Carried by a wind of freedom, the CHANEL Cruise 2024/25 show was held at the MAMO, Centre d’art de la Cité radieuse in Marseille. The collection imagined by Virginie Viard combines an underwater reverie with reflections of the sun through embroideries, diving hoods, sequinned jackets and swimwear.

​@@Lena_pinkk I do not like the color palette used in most garments, the green and yellow shades for example; I do not like the collar structure in most dresses, to close to the base of the neck; I find the collection not elegant but somewhat somber; I find the fabrics lackluster. The collection, to me, lacks vitality. And I always say that there is nothing more beautiful in fashion that a Chanel collection! This was a surprised to me. Again, it's my opinion.

@@Cath452 Les collections de Virginie n'ont certes pas la même inventivité qu'au temps de Lagerfeld, qui proposait une ligne identifiable à chaque fois, au risque de l'exercice de style, mais les vêtements proposés par Virginie sont plus accessibles. Chanel a aujourd'hui une force de frappe tellement importante qu'elle peut se contenter de resservir à peu près toujours la même chose: ses clientes veulent des vêtements qui ressemblent à du Chanel. Virginie ne va pas ruiner Chanel: les boutiques parisiennes, chaque fois que je passe devant, sont pleines.

@@Cath452 Bonjour. Merci beaucoup pour votre réponse. Je suis tout à fait d'accord avec vous : on peut avoir beaucoup d'argent et peu de goût, je crois même que c'est très souvent le cas. Pour ma part je trouve le Chanel de Viard moins agressif que ce qu'on voit chez le Balenciaga de D. Gsavalia ou certaines collections de H. Slimane (que j'admire beaucoup par ailleurs) à l'époque de Saint Laurent. Pour ma part je ne trouve pas les collections de Virginie Viard plus vulgaires que ce que Lagerfeld a pu faire au tout début des années 1990. Mais évidemment je vous rejoins dans le sens où Chanel est sans doute moins excitant qu'avant.

This is one of the most iconic building of the 20Th century, it is Le Corbusier in Marseille. A lot of innovations that nobody had done before (it is basically a whole city in a buiding) you may not appreciate it but it is an important piece of architecture. You're welcome.

I believe that the choice of location for the show was a strategy. Le Corbusier had a very austere, minimalist way of designing, with no excess. Virginie repeats the same line as previous collections.

If Chanel is reading these comments, please consider Ralph Rucci, Jeffrey Banks, Louis Dell Olio, Norma Kamali - there are so many super star talents that are not being called upon, who have many years of experience and appreciate Coco and Karl's work and would honor the Chanel vision without disrupting the brand like Virginie. What a catastrophe! How can a designer mess up a template that has been in place now over 40 years from Karl's concept books???? Is she stupid? Ralph Rucci said he would be honored to oversee the Chanel vision and take on the lead as creative director.
