- The ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE is one of my favorite pieces of tech. It is still the best portable gaming monitor to pair with a PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, or Xbox Series console and remains the king of portable monitors.

Keep up the great work man. Underrated content and absolutely god editing.
I appreciate that, thank you!
For anyone interested, there is a height lock on the tripod. This eliminates the sliding mentioned in the video.
The height lock is what I was referring to. It doesn’t support the weight of the monitor, at least on my unit.
Nice video! You mentioned about stand/tripod alternatives, but ended up no talking about it. Could you post some information about what you tried?
Mine just stopped working out of no where, side buttons don't work, nothing works, hopefully you don't get that
Wow, that's really disappointing. I haven't had any issues yet, is yours out of warranty?
I think this could be great for a steam deck
1:16 So where are the alternative stands that we can use that you'll cover later in the video?
Great video! Exactly what I was looking for!
I just got mine yesterday and it doesn’t work. It endlessly flashes the ROG logo every few seconds.
Great review, Thx! You saved me $100 of the flimsy tripod! Good job!
I think your stand may be defective. I've had my XG17AHP for over a year and it has no issues holding the monitor at its max height.
Its like trying to get blood out of a stone to find out the actual freesync range of this monitor.. Amazing. Asus probably hides it intentionally as it doesn't go low enough for those of use who NEED it to go low for certain retro gaming. I have spent the last hour just lookin for this info to no avail. The good news is, if you have any amd graphics card and use this monitor, the Radeon center thingy will tell you the minimum and maximum freesync range of the screen.. Pretty please?
Hi Devyn, is it possible to use the USB-C cable for charging & video signal WITH a Portable-ITX Gaming PC.
Could you use a USB-C to DISPLAYPORT cable?
Please I have one question before I buy it…
Can you connect the switch directly to the monitor without using the dock? I’ve seen other portable monitors that work just by using the usbc cable but I haven’t seen this exact model… will it work using the switch without the dock?
can you keep it powered by cable and play like 10 hours in a row?
Great video! I had two questions-
1. Is it possible to buy the Asus stand separately and how much does it cost?
2. Are there any good alternative stands that you'd recommend which can work same as the stand sold by Asus.
Thanks!
Why you dont talk about the most important thing and is the displayport to usb C there is a big problem out there and none one talk about it (i spend around 100 dollars on cable and still cant get it to work through my rtx 4090 so i think this is a waste of money and time
nice video, quick question: will this monitor have wake up issue? There were some comments on Amazon talk about they have to constant push power button to weak up this monitor cause they can’t use mouse or keyboard to weak it up.
May i know what stand is it ? any brand name? Thanks
The stand I showed later in the video was an Elgato Master Mount + Elgato Heavy Base.
Is there a way to hook up a nintendo switch plus gamecube controllers?
If the battery dies you can't power the thing even when it's plugged in. Seems like a bad design. Waiting for the Viewsonic.
Is this good for rog ally?
Thanks. But does it work with a macbook pro
heya, qq for you, is there the option with this monitor to connect it to the computer via USB-C cable ONLY? I mean, I am quite interested to understand if the USB-C will be charging the battery while the video signal flows through the same cable; in contrast if I can´t use ONLY one USB-C cable to do both things it would be a caveat to me. THIS IS KEY FOR ME TO BUY THIS MONITOR; thank you in advance, great videos, you have a new suscriber!!!!!
yes you can but it'd have to be usb-c to usb-c aka your GPU would have to support usb-c alt. mode
nice video! thanks. One question... would you buy monitor for 440 euro or monitor+stand for 600 euro?
Personally, I would go for the monitor only and buy a stand separately.
It is great for ps5?bcause it still 1080p
WhTs the stand
Elgato Master Mount + Elgato Heavy Base.
Can you post the link for the legato mount?
Elgato Master Mount + Elgato Heavy Base.
Would you consider selling me your XG17 tripod?
It sucks. Most gaming laptops have better monitors that dont need to be charged separately. No HDR, no gsync over hdmi, no HDMI2.1, no normal displayport, only usb-c DP which wont work with many gaming laptops, just not worth the money.
your video has a lot of frame skipping...
Thanks, I fixed the issue in future videos
You made a mistake, it’s 360usd, not 500.
nope it's 500 usd new
