When Robert Yates first announced that Jarrett would be taking over the 28 car, I initially didn't agree with it because I didn't think he was capable of harnessing all the power that car had BUT 1996 came & the era of Dale Jarrett running up front damn near every Sunday began...
Dale was very good in the 28 car in 1995, however he had some awful luck while running up front. Both Darlington races he got wrecked having nothing to do with the initial crashes, same thing with Dover, and also ran on seven cylinders for most of the season finale while in contention for a top 10 spot in the points.
And the beginning of the end of the Ernie Irvan era for Robert Yates Racing. When he returned to racing in '96 Irvan was in almost as many crashes as finishes.
Was Hobbs around to pick Earnhardt in 98 & how in the hell did Ken Squier pick Terry Labonte I mean what in THE HELL had Labonte done to that point to give any indication that he had a shot at winning Daytona. As it was, neither he nor Bobby ever won a single pts paying race at Daytona... No one picked Marlin after his command performance in his Qualifying race...
@@BANGITSME87 Are you serious? He wasn't the best but I can think of many worse. Chris Economaki, Dick Berggren, Bill Weber, Rick Allen...just to name a few.
5:29 it sounded like he wanted to say "we need to start this fo, car on the pole here Sunday." Like he wanted to say Ford and changed it to car. But that is just playing devil's advocate, it sounds like he said "fu'kin car" for sure! Lol
The Morgan McClure team had exclusive rights to the system in '95, that was the deal that Larry McClure negotiated with the company Dr. Gas. And was an absolutely legal exhaust system, competition director Gary Nelson was extremely impressed with it.
The 28 is one of those cars that ran damn good with a lot of drivers!
That song at the opening is fire, should have won a grammy haha
I couldn't make it all the way out. "I can still hear the thunder of the stock car race, --------'s brother --------, first place."

Anybody else notice Bill's roof number the opposite way on the thumbnail?

Vine Wood Lol, Love Ken but his line that annoyed me was, 'one of the best', he would say that about anyone.
Because Ken Squire is terrible, and one of the most overrated people in the sport.
Let me guess. You've picked every Daytona 500 winner correctly right? LOL.

Is it just me I heard Marlin's car have X pipe sounds?
Not just you. That car was more illegal than a mob guys occupation
Yep. The 4 team were one of the first to pioneer the X pipe exhaust on superspeedways. By 2001, virtually everyone had followed suit.
