  • In today's video I describe how Azipods work! Azipods are engines on a ship that can rotate 360 degrees and replaces the need for a rudder! They also run on electricity which is made by a Diesel Generator which is more fuel efficient!

Sou aluno do curso superior de tecnologia em construção naval, da Fatec-JAHU, e estou aproveitando essas aulas como complemento estudantil, muito obrigado!

Its sort of like a monster trolling motor.

You didn't mention that Azipods can "pull" (propeller at front) as well as "push" (propeller at rear)

I really would like to Sue White Star lines. My great-grandfather almost died on the Titanic because they did not have azopods, even a simple bow thruster would have saved them.
But the reality is, if they would have just slammed directly into the iceberg with the engine at full reverse they would have damaged maybe two compartments and they could have limped it into port in Newfoundland. A few people may have died but the ship wouldn't have sunk.

would even been better if it wasnt on fire when living Southampton, and wanted to get over fast. Something With the coal Storage compartment after some Welding, grinding or something. But yes, Titanic would have greater chance going straight on the iceberg, and had higher compartments wouldnt been a bad idea.:)

Azipod technology was not developed until 1950s. Titanic was in 1912, back then they were still using steam engines. Do you really expect them to be able to get Electric Azipods and bow thrusters at that point?

I think that something as simple as a bow thruster would have easily saved Titanic as well

@@portza6363 I think it would have been technically feasible in 1912, you know, Nikola Tesla was making electric motors and generators, it's just that no one thought of this concept as development takes time. I wish I time travelled to 1900 and met with engineer Thomas Andrews, he would be stunned at all the science and technology I'd bring from this time
