplicates, so I'm not sure why this happened. However, there should be an option like "Save Memory" or something similar that suggests which files or photos to delete, especially duplicates?😕😕
Hey bro. Can you do oneplus os port on pixel 3? I want the app lock feature
Hey! Unfortunately, porting OnePlus OS to a Pixel 3 is quite complex and not recommended due to potential compatibility issues. However, you can try third-party apps from the Play Store that offer an app lock feature, like AppLock or Norton App Lock. They should work well on your Pixel 3!
@@EverydayThings How about install linage os 20. It has this new app lock feature. Can you test it pls :)
@@kaenkenji Installing Lineage OS 20 could be a good solution since it includes the app lock feature you're looking for. However, please be aware that installing a custom ROM can be complex and might void your warranty. If you're comfortable with the process and willing to take the risk, you can give it a try. Make sure to back up your data first and follow detailed instructions from a reliable source. Good luck!
I did the same exact thing but my apps didn't transfer from Samsung to Google phone!!!!!
following and the error messages or warnings you're seeing.
Please provide me with the following information:
What specific steps are you taking to transfer your apps?
What error messages or warnings are you seeing?
Are you using the latest version of the Google Play Store on both your Samsung and Google phones?
Are you connected to a Wi-Fi network when transferring your apps?
Are you logged in to the same Google account on both your Samsung and Google phones?
Once I have more information, I can help you troubleshoot the issue and get your apps transferred successfully.
I hope this helps!
Hi there, while I connect the data cable to transfer the files. I'm getting a notification that your device has been disconnected. I tried multiple times to check it but it's of no use. Can you help me out ?
what about SIM card?
Transferring a SIM card is indeed straightforward. You can simply remove it from your old device and insert it into your new Google Pixel smartphone. This way, you'll have your contacts and cellular service on your new device.
This doesn't work for transferring from S21 Ultra to Pixel 6 Pro.
Could you provide more details on what happens when you try to transfer data from your S21 Ultra to Pixel 6 Pro? This will help me understand the problem better and provide you with more specific assistance. Thanks!
@@EverydayThings yes, it only brings up 3 apps which do nothing to help transfer, gallery, photos and another I can't remember with no other option. I can't access the system either to change to type of connection as in transfer files. I just used my Google account to transfer everything over. Thanks
Great to hear you found a solution using your Google account! Also, sharing your experience can be helpful for others facing a similar situation. Thanks!
Does this transfer App passwords too?
Some apps and accounts will transfer, but not all. Some apps have strong security features, and it's not possible to transfer the passwords. You'll need to re-login by entering the password again.
How much it takes ??
The time it takes to transfer data from your old Android phone to a Google Pixel varies depending on the amount of data you have. If your data is around 1 GB, the transfer can be completed in less than a minute. However, if you have a larger amount, such as 100 GB or 200 GB, it may take more than 10 minutes to complete the transfer. So, the transfer time is directly proportional to the size of the data you're moving.
Does it transfer paired bluetooth devices data
No, it doesn't transfer paired Bluetooth devices' data. The data transfer process typically focuses on apps, settings, and media, but Bluetooth pairings are usually device-specific and not included in the transfer
@@EverydayThings thanks
WILL THIS COPY GMAIL ACCOUNTS & OTHER SOCIAL MDEDIA PASSWRDS TOO???
As for transferring to social networks, you have to choose it in the transfer process, and many of them also transfer the password. However, for added security, you may need to confirm the password. Your Google account will also be transferred, but as far as I remember, you must also confirm the password for it.
How do I do the transfer without having to factor reset my pixel ?
If your Google Pixel is already set up, you can access the data transfer option by opening the 'Settings' app and navigating to 'Account and Backup' settings. Alternatively, on certain models, you may find an option labeled 'Finish Setting Up' in the 'Settings' menu. Selecting this option allows you to transfer your data without the need for a factory reset.
@@EverydayThings Thank you!
@@Pyth110 You're welcome! 😊😊
Yes but that just takes you to back up stuff it doesn't actually send the albums from old phone over to new pixel
Brother I'm not able to see any of above options you listed. What should i do now??
Hi ive transferred all my old apps over to the pixel but none of my logins and passwords have transferred over.. not sure whst i csn do
Old phone is android
Unfortunately, logins and passwords for apps like Facebook, Gmail or similar can't be automatically transferred due to security reasons. You'll need to manually log in and confirm your identity for these accounts on your new Pixel. It's an extra layer of security to ensure that your sensitive information remains protected.
@@EverydayThings thanks for getting back to me.. what a complete pain in the back side. Not sure I can be bothered doing that perhaps I'll send the phone back.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, it's entirely reasonable to consider sending the phone back, especially if it doesn't align with your expectations or preferences. Customer satisfaction is crucial, and you should choose the option that best suits your needs.
My phone doesn't let me do it. It doesn't come up with that white and blue page after connecting
To troubleshoot the issue you're facing with your phone not displaying the white and blue page after connecting, there are a few steps you can try:
Ensure that you have a compatible USB cable for data transfer. Some cables are only designed for charging and may not support data transfer. Try using a different USB cable to see if that resolves the issue.
On both devices, check the settings for USB transfer or file transfer. Make sure that this option is enabled. You can usually find this setting in the "Developer options" or "Storage & USB" section of your phone's settings.
Restart both your phone and the device you're transferring data to (e.g., Google Pixel). Sometimes a simple restart can resolve any temporary software glitches.
It transferred everything except the documents. What to do? Any alternative.
If the documents didn't transfer, you can try using Google Drive or another cloud storage service to manually upload and download them. Alternatively, you can connect both phones to a computer and transfer the documents directly. Hope this helps!
I can't do mine
We'd be happy to help. If you could share more details about the issue you're facing while transferring data, such as any error messages or specific steps where you're encountering problems, it would be easier for us to provide you with a solution.
Will my wattsapp data tranfer too, without needing to transfer
I haven't personally tested WhatsApp data transfer specifically, but when transferring data from your old Android phone to a Google Pixel device, some apps do transfer seamlessly. However, for WhatsApp, it's important to note that the transfer process might be different. If you're using the same phone number on your Google Pixel device, there's a chance that your WhatsApp data will be transferred. However, it's recommended to ensure you have a recent backup of your WhatsApp data on your old phone and follow the appropriate steps to restore it on your Google Pixel device.
This doesn't work mate. I've used USBC cords on both and it won't recognise either.
ALSO, NEVER BUY GOOGLE PHONES, THEY ARE FAULTY AF
There are a few things you can try:
Check the cable: Make sure you're using a high-quality USB-C cable that is compatible with both your old Android phone and your Google Pixel. A cheap or damaged cable can cause problems with data transfer.
Clean the connectors: Both the USB-C ports on your phones may be dirty or obstructed, which can interfere with data transfer. Gently clean the connectors with a soft cloth to remove any dirt or debris.
Check the connection: Make sure both phones are connected securely to each other. The USB-C connectors should be properly aligned and firmly inserted into the ports.
Restart both phones: Sometimes, restarting your phones can clear any temporary glitches that may be causing data transfer issues.
Update the drivers: Ensure that the USB drivers are up-to-date on both your old Android phone and your Google Pixel. Outdated drivers can sometimes cause compatibility issues.
Try a different USB port: If you're using a computer, try using a different USB port. Sometimes, a specific port can be faulty and prevent data transfer.
Use a different data transfer method: If the USB-C cable method isn't working, you can try a different data transfer method, such as using a cloud-based service like Google Drive or Dropbox to back up your data and then restore it to your new phone.
I hope this helps!
Cry about it
Wired is a pain in the arse
Wired connections can be a bit cumbersome. If you're looking for a wireless alternative, you might want to explore using cloud services for data transfer.
