Thanks for the review, wonder for the people that have an S5 Max, if they buy a side brush from amazon for the S6 version, they can easily fix the edge negative for 10 bucks? Just wondering.
Unfortunately, no. The problem is that the robot doesn't get sufficiently close to the edge. It's a pathing issue that can't be fixed replacing the side brush.

Update from a year or so, I robot added the ability to partition and divide the floor on the map using the app. For instance, you can divide and name different bedrooms and bathrooms. Or kitchen, dining room, hallway, powder room, and living area. Then using the app or by voice command (alexa, google assistant) you can request cleaning specific rooms or all.
Hopefully you'll get to test the roborock S7. Great review as always. What robot would you pick between S5 Max or Ecovacs T8/950? Everything considered, especially navigation and app. Thank you
I didn't test the T8, but I did test the T8 AIVI. And the S5 Max definitely navigates better than the T8 AIVI according to my testing. The app experience is about equal. I didn't have any issues with either the Ecovacs or Roborock app. The S5 Max mops better but the T8 AIVI I tested cleaned edges better. Otherwise, performance is very similar. If you're limited to picking between these models, which robot you go with really just depends on what's most important to you - navigation and mopping is better with the S5 Max and edge cleaning should be better with the T8. I wouldn't personally recommend either the S5 Max or the T8.
