Imagine getting into the olympics and finding out you have to go first
OH GAWD WHAH
Cameo Breyer I’m pretty sure that it’s every equestrian’s death
42Ø Piløts me at all me shows🤣🤣
42Ø Piløts Freaky
i'd be too dazed realizing that i'd made it to the olympics to think at all
I find it really funny when the horse makes a penalty and the rider gives the horse a dramatic pat like. “OH COME ON bUd you can do so much better.” And the horse is just happy to get patted like yeah I know I did awesome.
Seakingcat i think very often its rider error and they are rewarding their horse because they did their part as best as they could
Don’t you just love that the commentators are blaming all of the faults on the horses? Most of it was rider error 🤷🏻♀️
Kie Driskill agreed.
Kie Driskill IKR!!!!!!
irk like the extra long water jump! totally the riders fault
Yup we just love that don’t we! Blame everything on the horse! Just wow.
Agreed 👍
1:11:17 I love that the horse is only in a hackamore. I understand that Olympic riders use bits but I’m happy bc people say that u can’t correctly jump a horse in a hackamore and it proves them wrong
Same!
Seriously? Hackamores are seen quite often at this level 🤷♀️
Megan Proffitt, not really in 2012 though. They have started to become more popular now, but they still have a long way to go. No reason to be snappy.
The horse looks so much more happier than the others
I believe it was a hackamore and snaffle, loose ring by the look.
Cian o Connor was so happy with his round and I could tell that he doesn’t just think of his horse like a machine and was patting him lots and wasn’t just taking it for granted
Some people I know that aren’t horsey are telling me “Horse riding is easy! It’s just sitting on a horse and letting them do the rest.” And there is so many things wrong with that one sentence my head could burst. I mean this video shows that, Your not just sitting on a horse. You need good skills to go over these jumps, to know the strides and the timing. Even trotting is hard for beginners, by knowing if your riding on the right leg or not. So that shows that riding is not just sitting on a horse. I have had 7 years of riding and not one part of it I’m letting the horse do by it’s self. Not one little bit. So that proves you wrong. The horses as well. Horses aren’t just animals that go “Neigh” they are creatures that fly, that amaze and that do the most brilliant and wonderful things. I would not live a life like mine right now without them. So people that don’t ride. Pay respects to horses and riders and always think of how much hard word we have done and how sore our legs get after riding. And never think of how we just sit, just SIT on a horse and do nothing. Think before you speak. Or you will make someone upset.
Hannah Logan u r so TRUE! Even though I don’t ride ( I REALLY want too) everyone should give respect to the riders AND the horses. The riders need skill to actually ride and loads of practice to actually ride properly.
I know right? I hate it when people are like," The pOor hoRse is DoinG aLl The wOrk" like seriously the rider is doing half of it XD
Hannah Logan Stop being so sensitive, they’re just words. Let them learn from their ignorance on their own.
@@thecouncil2056 she was just trying to state something but I can see your point :)🐴
Hannah Logan yes very true. I actually dream of getting to the olympics.
this is the most amazing event in Olympics
For the people that tell me riding isn't a sport... go and try this , plus if it wasn't a sport it wouldn't be in the olympics.
Claudia Coulter if someone ever tells you that just remind them that ping pong is an Olympic sport lol
I say that to EVERYONE
Thank you!!!!
Nat C don’t you dare diss ping pong
Ily
i just wanna day these horse are amazing. they are so good in what they do and they worked so hard. i feel they don’t get enough for the hard work they do these horse can jump. they obviously made it to the olympics. and if they get a couple faults they dont get praised. they still did there best. sometime i wait for them to praise them and when the dont it makes me upset. like gosh these horse are amazing give them a break.
What makes you think they don't get praised? The majority of the praising happens in the backside out of the public eye.
This isn't the biggest level(in eventing as far as I know) this is only 3*, other competitions are 4*/5*.
Besides the rider is doing half the work, I know from experience XD
They get praise at the end with those pats, and I'm pretty sure they get a nice and tasty meal afterwards!
All the riders and horses are world class stars. They deserve to be congratulated for getting into Olympic competition finals.
the announcers voice could literally be a meditation video
he sounds so calm and this course is so cool
I love him.
1:10:40 Omg the Netherlands is riding in a Hackamore😍😍
38:42 too!
I loveee netherlands. Its my second country. Brazil and Netherlands have my heart. We are the same nation.
that one franch rider who rode with no whip and no spurs was amazing!
Yaffa Tilbor Spurs really aren’t a bad thing
Yep
@@thecouncil2056 sorry but I hate spurs
@@Theequestrianbookwormspurs are just an extension of the leg and when used correctly are completely orthodox
@@thecouncil2056 While I agree they aren't, it's still impressive that they are able to do it without spurs and a whip since it is harder at this level
Olympics here I come...
Once I’m old enough, still 10, still 10
Emma Ross practice hard and maybe you’ll get there one day youngest ever Olympic show jumper was 18, oldest was 58, so you’ve got a wide window
Good to have a dream and work towards it :)
im 11 lol i will probably go to the olympics at 2032
Same..still ever only done one small cross pole.. and still riding the same old pony(luv her doe)..
I don't know much about horse riding, but 12:37 looked brutal. I know trainers usually say that, if you need to use it, you gotta use more than a light tap, but that was simply whipping. You could hear the sound, it was so loud! Poor horse, made me cringe just watching it.
?😅
this is incredibly beautiful
(This is my opinion no one get offended)
I think Japan was a little harsh on the horse cause after his horse was "stubborn" for a second he pushed his horse to go so much faster which i get cause that waisted time but still. The guy litterly was trying to get him to go so much faster and instead of getting 1 penalty for being out of time he got 8 more for rushing his horse. Again this is my opinion so no one hate on me. And i am no expert on horses, if i made a mistake please correct me, thank you. :)
Joe Mamas it’s a fact
Hola Hola thanks lol
I agree!!
Absolutely shocking performance by that rider, wasn't pleasant at all to watch.
Alex Clarry I completely agree
16:49 that horses trot is so graceful!
beautiful❤
You could just tell that the first horse was struggling with all the tight turns.
I mean that’s the point but he looked massive. Huge jump but possibly could’ve used a slightly smaller horse🤷♀️
@@xxx-cl4vj did you reply on your own comment 😂
BRAD HUTCHINSON yea I don’t know why I didn’t just edit it😂😂😂
The rider was also a little harsh on the bit, u could see on some parts he was tugging on the reins.
Sienna Caçador yeah comparing the guy who went second his horse seemed so much happier and much more in tune with his calmer rider
i've played mario and sonic 2012 olympic games on my 3ds, of course I am a professional horse rider!
Love all the "trainers" in the comments trying to tell Olympic riders how to ride. Let me know when any of you little kiddies make it to the Olympics :)
Ikr, it proper pisses me off
@Megan Manthei What are we betting?
Georgia Stevens
No one asked. And if you’re, “10”, then you really shouldn’t play, ‘internet trainer’z
Okay, we will. And when we are there will you come and look at us?
Rens Bogers
You gotta make it to the Olympics first kiddo 😂
omfg! 38:24 and 1:10:10 The Netherlands and Brazil thooo! i loved that they used a hackamore XD
🇳🇱🙋🏼♀️
Hi Army!
That man from the Netherlands almost always rides in a hackamore
So glad my favourite country is the best, riding in a hackamore 😁
A hackamore can be just as damaging as a bit. The hackamore that you saw applies a lot of pressure on the nose since it has quite a long shank.
19:01 horse is thinking” oops jumped to soon”!!
Rider “HOLY 💩 “!!!
The Oliver Guillon round was just magnificent!
That first Belgium rider hat a veeeery aggressive “pat”
Flexible is by far one of my favorite horses to ever compete in the higher levels. Beautiful jumper and mover
i love how you can clearly see that agressive riding does not offer the chance for victory
that mare was a GIANT
so gorgeous
Idk what I just did but I downloaded this and played it backwards and u have to do it! It is hilarious
really liked watching Rich fellows great horse and rider and he look very concerned and happy the whole time even with a pole
anyone else just drooling over all the stunning horses.. not just me lmao
I love the look of this course so much
I like to watch Equestrian Jumping while working/coding.
This is the best thing to play on TV while working.
Luciana diniz OMG beautiful horse beautiful rider, after you can tell she has a real love for the horse and sport❤️
Jeeze I remember the tension- everyone was willing them to go clear and that was only in the first round!
Their posture is making me queasy... how is it so perfect... can I just have a little of that amazing balance?!
I wish I could jump that high....
My riding coach said that I should try and go to the Olympics😂
You should! Just keep training, you'll get there!
I love watching show jumping.
I love horses
i like food XD
and yes horses and cats and lots more...
@@FairyRuki i like those too!! especially horses and food.
1:32:06 Gorgeous horse! 😍
To all the people who dream that they would someday participate and win equestrian Olympics, dont let others tell you it's a dream "too big" and "it's something you can only dream of" or "it's out of your league, change your dream" or anything like that. I mean what about the other Olympics winners? They didnt give up right? Then why will you? Dreams can be big. They should be big! And I'm telling everyone, to the next generation. Dont EVER let's others thoughts on your dreams make you give up. You WILL accomplish your dream as long as you WORK for it.
And remember
"If your dreams dont scare you, they are too small."
Are we just not gonna talk about that horses tail at 27:53?? 😍😍
i was staring at it the whole time :D
i literally drool every time i watch any of cian o’conner’s rounds😌 especially on blue loyd
YEAH and oliver collin is amazing too
1:21:12 is my favorite
Incredibly beautiful
when I realise *if they took the top pole off these I could jump it* (my pony is 14hh)
MZM Equestrian same! But mines 14.1!
Would love to see someone using an Arabian fo jump I've jumped riding an Arabian they're amazing
Sam Brewer
Lauren Kieffer has an Anglo Arabian competing at the Olympic level in Eventing. Maybe check her out!
Who's watching in 2018?
2020 xd
1:03:00 1:10:14 1:15:26
The horse marcus ehning rode is so beautiful!
I love equitación
This was great to watch,BUT THEIR SOOOO HARD HANDED!!!!! Being hard HANDED can hurt the horse and keep it from doing the best it can, THAT'S WHY SOME OF THE HORSE MESSED UP!!! yes I am one one of those people that don't like bits, but even if your using a hackamore it can still hurt it if your hard hand!!!!!!!!! If your horse is foaming at the mouth, swishing its tail , ears are pinned, body language, and eyes can all be a sign that your horse is uncomfortable or in pain, I know when your horse is doing this in a show or competition you can't do much but I'm only stating my opinion as a competing equestrian and my years studying vet care! They all did good though!! Just saying
Not all of them were hard hand, sorry I forgot to mention that.
They should get better commentators
nanchombwa there voices are soothing.. but I agree they need to be more enthusiastic
Wow Ukraine is my favourite country ever but that rider was too hard on the horse 😬 they let me down
Yeah... really harsh on that sweet boy
It is up to the rider to direct the horse where to go. I would have hit the rider instead of the horse. No need to ever hit a horse.
Diane Rioux I totally agree with you
Unless the horse bucked or reared
🤦♀️ Someone doesn’t ride (or probably has never even been on a horse, much less of this caliber)
😂🤦♀️
I’m a barrel racer here to get videos for an edit 😂
Anxiety! Atthecoffeeshop OMG SAME
I have once you to hixded to compete in slumping and horse of the year
Fantastic😁
At 69:08 there are 4 clears
Hackamores!!!!!! Yesss!!!
@lealani presa bits are worst cause they cause inconvenience and pain even if used correctly
Evi Marioli oh gosh ur a raleighlink fan arent u! Bits arent bad if you use them properly
1:22:04 the way he even patted that horse in a German way 😂 all Germans know what I mean
I love that Brazil was riding in a hackamore
Me, casually watching random riders: oh yeah, they are pretty good! Oh ! What a nice jump! GOoD BoY!!
**a jump fall off** oh, it’s okay, don’t give up!
Me when the rider from my country come: COME ONNN!! YOU CAN DO THIS!!! JUMP JUMP JUMP!!! GOOOOODDDD BOOOOYYYY!! YAAAASSS!
**a jump fall off** OH COME ONN! IT TOTALLY RAN OUT BY ITSELF!!
Hahaha same :D
orse
I love the audience
Some of the bits they use on these horses just confuse me, like I understand needing to use a bit, but jeez some of the ones they used looked super intense
Lily Larsen
I had a brief chat with a rider at this level. She told me, while the bits look “big” most of them are actually synthetic options
@@meganproffitt424 oh that's actually really interesting, thanks for sharing. I was hoping there was some sort of logical explanation for the bits :)
It’s mostly about the material of the part that goes in their mouth that determines how synthetic and harsh it is ☺️
The commentators at my shows are more interesting than this guy and this is the Olympics!
So?
@@thecouncil2056 that's quite a stupid question, lol. it's the OLYMPICS, where is this commentators enthusiasm?
Pause at 20:43... Looks like a hunter! Lovely form!
Up to .
31:20
12:33 that's were I was annoyed.
(When he started smacking the horse)
ikr i was like jeez you dont have to whack it that hard its still a living being -_-
It's good there using hackamores. ☺
First round 6 clears
24:39
30:24
They make it look easy.
How high are these jumps?
My friend Talula is only 11 and she is riding a horse who can jump really high, and she has jumped 4’9 before
8:44 nie mógł się pozbierać
Do the riders use the same house for all 3 events, or do they have certain horses for each event?
There are three Olympic equestrian events: stadium jumping, dressage, and eventing. The event showed in this video is a stadium jumping competition, and the duos only participate in this specific competition.
The duos in the dressage competition also compete only in the dressage event.
Eventing, though, is a combined competition that includes phases of stadium jumping, dressing, and cross country jumping. In the eventing competition, then, yes, the riders use the same mount for all 3 events, as you said.
@@letticia13 no, this was the jumping phase of Eventing
Nope. All 3. That's why this sport exists ;)
@@eventerkeira, you are wrong. This was a stadium jumping competition; I can guarantee you. These are jumping riders, not eventing riders. I grew up with riders like Doda and Rodrigo Pessoa, jumping at the same equestrian center than them, and know a lot of these other riders as well. They would never be in an eventing competition; believe me.
Besides that, the jumping phase of Eveting is never this high or technically hard, since it would be very demanding for the horses to jump that level of course, plus the other two phases.
@@letticia13 sorry I thought I was on the final phase of Eventing XD 😅
Cadê os três tambores nas olimpíadas?...
The third competitor really pissed me off i know he is trying to discipline his horse but he doesn't have to hit the horse!
it's really sweet you are worried, but you clearly don't ride. I assure you the horse was pretty much unaffected. It was simply a reminder for him to lift his legs up. Horses are strong animals... He will be fine ;)
Ik it might seem bad but horses have thick hair fat and muscles to go trough before it really affects them, lets not forget horses are 500kg animals and the rider was simply making the horse understand he is going to have to do a bigger effort
heyyy its georgia i don't want to start a fight but i hate that you assume that i don't ride just because i care about other animals. I don't think it is clear enough because i do ride thank you very much!
sorry, Darling. I really didn't mean to offend you at all. You must just be a softer rider... and there is nothing wrong with that when dealing with the easier horses. I was like that for years before I started riding more difficult horses that need riders that are a little more assertive, or (like the rider in the video) may just need a bit of a reminder sometimes to put in a bit more effort. See, it wasn't actually about discipline in that case. You don't generally go to the Olympic games if your horse isn't well trained. That horse just needed a little boost to further engadge his hind legs so as to clear that huge jump ;)
heyyy its georgia you really need to stop assuming things, first apparently i don't ride, secondly i ride "easy" horses? I've never met you before and you already know everything about me..how amazing. You've never even seen me ride! I've always cared for animals of any type so i don't understand the problem with me caring about one horse.
Awe so glad they let that horse use a hackomore
1:33:00
COME ON IRELAND!
the horses jump butiful
33:02
One thing that really annoyed me is the fact the Irish riders half pad was too small for his saddle in my opinion 😂 You can barely see it so whether it had slipped (which it doesn’t look like it did) or was put on last minute I have no clue!
my horse is a bufero, best stallion ever!!
it seems to me that most riders give little rein to the horse, when they jump, they throw their head back, it looks sad, and riders who use the whip rudely do not deserve the Olympic Games((((
I hate it when they belt their horses with their crops.... it's is so terrible. and also some of them are really harsh on the bit and it looks really bad on the horse
12:36 why do you need to hit the horse 😑 uuuurggg
Faith Kirobi
Sharp turn, horse was losing momentum. Whips are mostly bark and very little bite. Know something. Thanks.
@@meganproffitt424 i hope it doesn't hurt them. I only ride schooling horses and only use whips when they're being a bit stubborn and lazy and uncooperative, but my instructor always tells me that it doesn't hurt them :/
Charlotte Morgan
If it hurt the horse, they wouldn’t be using it
@@meganproffitt424 yeah, that's what my instructor always says lol
@@meganproffitt424 Lol how ignorant. You realize horses are actually more sensitive to pain than humans? All these lies spread in the horse world only benefit the stupid selfish human and not the horse.

Lol who else is gonna show this to people that think horseback riding isn’t a sport?
UHMMMMM UKRAINE BEATING HIS HORSE OVER THE WATER JUMP????
30:30 JP
The rider from Switzerland was given 5 faults- he cleared the liverpool!I don't know what the fence judges were thinking
They get four (4) faults for every knock down, refusal, run out, circle, etc.
In each round they get one (1) fault for every four (4) seconds they are over the TA (time allowed).
In jump offs the jumping faults are the same, but instead they get one (1) fault for every second they are over.

y’a des français ici ?
The Japanese rider was quiet aggressive to his horse. Din’t like him
46:19 Эрик Ламаз?
Can somebody tell me how do they remember the way?
Elena M I think there's a number by each jump and they go from like 1 to 2 to 3 and so on
Tbh I think it's mostly practise. They have to do this with every course they ride and they've all be doing it for a really long time. It's also the Olympics so they will be extra careful not to mess up
I’m a schooling jumper, so it’s a much smaller scale than what you see here, but generally there are patterns that form. Roll backs, lines, and bending lines are all fairly common things so pairing up the patterns and then piecing it together makes it way easier.
