    I have some allium bulbs in my garden, they are beautiful. I didn't know that reseeding was an problem for alliums. Mine don't seem to reseed. I actually wish they did because I'd love some more. I thought they just spread sometimes by the bulbs spreading. Allium summer beauty, I see can be sold as a perennial in soil? I've only ever bought alliums as bulbs! Summer beauty looks more pink than the typical purple allium. I am excited to try it.

    So much to learn!!! Thank you for explaining in an organized and easy to understand way. Feeling less overwhelmed and inspired now. Am ordering your book today and hoping that I can find enough plants for (Zone 9) California drought challenges!!! Thank you.

    Another great video! Thanks Roy. We just installed a 2.5" caliper Linden tree in our front yard and I was interested in starting a "carex community" underneath it, but I was afraid of the competition with the yet to be established tree. Your Wilhelm anecdote gave me some encouragement.

    I started Calamintha from seed this year. I hope they are the good ones! And I am very anxious to hear more about using carex.

      The ones you want do not come from seed. Buy one plant and then you can take cuttings which root easily.

    that is very interesting information about carex and oak tree . do you have any idea of the similar companionship of Japanese maple?

      sedges compatible with your location should work. Check your local nursery or a botanic garden within the area where you live.

    If you have carex as living mulch, can you have bulbs growing through them?

    Too short a video :( I have little Bluestem coming and looking forward to creating a community with it. I was getting Big Bluestem but cancelled those plants because they are intimidating and too large for my space. I need to find Carex that can live in zone 3!

    • @RoyDiblik
      @RoyDiblik  4 роки тому

      Carex pensylvanica and Carex amphibola are both zone 3 to zone 9. I'm sure there are others - do a google search for 'zone 3 native Carex' to find more.

      @@RoyDiblikThanks for those two names but I should have clarified - I need to find a source for Carex as in Thunder Bay there are few options and very few online nurseries that send by mail. I will see if I can source those two.
