If I remember correctly, that is a dead end anyway. It's possible to use the footbridge and walk the remaining few hundred meters. So why cross the Krossa in an unsuitable vehicle?
Heym what rivers can I cross with a Jeep Renegade (4x4)? It's my first time doing F-roads with river crossing (last trip did only regulars, and no river Fs). I'll be in Iceland again by May. Can I do F88 + F910? Thanks!
F88 might be possible but it has one pretty deep crossing, the Lindaá river. When I crossed it was about 60-70 cm deep but not a lot of current. If your air intake is high enough it should be doable, but going around and taking the F910 from the north is easier. ua-cam.com/video/ZInrbtkQBZo/v-deo.html was my trip taking the F88. As for F910 going south, I would absolutely not recommend it. By far the worst road I drove, not because of river crossings but because of rough roads with a lot of rocks. If my vehicle wasn't lifted I would have probably hit a few rocks and ruined my undercarriage. Also, most of the F-roads will be closed in May. Not just unserviced, but prohibited to drive.
I will never understand why people try to get through that river between Basar and Langidalur. Dead end. Foot bridge available for the worst part. Big 4x4 buses that can drive this easily constantly going. Why risk it, for what.
Oh my god, watching this video legit gave me anxiety. My car got stuck as well in Þórsmörk and It was scary scary. The rangers were able to pull the car out. and were so helpful and did not take a single penny from me. I was very surprised. however I was slammed with $3000 from the rental company for the damage due to this. I had the Toyota Highlander. I have learned my lession, so freaking scary.
You were luckier than some others. I actually was a witness to a very similar case as a kid a few years back, though much worse. There were some tourists who were on the other side of Krossá and were told to wait for a ranger to help them over, but instead of waiting they decided to just try it by themselves. I watched as the car got stuck and then started to tilt, the people fleeing to the roof with what they could carry while the ranger they were supposed to wait for came to rescue them. After they'd been gotten safely to dry land we all watched as the car fell to the side, completely flipped and went under, and then was carried down the river. Don't even know how far it got, but it was further enough downstream for us to lose sight of it. That car was a rental too, and it was completely toast rather than just damaged. Can't imagine the costs
The F-road to Þórsmörk is actually the one road that is forbidden for rental vehicles to go on. I'm surprised the rental company didn't just charge you for the entire vehicle. $3K is low compared to the other stories I've heard.
This is not a Mercedes, this is even worse, this is a Korean SSang yong kyron! There, apparently, is an engine hydraulic shock, this is when water enters the engine cylinders, and then compression occurs, but water is not compressible!
Don´t do it, there have been resent problems with cars like dasia that gets stuck in smaller rivers near this one where the engine suck water. This one is far too deep to be safe for Dacia

It depends. coming weekend there is a lot of water in the rivers due to heavy rain in the last few days. there is a warning sign not to cross with litle cars. In dry weather the river can be ok, but also can be very dangerus. never cross unless you are sure every thing is ok for you and your car.
@@icelandhighlands I’m gonna be there in September. For sure I’ll check first by entering the river myself, and only drive in if I’m sure all is good. As I understand it we can also leave the car before the biggest crossing and hike our way to the Basar Hut, am I right?
@@icelandhighlands That is what the rangers also told us. Krossá even remains a risky business for full-sized jeeps, still then some idiots keep on thinking that this can be done with a suzuki or worse, with anything with 4x4 on it's back. I point a finger at the rentals. But you're an Icelander, it's always the same three kinds of nationalities that are "smarter" than the locals, I'm sure you'll know.
That LC100 with big fat tires is the reason why I came here
Was pleasantly surprised by the music selection! My cousin is the singer's girlfriend (and they just recently had a baby).
How cool is that🙂 love the song and congrats on your cousin's baby (hope i spelled it right🙂)
What a Badass LC100!
What a magnificent mullet the tractor driver was sporting.
What’s the fascination with this river crossing?
To see who can get stuck the worst?

I think the problem was at the wheel. The pickup should actually manage that. . .

those big American bakkies can be nice but they're just not on the same level as that Defenders and definitely not the cruiser
ókei vá það var lítið í krossá þegar ég fór á síðasta ári
Nice recovery
with a serie car never it will cross through that river they need to change tires and add a snorkel
- Hi!I want to rent a car.
- Here is your Hyiundai, sir.
- Is it ok for Iceland
- Sure! It's ready for F-roads. Just sign here.
either raise a bridge or raise the IQ of anyone likely to drive in that area.
If you’re over 9 years old, and don’t know enough to drive an $85,000 vehicle ito a river, pay up.

@@mienfobelets4820 quite wright, this river can be dangerus some times, even last week a bus full of people that had too be rescued by the rangers.
@mienfobelets4820 I am very interested in what 3 nationalities that might be.
If you not have enough experience....
