I have been in Kuala Lumpur's, Singapore's and Bangkok's Chinatowns... The best one is Bangkok's ChinaTown...

I love Bangkok's China town, but I never been to another city China town so I can't compare.

Why should Chinatowns be authentic? Chinatowns in Asia are great fusion of local and Chinese cultures. Nyonya culture in Melaka and Penang, and the Catholic Filipino Chinese culture in Manila are examples.

Londons Chinatown is nothing like it was, the community has been pushed out by high rents and lack of support from the councils. Toronto has one of the most authentic Chinatowns in regards to shops/services and community ❤️

Most of Chinatowns overseas are either from Migrant citizens of Hongkong, Taiwan or Canton (Guangzhou).
In my country... The Philippines... the first Chinese people who made the oldest china town in the world are the traders/warriors/craftsman of the MING DYNASTY (who defied Emperor MING) they came from HUBEI, SHIYAN, FUJIAN, GUANGDONG, SHANGHAI and GUANG ZHOU... at the that time they were called SANGLEY (siong lai) means an adherent visitor that frequent our lands... but now we are called CHINOY a merge of chinese and filipino/pinoy... by the i'm a EURASIAN... HALF SPANISH and QUARTER FILIPINO AND CHINESE...

Back in the 80's my mom and I spent 8 hours in San Francisco Chinatown, highlight of the trip was at lunch time we just followed the crowds to the best places to eat and take food back to our hotel

I am Chinese from a country where it is only 1% Chinese. Now I have visited three Chinatowns in my Life - Parsa Saini Chinatown - Kuala Lumpur, Chinatown - Singapore, and now currently in Wat Mangkhon Chinatown - Bangkok.

I wish I went to the chinatown in Japan, I stayed not too far off from there, but with only two weeks there was little time to do everything. I don't regret it though, just means i have to go back again.
I've been to all of Chinatown in Japan: Yokohama, Kobe, & Nagasaki

Agreed with the top pick, SF is indeed having the best CT. However, the one in Vancouver is garbage. I live in Vancouver, I have never been to a Chinatown with more homeless people than the one in Vancouver. Vancouver’s CHinatown is right beside most of the metro cities’ homeless shelters. And they often come and taint the beautiful Chinatown street. Outside of the classical garden smells like pee all the time because they kept coming to piss at there. I hate the situation Vancouver’s Chinatown is in.

Paul Jay what? I believe its the best time for this kind of topics, specially after all the racism and hatred the Chinese and the Asian American community are suffering of around the states. It is actually the perfect timing in order for everyone to stop thinking of China = coronavirus. Its not there fault that the government of western countries have not manage to respond how they were supposed to to the pandemic.
