Hi Dirty , you have absolutely saved my life. I have been dealing with this topic( + anti diabetics , which i also watched ) for the longest time but right now , i feel confident to answer any question in these sections . I have step 1 in 2 weeks and i promise to give back to this community when i start earning . You are the absolute best . Thank you from the bottom of my heart
To remember the ↓ LDL exceptions, Fibrates and Niacin, I added this little mnemonic: fibra↓Tes (↓ TG) and "Nancy is extra Hot!" (Niacin - ↑ HDL - flushing) For remembering the majority decrease LDL, I remember "All the fatties drop it LOW LOW" (Lipidemia drugs ↓ LDL lol)
My exam is in 2 months and your videos are so essential during this period. You just simplify everything, especially pharma which is so hard to memorize. I watched your video on HIV drugs and I answered the UW questions like it was nothing. Now I guess the lipid lowering agents will be a piece of cake as well. Thank you so much!
exam in 10 days, coming in clutch with this topic cause first aid had a lot going on with those visuals (same with sketchypharm), but you made this v easy to follow👍
Hi!!! Greetings from Brazil! I love your videos! They are incredibly objective and accurate! I just wanted to say thank you so so much and please keep it up! Also, just a small correction: estatins are actually competitive inhibitors and not alosteric inhibitors: they bind to the active site of the enzime HMG-CoA-redutase, taking the place of the substrate HMG-CoA, as opposed to binding to the allosteric site and inducing a conformational chance of the enzime that makes the binding of the substrate to the active site impossible.
Thank you for the video! one thing to clarify...don't fibrates also increase HDL? via PPAR-a? the take-home points at the end only point out that niacin increases HDL, and that fibrates just reduce trigs
Thank you for your incredible generosity in the work you do! You are making the world a better place in a big way! Have you ever considered a life time membership option? I would love to support your work and my ongoing education for life. Dr. Been has the option of one time payment for unlimited access and I love the idea! ✌️ Liz Dean
hey just a question because you had said the Fibrates second pathway via PPAR a increases the HDL: which would mean that HDL would be increased for both Niacin and Fibrates how come you only put a decreased quantity of triglyceride in fibrates?
HM*G (good for) *CO A (coronary artery)
this is literally the most brilliant little trick ever my jaw is on the floor hahha
Genius. Will never forget this

running out of things to comment in your videos but they really are helpful
In portuguese they translated "Bile acid resins" to "Bile acid kidnappers" which is just 1000% better
It can be named as “bile acids sequestrant” in Europe!
