I'm pretty sure in microscope mode the blue piece is supposed to face down not up. On a real microscope the bottom part of the scope (closest to the specimen) extends to zoom. The part you look into doesn't extend because that would go straight into your eye.
Definitely a reïmagining of G1 Perceptor. Not perfect with the floppy arms and other flaws, but wow! Absolutely going on my wishlist. Probably the Takara version though.
Perceptor: Why can't I join you guys In battle? Autobots: well, you are not very mobile, and don't really have and we- Perceptor: *transforms into really cool tank* Autobots: uhhhhhhhh
I just got this guy at a toy show this past weekend, and I must have gotten a great copy, because I haven't had any of the balance issues, and while the arms don't peg/click into his alt/mode, which I agree was a mistake on Has/Tak's part, they are not loose at all! My only small issue is that his head is constantly slightly pointing to the right because of the peg on the back running into the scope mount. In regards to the scope, and the possibility of future breakage due to sliding it back and forth, just do what I did and spray the metal piece with some silicon spray lubricant (available at any hardware store). Mine now slides back and forth quite easily, while still holding position.
This looks like a genuinely good figure. As for the other microscope transformer, a movie Scalpel (I think that was the name, I don't care)... I had it and hated it, with a passion. It was a microscope, science related, big check for me, and the "robot" mode was eerie, with bug legs, almost like a praying mantis. I got it when I was around 10, and opened the package... all the legs came off. All of them. Luckily, my mom and I were in a car in front of the tore, so we just popped back in and returned it, and I got another of Scalpel since lightning doesn't strike twice, but oh it did. We gave up, wrote to Hasbro and nothing ever came of it. Fun.
Every review I have seen for this poor guy people have the scope backwards. Your eye looks into the black section, and the blue part goes towards the thing you want to see. Looking through it backwards like this will make things look tiny and blurry.
Can we get some detail about this Titan Masters in your videos? You did it for Blaster and I think PM Optimus. I'd like to see what they look like up close, since none of what you've shown since wave 2 have shown up at any stores near me. Also how about some dialog about the character bio and history, not just the toy. You are my favorite TF reviewer and the only one I think the only one I am subscribed to. Keep up the great work.
Hmm. Think I'll stick with my Reveal The Shield version. Doesn't seem right to me having every single character being a headmaster. I really don't think Perceptor should be one. Plus, I think the RTS figure has a more updated and appropriate appearance in both modes. I'm liking some Titans Return stuff ( Hardhead and Triggerhappy are great ) but some figures just don't need to be re-made just yet. Great review though.
*sigh* Despite talking about the microscope mode, you neglected to examine the most important aspect of all: Does the scope actually WORK? Can you look through it and see what's on the tray? Why the hell isn't that in the review?
The microscope dose have some magnification and you can neatly fit a titan master on the silver "tray" of the microscope like he is making a repair or examination.
Mine is tighter than a virgins honey pot. Seriously, I just picked up Perceptor, Topspin and Kup yesterday and except for Topspin my figures are very tight, compared to the average TR figure. I have seen other with the shoulder issue but my Perceptors are so snug they take effort to move as well as every other joint or swivel. Convex is really snug and I actually thought I would break it when I first removed him. I am almost reluctant to transform Perceptor much because I love this tightness, ahem.
Puzzledtraveller Is it true that Perceptor is a Walgreens exclusive? I live in Mass and Ive gotten Wolfwire and Krok there after some searching but I've been to about seven different Walgreens and countless Walmarts...no dice.
The treads are a pretty solid clue. They're visible in bot mode and the microscope mode doesn't use them. On top of that, as mentioned, it's got pegs and slots that also aren't used for either of those modes. Probably wouldn't take much exploration to work out.
Starscream, and later Shockwave should count as scientists, though that wasn't their primary function. On G.I. Joe, I can't think of anyone that would qualify.
I have a conspiracy what if this was originally going to be a leader class figure but because of cost Hasbro made it a deluxe class figure and left out the tank mode
LISTEN!! Your supposed to be one of the top transformers reviewers on UA-cam, FOR THE LOVE OF PRIMUS, stop adding an S to all these names: its titans return, NOT returns, its power of the primes, NOT powers, whats next wfc siege's. I know it seems a small nit pick but IT DRIVES US NUTS!!!! You sound like my wife trying to talk transformers to sound cool.

And everyone has broken a slide by zooming in too much.
Professionally Re
ur wrong
Sammy Quinonez no your wrong
The tank mode is an homage to the G1 toy that had a Micromaster tank mode & pilot in the original takara design

very creative, hasbro
First time I've seen the tank mode, very cool!

I bet if this figure was voyager or leader class hasbro would gave us proper instructions for tank mode
Yah. Things like this seems simple at times but to others they seem niave to me.
Maybe TakaraTomy knows.
that was the secret mode I the g1 toy
perceptors "tank" mode reminds me of porygon2
Chance ewing ironplos Interesting comparison. What exactly made you come to that conclusion?
Mostly its shape and similare colour pattern
Chance ewing ironplos agreed
Huh; now that you say that, it kinda does.
Scolopendra Subspinipes yeah
A deluxe triple changer ,huh!

Hipojak i pointed that out too. Not too many are knowledgeable about microscopes.

I'd like to start seeing pin, screw, rivet, paint app and part counts. I reviewed most of Animated Deluxes that way and it was interesting!
YES HE IS A GOOD ROBOT & MICROSCOPE I LIKE HIM 10 OUT OF 10 FOR ME 👍👍 😎😎 ❤️
front of chest can mainly the silver part should be able to fold up. Lets hope there is a 3rd party version of Perceptor
Awesome review and a great figure!!! I can't wait to find it...
I'm tickled they included tooling for the tank. that really is the cherry on top.
Soon to be voiced by Wil Wheaton! Possibly the best-suited role of his life IMHO.
You have the microscope end backwards. The extending portion is supposed to be facing forward.
Just picked this up and 3 others love it.
I'll get rid of the Reveal the shield version for this.
If you put a little bit of grease onto that metal pin, it should probably help out a lot.
how long until we get Percy's Decepticon "mould brother" Magnificus?
a few months I think if comfirmed
Gallifreyan Autobot the Warrior it is spelled mold
73Millerd Nah fam. That's just how some people spell it.
Leni Hates Everything no, mouldy is the stuff that grows on expired food sometimes, mood is shaping
@@ailma0400 yes in Europe perhaps....like colour or flavour or theatre
because it's a deluxe they can only have on mode that's why the solar cannon did'nt make it unless they had a vouagye
Huzzah someone finally discovered his secret tank mode =3
three have been released: Perceptor times 2 and Scalpel
@4:40 Your scope is backwards. The extending bit should be pointing down.
were did you get him I want one just like him
Good video keep up the good work
i feel this character totally works as a headmaster due to his buddy being able to work on the corpses and he basically is a mobile base
Balt, where is your old intro? I miss it so bad(
the microscopic mode did shoot a deceptecon in g1
Do you want your sub from Subway?
Hey baltmatrix, can you do a Chogokin Hello Kitty review after you ordered this online?
Hmm. Think I'll stick with my Reveal The Shield version. Doesn't seem right to me having every single character being a headmaster. I really don't think Perceptor should be one. God this figure got blown out of the water by the studio series figure
Take a shot everytime Balt says "Titans Returns" instead of "Titans Return". Watch 5 TR reviews and see how you feel after all of them.
Hi Balt, I have a question
My preceptors head is stuck in. Any suggestions on how to fix this problem
Thank you for your help in advance
good video
Look's like I can finally replace my reveal the shield figure
How tall is this figure ?
He also has s battle mode
Where did he find the tank mode instructions
I'd put a little bit of lubricant on the sliding pin if it feels too tight
I want this figure so badly!!!
Can he do the preceptor kick
I cannot find T.T.R. Perceptor anywhere on any site! :'(
How'd you manage to!?
*sigh* Despite talking about the microscope mode, you neglected to examine the most important aspect of all: Does the scope actually WORK? Can you look through it and see what's on the tray? Why the hell isn't that in the review?
Glitcher2000 right?its not on the review OR comments. I’m not expecting a Hubble, just some magnification, or what’s the point?
The microscope dose have some magnification and you can neatly fit a titan master on the silver "tray" of the microscope like he is making a repair or examination.
A, it does, and B, Who gives a shit, your buying a transformer not a real microscope
Not only does it magnify roughly 2x, if I recall correctly its lenses are identical to the ones in the original Perceptor toy.
I AGREE WITH YOU ON THAT HE IS COOL 😎😎
I should've gotten one. Also the scope part is backwards.
This should have been a leader class figure with a base mode.
You do realise loose joints are NOT a problem for 99% of us.
Oh, I found Decepticon Quake there too.
The first one is good. The second is scalpel.
How did people figure out he had a tank mode if it isn't in the instructions?
Osto 19 Fanmoding and the fact that Hasbro released CG promo pics of the figure in his tank mode.
The treads are a pretty solid clue. They're visible in bot mode and the microscope mode doesn't use them. On top of that, as mentioned, it's got pegs and slots that also aren't used for either of those modes. Probably wouldn't take much exploration to work out.
I always mess around when I get a new Transformer and find most of these figures are "more than meets the eye".
So who's better:
Perceptor or Kup?
Cuz Idk which one to buy
The wallet's tight...
your choice
carter johnson doesn`t help, i can't choose, hence why i am asking
i would get Perceptor
Perceptor would be my choice. Kup is good, but something just seems a bit off about him.
Kup seems better designed objectively speaking.
did you know perceptor has a gerwalk
I need this!
Cobra and the Autobots each had a scientist. Neither G.I.Joe nor the Decepticons had one.
Starscream, and later Shockwave should count as scientists, though that wasn't their primary function. On G.I. Joe, I can't think of anyone that would qualify.
While I don't think TR Kup will replace Generations Kup on my Wreckers shelf, TR Perceptor will probably replace 2010 Perceptor on it.
Toys'R'us has let me down ONCE AGAIN!
Am I the only one that wants to see this repainted into Shockwave?
how much is this
Mercury 11 Around $14 and $16.
Toys R Us in Mass upped all their prices for TR Transformers Deluxes up to almost $20!
Fuckers.
The microscope mode is super powerful he one shoot devestator.
Deluxe SoundWave Fodder for a mod.
I have a conspiracy what if this was originally going to be a leader class figure but because of cost Hasbro made it a deluxe class figure and left out the tank mode
my Perceptor came with 2 left hands instead of a left and a right
Why preceptor
8:47 Heh, "doctor" him up.
perceptor can one shot devistator in microscope mode
it's not that tight when you already fiddle with it
rotf doc bot was the bad microscope
Should have made him bigger...
I love the look of Perceptor in his robot and tank modes, but his transformations and microscope mode are very poorly designed.
Planet X Perceptor looks better
Bcuz based on foc
