Fuel Filter Test of WCF104 / z699 - Which Aftermarket Filter Will You Choose?

- Hi Guys, today we thought we'd try somthing a little different, out of curiosity and also to answer our friends and customers questions. We test fuel filter z699, also known as filter wcf104.
These filters are fitting in most early model 4WD common rail diesel models.
Here is some information on what microns are, and how they are filtered through the fuel filter.

Hello. The hole you add the fuel in is for sensor and it’s an exit for water. I would like to remind you that this filter functions like a fuel water separator, so there has to be a way out for water separated from the fuel. You should add fuel into the hole on another side. The way you add fuel might prove that the filtration media of the third one is reversed. Just would like to share this with you.

In our test of filter Z699 / WCF104 , this specific type of diesel fuel filter is designed for use with the Denso (Toyota) pumps in which the inlet of the filter is at the center hole.
Water will precipitate to the bottom (where the water sensor is connected to) and the fuel will be filtered vertically upward through the media paper and gets filtered out through the small holes surrounding the center hole, regardless of which side fuel is poured inside.
As for other type of fuel filter (eg. r2777p) which is a new diesal fuel filter used in Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger new models. For this type of filter, the filtration media is rolled around the center tube like toilet paper roll.
Unlike most common oil filters where oil gets filtered through the media sideways, the filtration configuration of this fuel filter is vertical, meaning fuel runs through the media vertically when filtration takes place (doesn’t matter upward or downward).
In our test, we specifically tested the filtration efficiency of the filter, not the water sensor system. So water content emulsified in the fuel is entirely not in context. It does not really matter if the raw fuel runs upward or downward through the media.
For testing purposes, we flipped the filter up and blocked the center hole to make it a one-way and closed system. Contaminated fuel is fed though the bottom of the filter, and the filtered fuel runs through the filtration system and out the small holes surround the blocked center hole.

Way too much conflicting information out there. I read sakura are the best, ive read ryko are the best, are you getting paid to do this review by sunwa, if so then how do we know this is not set up to make it look like sunwa are the best. I just dont trust anything anymore sigh
Deffinatly not being paid.. my local spare parts has been selling sunwa for years, and i have also been using them for many years with no complains, hence the reason for this video, as my customers have never heard of the brand before.
