  • The ASUS ROG Strix XG17AHPE is one of my favorite pieces of tech. It is still the best portable gaming monitor to pair with a PC, PlayStation 5, Switch, or Xbox Series console and remains the king of portable monitors.

For anyone interested, there is a height lock on the tripod. This eliminates the sliding mentioned in the video.

The height lock is what I was referring to. It doesn’t support the weight of the monitor, at least on my unit.

Nice video! You mentioned about stand/tripod alternatives, but ended up no talking about it. Could you post some information about what you tried?

I think your stand may be defective. I've had my XG17AHP for over a year and it has no issues holding the monitor at its max height.

Its like trying to get blood out of a stone to find out the actual freesync range of this monitor.. Amazing. Asus probably hides it intentionally as it doesn't go low enough for those of use who NEED it to go low for certain retro gaming. I have spent the last hour just lookin for this info to no avail. The good news is, if you have any amd graphics card and use this monitor, the Radeon center thingy will tell you the minimum and maximum freesync range of the screen.. Pretty please?

Hi Devyn, is it possible to use the USB-C cable for charging & video signal WITH a Portable-ITX Gaming PC.
Could you use a USB-C to DISPLAYPORT cable?

Please I have one question before I buy it…
Can you connect the switch directly to the monitor without using the dock? I’ve seen other portable monitors that work just by using the usbc cable but I haven’t seen this exact model… will it work using the switch without the dock?

Great video! I had two questions-
    1. Is it possible to buy the Asus stand separately and how much does it cost?
    2. Are there any good alternative stands that you'd recommend which can work same as the stand sold by Asus.
    Thanks!

Why you dont talk about the most important thing and is the displayport to usb C there is a big problem out there and none one talk about it (i spend around 100 dollars on cable and still cant get it to work through my rtx 4090 so i think this is a waste of money and time

nice video, quick question: will this monitor have wake up issue? There were some comments on Amazon talk about they have to constant push power button to weak up this monitor cause they can’t use mouse or keyboard to weak it up.

If the battery dies you can't power the thing even when it's plugged in. Seems like a bad design. Waiting for the Viewsonic.

heya, qq for you, is there the option with this monitor to connect it to the computer via USB-C cable ONLY? I mean, I am quite interested to understand if the USB-C will be charging the battery while the video signal flows through the same cable; in contrast if I can´t use ONLY one USB-C cable to do both things it would be a caveat to me. THIS IS KEY FOR ME TO BUY THIS MONITOR; thank you in advance, great videos, you have a new suscriber!!!!!

    • @BurgeTV
      @BurgeTV Рік тому +1

yes you can but it'd have to be usb-c to usb-c aka your GPU would have to support usb-c alt. mode

    • @devyn.johnston

It sucks. Most gaming laptops have better monitors that dont need to be charged separately. No HDR, no gsync over hdmi, no HDMI2.1, no normal displayport, only usb-c DP which wont work with many gaming laptops, just not worth the money.
