Thank you Mazilli for the symmetric creation of the ZVS :) Great video and good use of the flyback core to designated HV inductor. It is a very versatile inverter circuit indeed.
how to prevent both the mosfets from turning on at the same time? When I power on the circuit, if high voltage electrodes are not near enough then circuit doesn't oscillate and both mosfets turn on and max current flows and overheats mosfets. I mean how to make the circuit oscillate without the kickback from secondary?
Great video. Do you think I could apply this circuit to an electric rat trap? I would place the electrodes 3/4" apart so that the circuit would not fire continuously but only when a rat walks on the electrodes. Then I would need the circuit to reset after the rat was dead. Do you think it would work? Any ideas on the timing. Your response is greatly appreviated.
@@ludicscience you would need some sort of timing circuit that would reset after a minute or so. I know the commercially available electric traps use 7000 volts for 2 minutes then they reset. Another trap I've researched sends out 5 short shocks to disrupt the rats heartbeat. I'm tempted to purchase one and see what type circuirt there're using. Thanks for your response.
Thanks for the video. I tried this with a prebuilt ZVS driver and can't get much current. The wire I used is #14 enameld magnet wire, on my flyback it draws 10 amps but with this arrangment it is just slightly over 2 with a dead short on the output. I didn't use the capacitors are they needed on one of those Ebay ZVS supplies? and if so what is their funcation? Thanks for any help.
This is very nice, but most Tesla coil calculations and materials available are based on the HV transformer powered by 120 or 240 volts at 50 or 60 Hz. What frequency is the ignition coil operating at here, or in your design where it is driven from a relay?
Great demo, thanks so much! Did you try it with 2 inductors as per suggestion by HV? Please show how 2 inductors can be wired into your system to eliminate central tap.
Hello, really enjoy your video's. Are you using 2 sets of 2-1k Ω resisters on this driver? And your reasoning please, I have been using 1-470 Ω in each line but I am cooking mosfets all the time. I also am using irf640 mosfets and have had success but as I stated, they keep frying. Any help would be great, Thank you
AlertIowa1234 I do have everything in surplus, I have higher rated mosfets too but everything I've read says not to use mosfets over 150 mIlliohms, what are the issues using midgets over this rating?
Try using like a IRFP240, IRFP250, IRFP260, IRFP460N, those should have a way better current handling capabilities. How many turns do you have on the inductor going to the center tap?
That is not a ferrite core toroid. It is powdered iron and judging by the yellow and white colours it is probably 26 material. Also, polypropylene capacitors would be more suitable, especially film and foil type. They are extremely rugged and very suitable for this type of usage.
this arc isnt real 6 amp 12 v arc quality. that is because the car ignition coils have steel sheet open cores therefore any frequency over 100 hz heats up the core mostly and the leftovers from the magnetic field go to the secondary and make arc. also when you wind coils around the square shaped part of the flyback core first do the windings then put the iron holder, otherwise you will heat it up a lot and loose even more energy and i recommend more turns and bigger ring for the input inductor and you can try winding 300 turns 30 awg wire secondary coil around the flyback core instead of connecting it to ignition coil
Do you have any reference to the 100 hz limit of the core? I hace driven ignition coils at 400 hz for several minutes without problems. The coil only feels a little warm
I have a better one coil ZVS. You must use two inductors who goes from + to the Drains of the mosfets. And the other coil who goes to the flyback or whatever goes from Drain to Drain with a capacitor.

I also want to do the same, I think it should work, but the tricky part will be the reset switch

Hi.do for the fish shoker??
Sir can i use MOSFET irfp4468
Won't a voltage multiplier at the coil output produce a DC output?
Can you explain what exactly the function of the inductor in the primary circuit is? What would happen without it?
Is it possible to use 13005 transistors instead using mosfet?
Hello sir please explain all electronic components
What is the mosfet model number
Just curious what purpose do the capacitors serve? I tried it without and nothing?
