After a lot of reviews and as a musician and pilot, THANK YOU for this review. THE most complete in terms of detailed specs and day over day use. Regards from Portugal
I've had the same pair since 2012 still good
Great, accurate review. I bought some of these in November 2011 and they finally appeared to have died yesterday (mid-July 2020). I've used them every day (particularly for the past few years) and they've never let me down. I was going to try some other headphones but I can't imagine using anything else!
wow, it is true that you can hear the plastic creaking?
@@rookie8960 Yes, but only when you move your head significantly. Most of the time, if you're sitting still, you won't hear it much at all
@@SongBillong they were so good, now you can get a pair for 70 euros, i think its very good, but its a shame that the build quality sucks.
Aside that issue, you had other problem with them? Nothing broken?
Oh and i wanted to know about the pads, everybody say that are uncomfortable and you need to replace them with the shr 840 model, which is your experience about that? Ive also read that you dont need amp, which is your experience? Thanks a lot, you are helping me a lot.
@@rookie8960 The build quality is not bad at all (my pair stayed strong for almost 10 years, although I was definitely very careful with them). The creaking is just a side effect of the design. I had no issues with them apart from that.
The pads - Yes, I also replaced them with the 840 pads. They're much more comfortable and higher quality. The 440 pads are made from a cheap material that starts to crumble after a few weeks of regular wear.
Amp - You don't necessarily need an amp but I did buy one. I bought a Fiio E11, which really showed the headphone's potential. I don't think they make the E11 anymore but they are still for sale online, I think. There are lots of similar amps available, though, and they're not overly expensive so I think they're worth it. I also bought one of Fiio's lineout cables to use with the amp (but that's optional).
@@SongBillong i dont really know.... i have read tons of review saying that after a while, could be 6 months, or 1 year they break... the build quality sucks, the part that can break is the bottom of the arch, the part attached to the earpads, i like i said there are tons of review, it seems like if you have a big head is more likely that it happens but i would not buy the shure just for the fact that if you have a small head is less likely that they break, its absurd, really absurd.
So i dont think im gonna buy them, my choices are pretty much the shure 440, audio technica m40x, takstar pro 82. And i can't really decide, i think i'm gonna go with the takstar considering that you can get them for 40 dollars, but i dont really know, give me some advice pls!! 🙏❤️
Great review! Thanks bro! I already bought one to record with my kids and I am very satisfied with the quality.. now buying a 2nd one :-) keep om the good work!
How do they sound with everyday listening
I mix and produce classical music. These headphones are great for that even though their price is impressively low.
Can you plug more 3.5mm cables into it besides the one provided?
@@J0NCL0UD It needs to be 3.5 on one end and 2.5 on the other. Plenty of cables like this available online. I've only used the original but I am sure any brand cable would do.
@@prometheus23c thank you for the info! Didnt know it was 2.5 at the headphones.
I am grateful to you for your in-depth knowledge about this Shure SRH 440 Headset. I made the wise decision in buying this high quality headset today.
Great review, very accurate description!
Looks like a nice set of headphones. I myself use a pair of Audio Technica, I think they were $100, but got them on sale for $60 CND. I just wish they had the removable cord.Bose is so over rated, I have had many of their products and not impressed with the quality of sound. I am going to check out the Shure SR440, I need another set for my guitar amp when jamming at night.
Unknown Records u don’t really want to use Bose for studio monitoring.
Thanks! Nice detail and compact review
Excellent review on all levels.
Thanks for the review dood. Super helpful!
Thanks for watching!
I play alot of heavy metal on guitar. will they withstand the distortion?
might be a little late but yes. I've played my guitar (on distortion) and it still sounds the same after
All the best for your 1k subs 😍😍😍
My question how come the jack is not compatible with normal jacks?
Just got them very nice. Comparable to ath m50x
@jake pool music any ideas what is a good headphone for casual listener that likes a bit more base - not a super flat headphone graph? thx
I have a pair of these and find it's hard to even hear much bass. Makes mixing tracks difficult. I also have some audio technica ath-m50x but they are on the other extreme - way too bassy. Why can't some company just make a decent, well-balanced pair of headphones
what about the ath-m40x? i'm in doubt between them and the shure 440
@@bloxargames hey dude I'm also confused between them
@@bloxargames can you please tell me which one should i get from
1) Ath M-40X
2) Shure SRH-440
3) Beyerdynamic DT-240 pro
@@bloxargames which one did you buy?
@@pannuboi2807 I actually didn't buy any of them yet, but I decided to go for the m40x or maybe even the m30x if the price difference is worth it. I believe you should do more research on the beyerdinamic, because they have some really great headphones and I don't know that model you want to buy.
just ordered a pair of these!I use Audio Technica ATH-M30X that are great but very crampy at the end of the day!
PEOPLE NEW TO SHURE HEADPHONES READ PLEASE: The materials used by Shure on these headphones is subpar, they will break at the hinge in a year or less. Some people have suggested that head size might be a factor, i have a relatively big head so make of that what you will. People with smaller heads seem to have no problem with them though.
Do u hear the plasticy sounds when they are on your head? I hear that plasticy creaking with mt5 Yamahas and it’s super annoying!
Ur vids better than Jake Pauls xD
Anz Beatz true
LOL whenever someone suggests that a balanced, flat frequency reproducing set of headphones may not be the best for actual listening (?!). Since when should the headphone be expected to alter the music? Apparently, since bass-addicted non-audio posers have biased the mediocre mass marketing of such products. Monitoring requires the best frequency reproduction, which should in all cases provide the closest thing to the artist/engineer's concept. Play with your tone controls if you must, but never confuse what you have come to desire, with the music as it was intended.
Good points 👍🏼
ATH-M40x have been my favorite for years (not a fan of the M50x as they aren't close to flat), but I'm thinking of trying a pair of these Shure SRH440.
Hi Markus, did you buy the Shures at the end? How are they compared to the m40x?
@@kriszv I'm wearing m40x right now, and my srh440 is broken in two, but still very functional for listening. I like the way the Shure sounds, seems more solid to my ears compared to the m40x. The earcups of the m40x is smaller, and the pads touch the edges of my ears and will feel warm/hot on your ears.. The SRH440 has bigger cups and fit better over my ears. Expect both to hurt the top of your head after a while, not much padding on the band, wear a hat or get padding for it and you'll be fine. HOWEVER, if you do have a relatively big head, the SRH440 will snap/break at some point. The headband on my srh440 snapped under 2 years. I just superglued it but it failed as a different point. It's a shame, and I intend to get that headband fixed, but something to consider on how it sits on your head when you try it out.
@@HaroldWong could you please measure the circumference of your head? it would be helpful to know the breaking limit of this headphones.
@@HaroldWong It's kinda creepy but it would be helpful for me too, I'm afraid of buying these headphones 'cause of this "head size problem"
@@weslleyoliveira9751 hey so which one did you buy
Nice review..
Your review is convincing for me cuz you were glasses and I wear glasses, meaning it should be comfortable for me
ngl...i expected a pun half way reading ur comment xD
@@vamsikrishna7755 same
I know it's been a long time, but can you recommend me any iem that sounds similar to Shure SRH440? I have one and I love it, but I want an iem as good as it. Thanks.
I have one and it's very good 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥👌
I'm thinking about buying this one
Do you think that they need a specific amp or is it ok using them with a simple audio interface (Focusrite 2i2, for example)?
Hello, i think the shure are a extremely good pair of headphones and i used them for 3 years now(nearly every day), but since i folded them up often to take less space they broke at one side and now i cant use them anymore.
Weird, I've read a lot of reviews in which they say they break after less than a year cause of the weak plastic.
Please do NOT buy this headphones if you are making studio recordings. They are making a clicking noise if you move your head during the session which ends up in the recordings. I have even try to use silicon lubrication but that doesn't help.
Mate that's have bluetooth? Tnx
Will they work on the IPhone se
Do they work with vmoda boom pro mic?
Julio Cesar no these are more music production not gaming.
today i have shure srh440
do they suck?
