When engineered, this thing feels like an absolute monster to me. Turns well, shields are solid, and it is absolutely wicked fast. Running a pair of medium rapid fire pulses and three overcharged large multicannons in mine. Absolutely love it.
I agree. I've engineered mine heavily, with 2 beams instead of the pulses. With a Dangerous npc pilot in a fighter with 2 fixed beams it becomes absolutely deadly in hazress
Love my mk2. I got mine outfitted with efficient 3 large pa's and 2 beems (with cool down effect) I have lots of fun in the haz res. Great turning radius/ manuverability. Power a d distro hold up pretty good with not having to bounce pips much. I can stand toe with most ships tanking with my bi weave as well. Over all I like it better than my conda....which I love and was my first engineered ship
Can you believe that some people are claiming that this ship is too cheap?! A few account wipes needed for those folks me thinks, they obviously have far too many credits than is wise.
TOO CHEAP???? WTF????? 200 million plus for A rated and good armour.... I mean I have Credits to burn, but I actually thought the Krait was a bit expensive!
Yeah, it's nuts. I haven't got mine A rated yet, and I blew through tens of millions with just a basic set-up. The credit exploiters might be sitting on billions, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are, and frankly I think those particular folks should have their 'earnings' scrutinised at some point, you know, for balance purposes.
I like the fact that you emphasized about the Python that it's your personal opinion, and that it shouldn't be misunderstood that the Python is bad. A lot of reviewers (about any game, not specifically Elite) often confuse objective reviews with personal opinions. They say "I don't like it and thus it's bad". So a thumbs up there.
Still love the Krait MK2, Got me my Guardian booster, and grade 5 engineered FSD and am almost to Colonia. Gotta say, thats a killer HUD color you have.
IMO it's the best multipurpose medium sized ship in the game. Much more maneuverable than the Python for combat but lacks that extra cargo space. The Python's just a small Anaconda, while the Krait mk2 is a mini Corvette. Just get a Corvette, they're lovely, and once you've got one you know you've arrived.
Yeah, it's one of their weaknesses, and honestly sometimes I feel that they are far too focused on PvP balance, to the detriment of every other feature in the game. Sandro doesn't help matters by coming out with statements which make it seem as if PvP should be everyone's main focus, just because he likes it. They're losing themselves to the multi-player sickness, forgetting where they came from, and what made the original games such classics!
Krait is by accident probably best anti-xeno ship right now . Chieftain and challenger got issue with 3 small useless slots in xeno combat . And Krait got it all right , awesome firepower , enough armor and shields to fight cyclops and basilisk , enough speed and maneuverability . Very good power plant , awesome power distributor and is super cheap to repair/rebuy . Python is good to but Krait is stronger , mostly thanks to speed and that power distributor allowing to fly 4/1/1 setup all day long
God I just love the Krait MK2. The underslung cockpit really sold it for me. I just got back from my first exploration run too!. Even though I did no engineering, just stripping it down as much as I knew how, i got it to 30LY jump range. I was gonna head out to Eta Carinae but I got bored a fraction of a way there, turned around and headed back. There and back netted me about 7 million credits, and my name on well over 60 new planets, some I even detail scanned!. Im for sure gonna put some time engineering and tweaking to get the stats just right and go out for full run!
I hear what you're saying about the Python. I love that ship because it's a swiss army knife you can configure a million ways, but it is a bit... like a space tub? It's definitely not a Vulture.
Dont get me wrong. I love picking on the Python, but really, it is probably the most useful ship in game. It does a bit of everything. But thats the exact reason why I personally dont like it.. It has no personality... Its the ford transit of the Elite universe. But I do get why commanders love it so much.. I just love to stir them up about it ;)
The python has no soul? Its THE most charismatic ship in the game imo ( and i get were just talkin opinions, there is no right or wrong :) ) Its the jack of all trades, old veteran thats been there done that. That's how I see it anyway. Maybe not the toughest, strongest or fastest ship you have on the team but it does the job and it knows what its doing, ( i know, im talking like theyre people , just how I see it) The python to me...if your ship stable was like a merc crew or something, would be the sergeant. The guy thats not in charge but that everyone still kinda looks to because chances are. hes done it before. Does that even make sense? lmao.
LOL... I get ya, and yes, there is no right or wrong... If the Python puts a smile on your face, then that is the right ship 100% My friend loves the python, and I do get why.. Its funny how certain things click with people, and then dont with others...
Maybe his relyability is the Sergeant's biggest problem. You know he gets the job done in his common straight forward way, with his never changing Class A Pattern but always working plan. The truth is people like to see the coffee junkie hacker with his silenced sidearm SMG and Plan B C4 doing it his way, because it's tempting to do it special :)
Antifaith29 I agree with him. The Python had that same soulless feeling for me. Like, it was good, but there was nothing special about it. It had no unique characteristics and it made me feel like I was flying one of those hyper-standard not-meant-to-be-the-focus ships that fly around in the background in sci-fi space movies while the main character's ship is in the foreground.
IMO the Python is the single most versatile ship in the game right now. Buy one, engineer it to oblivion, and you have a ship that can do pretty much everything ED has to offer. Trading, passengers, mining, fighting, exploration, etc. Of course it doesn't do things as well as dedicated vessels, like trading with a Type-9 or exploring with an AspX, but if you need a vessel you can call home for a long time, the Python is the best. As much as I could gather, the Krait seems to be geared towards fighting a lot more with the addition of the hangar, but the shield capacity and modules might tell a different story. The Krait might be an early-bird for the new mining update in the works, with the ship-launched mining rigs. I could see this ship as a good dedicated mining vessel in the future.
Playbahnosh Both the Anaconda and Type-10 are more versatile than the Python. Their only downside is that they lack the ability to land at orbital outposts, and even then that isn't really a mark against them. The ability to land on medium pads isn't as important as it used to be now that planetary outposts are a thing, as they always have at least one large pad. In comparison, the Python is inferior in every way to the Annie and T10 except for the edge it may gain in rare trading because of its medium size. Unfortunately, rare trading is...well, rarely done anymore. The Python isn't in a good spot.
Mine's named "Money Talks", because I name all my ships after songs (though I may switch the name back to "Money Made", because that's what it's good at doing).
Hey Vindicator Jones, you're my favorite Elite channel on UA-cam. Very thorough and detailed analysis. One thing you mentioned is you took the aegis fighter by mistake, what would be your preferred fighter setup? Just curious, I realize it's not game breaking but I like your analysis. Thanks!
Thanks so much! Right now I really like the GU-97 either with gimballed pulse or beams. I feel the NPC's do better with gimballed. But sometimes I will load one with fixed weapons if I feel like taking one out for a spin.
I just love how the cockpit of the Krait looks, you can see the medium hardpoints from the inside and the cockpit itself reminds me little bit of Snowspeeder from Empire Strikes Back and the Constellation from Star Citizen although that ship is much larger than Krait
Chaydex visually I think it's the best looking ship in the game because of that star wars feel, I like the way the wings jut out in front like the falcon.
I love my well engineered Krait MKII more than my actual Anaconda. Its build up to a heavy A/engineered weaponed (2 StreamLasers(1turret)/2 large multicannons/ Rocketlauncher) thruster boosted shark of a combat vessel. The Krait is great then. just a lack of Jump Reach made me a litle bit sorry about the ASP Explorer I used before and sold to get the Krait. As I said, everything is minimum lvl 3 engineered here.
I wouldn’t worry about it if you have a sidewinder with turreted beam lasers they’ll turn right around and shoot through your own ship if your target is behind you
Great job ... yes, once you engineer the drives it will make a huge difference. I have a fully engineered Python so I just swapped all of the modules into my K MK II and it was night and day. Keep up the good work
It has one thing that a lot of other ships do not get and that is a very unique cockpit that havine a unique view I mean look at the angle of its cockpit profile you should never need autodocking module. This probably is the best parking view.
Currently using 2 fixed medium G5 overcharged MC with corrosive and auto loader. Center large hp is G5 efficient plasma accelerator. Other 2 larges are fixed frag cannons with rapid fire and screening shell. You can also run a G3 overcharged 5A power plant with this and be good on power
Shisui Uchiha I haven't done PVP with it yet, but it's fun to say the least. You run out of ammo fast though. Runs 6c biweave with thermal resist and the quick charge experimental 7a power distr. With charge enhanced and the experimental for more quick charging. 5a fsd with increased range and mass manager. 5a grade 3 overcharged power plant with the heat efficiency experimental. Dirty drive engines with drag. 4 resistant shield boosters. 5a fuel scoop 6c fighter bay All other slots are currently heavy duty hrp except the size 3 slot, which is a module reinforcement and the size 2 is an fsd interdictor Saving up for different hull, but ATM, it boosts about 544/548 and normal speed is 399 I think and jumps about 30ly The plasma accelerator also has the dispersal effect to screw with gimbal and turret ships.
Personally I think a ship with both a 6 shield generator and a 2 fuel scoop, which gives a total cargo of 160, is pretty good for a medium sized ship, especially One faster than the python and better looking too, plus weapon positioning looks better and has a better cockpit view, so I'm sold
Enjoying my Krait . For the money you get a lot of ship . It does all kinds of things except explore ( get the phantom version or another ship ) .My build is still A grade for now and I have 2 medium multicannons , 2 large Beams and one seeker missle at the moment . I can still do quite well in combat and still shift 94 units of cargo ( used to be 120 but I added a hull reinforce) . I found usefull to use boost as its pretty good if they get behind you ; doing turn and jousting runs. Ive taken npc vultures but they have the agility so it gets nailed abit
This is the first ship since the dbx that I've really loved, I have 2 one outfitted with a 44 ly jump range for exploring and one for just doing stuff in the bubble, 300 mil well spent.
Commander 64, lol planetary power down missions are the key at the moment, making me a tidy packet, 1.5 Mill per mission and they can be done while still in your ship. still nothing compared to the robigo days.
James Beckett i'm making between 1 & 2 mil per mission on data scanning missons which I quite enjoy. I have a very high rep with a few of the factions so it pays ok, but even at 2 mil a mission it's a lot of missions to 300mil.
Commander 64, yeah, the grind can be real. I've been playing a long time and I made a lot of my credits doing slave trading years ago before horizons even came out. I highly recommend this week's community goal though, the bounty hunting one is super easy and should have a nice pay out at the end of the week, I'm top 10% with only 17mil of bounties handed in, should at least give you 50-100 mil for some easy work? The main thing is to enjoy the climb though, and even 100 mil will let you build something amazing like an a rated krait.
James Beckett nice, I'll be honest,I haven't tried the community goals yet but I think I will now. I have my KRAIT, just need to kit it out. Can't even afford the insurance at the moment haha! Thanks for the advice mate.
"ford econovan" this hit me hard Krait mk2 is my all time fav ship, love the looks, love the hardpoints, love the sounds, love the fighter, and I definitely love the looks 💜
I‘d really like Frontier to finally release a ship that doesn’t have all kind of different parts clipping through each other. That multicannons burying their barrels deeply into the hull... it’s a nightmare! The positive aspect: You got a bigger field of fire for your weapons, although that is only achieved by firing right through your own ship. It gives me a headache!
Loved the Python, my only gripe about it was that it didn't have a Fighter bay and I flew so much for everything that it got boring. Krait mkII, less expensive than the Python with a Fighter bay.... Love it! I don't even run it for combat really, Two large beams, and a large multi.... Can't figure what to put on the two meds next to the cockpit. Fuel Scoop, Fighter Bay of course, Shield gen and First Class Cabin, Cargo, empty, SRV, and an Advanced Scanner. A-rate all the core and there is half the power to spare... So I slapped on 2 shield boosters, kill warrant scanner and heat sink for shits and giggles. And with all this junk, it is one of the coolest running ships I ever owned. Got a Imp and Tampon in the hangar that I forget to launch sometimes cause this ship just got weapons for days. I love it. Gonna have to invest in a Eng FSD but this is an all discount priced A-rated Dream ship. Cockpit is gorgeous, sound of the engines is teeth rattling. Love this ship
I‘m currently running two gimballed beams on the medium hardpoints and three large fixed multis on top. Two pips to weapons are plenty, the remaining four go into engines. The beams are sufficient for most targets, against smaller ships I don’t even bother spinning up those multicannons.
Zenith just engineered the thrusters to make it even better. The Krait handles the extra heat extremely well. It’s also the first ship I use (successfully) with a fixed weapon setup. I probably have a hit rate of 30% or less against anything smaller than a Python, but that’s still enough damage.
It handles superbly, especially coming from the Python. I haven't tried fixed weapons yet, although I have unlocked a couple of targets which were spamming chaff, and the hardpoints are indeed perfectly suited for it. I can see smaller ships posing a problem though, which is why I haven't switched away from gimbals just yet.
Great video as always. My "gripe" about the Python is simple. The cross support sections for the canopy is right in my field of view in the top left. It's like you've got the sun visor always down in your car. Do you get what I mean? I'll have to try a Krait as it's something new.
My favorite ship is still the Cobra MK III Simple, clean, fun to fly. In the mid ship size it's the Chieftain for is design. My FDL is a better fighter but I like the lines of the Chieftain.
The Krait seemed to be designed for professional Bounty Hunters. While the FDL is premium when it comes to pure damage, the Krait seems to be a good all-rounder with heavy firepower, good survivability and fighter support, a ship for a hardworking sort. While the FDL is for the hot-heads and showoffs.
It's been my main ship for about 50 hours now and my main complaint is module damage. I had the same problem with the Crusader: modules seem to take too much damage. I stack MRPs and it makes no odds, they still go down much faster than the core integrity. I assume this is due to its large spread-out profile, where the Vulture, federal ships, etc. are all bunched up and protect their internals better. What I want - a bigger version of the Vulture - doesn't seem to exist.
Running 3 large Frags and 2 Medium Right now for the engineered video. And you can have full pips to engines, 1 to shields and 1 to weapons and fire all day
My Krait Mk II (named "Money Talks", because I name all my ships after songs) replaced my Asp Explorer ("Come Sail Away") as my "do-stuff-around-the-Bubble" ship a LONG time ago. It can deep-core mine, collect the stuff, and fight off pirate Cutters at the same time (Reinforced, Multiweave Prismatic Shields are oh-so-nice) My Krait Phantom ("Crystallize") has replaced my Anaconda ("Ramble On") as my exploration ship-of-choice. Interestingly, my Anaconda replaced my Asp explorer as my exploration ship-of-choice, before I had the Phantom. I haven't used my Asp Explorer for ANYTHING in a LONG time.
The Kraitt 2 is IMHO, the best all around ship in Elite Dangerous. Not only can it be built to do anything, it can be built to do anything epically. Mine jumps 30lys and the reactor and power distributor are never even close to being maxed at 30.5. Yes there a lot e other great ships but my Kraitt stands undefeated in battle, as of yet anyway. The Asp Explorer is another good multi purpose ship. But that another story.
I know this vid is a couple of years old but just i just got into ED. I agree i flew the python and was like meh a bigger viper...bought the Krait MK2 and its my all arounder
I bought a python then almost immediately sold it because it was so boring. I actually prefer flying small ships like my vulture and then just using my anaconda for longer distances or cargo space. Wanna try out the krait as a sort of in-between of those ships, should sort out my fleet nicely :)
I'm running Two large efficient gimbal beams with thermal vent on the two side large hard points and 2 fixed medium overcharged multi cannons and a large long range PA on the center large slot it cleans up real nice.
My setup is almost similar like Lucian Jaeger with some difference in the medium class Below: 2 medium railguns Top: 2 large fixed vent beams 1 large PA in the mid This is very fixed mount focused, cause for me the turning rate of the Krait is optimal for it, not too agile
I've just started dabbling with fixed beams and find that the unengineered turn speeds are a bit too sluggish to keep on target reliably. I think you've gotta engineer the drives a bit to run fixed.
If you’re gonna go into pve combat with the krait you have to fly in the optimal thrust zone bacause if you don’t you’re gonna be super slow. It’s honestly better to fly it with faoff and just put full pips to engines and two to either systems or weps
I named my krait: Make elite krait again. Really it gives players with not that much money to get a really decent ship and in my eyes fdev is closing that gap from asp to python so their doing a good job of that. Plus it looks like the Millennium falcon.
Yes, sometimes I forget about those who still havent got much money. Krait is a great way to get a really good multirole ship without sacrificing a lot of combat performance at a reasonable price... Kudos to Frontier.
I have said in the past that if you have a Python you don't need a Krait. In many respects this is true but after years of faithful service I have retired my Asp and kitted out a Krait for exploration, why? You may ask as the Asp has a greater jump range, well the answer is simple and in two parts. One..after getting a guardian FSD upgrade the Krait is epic and Two.. it just looks sooooooo good.
Maybach 660HL Personally, I think it gives the ship more of a unique look. If the bottom side was flipped up on the top, I feel like it would be too similar to a Python, which is a ship it's already heavily compared to.
The cockpit placement is perfect in my opinion, as you've got good upper and lower vision, with only some obstruction to the sides. If they flipped it around, it would basically be a Python's boring cockpit vista all over again.
Honestly the Krait is arguably a better Python and is a Straight up replacement for the Asp-Explorer! You can literally swap all of your Asp-E Core's straight into this ship as well as your optional and still have room to spare
Christian Krakhofer if your using python to make money wtf are you mining!? It holds 7 passenger cabins,20 mil every 15 mins, how's that mining working out
Its also the best early game Pirate ship. You could use a drop ship i suppose. But until you get a conda or cutter, the Python is excellant as a pirate. Its also pretty beefy as a pure npc hunter especially once you fully engineer it. Fixed frags and ramming!
My only critique is that the shields can be more powerfull, engineering is not changing that, class six prismatic with three boosters, fully engineerd, gives exactly 666mj, bi weave around 450, and we need those resistances so it needs more mj's like you said.
Vindicator Jones 1000mj with poor resistances is useless, my numbers is a build mainly focused on resistances, i agree, it would have been nice to have six utility slots, but that is not going to change, the shield strengh can be changed though.
I would love to be able to set a wage for my fighter. Give them "r&r" where for like. Up to an hr or half an hour they can't be used for the slf too like. Increase their loyalty and happiness which could have some effect on their skills. Or something. Idk. Just more. Content in elite period would be nice. It's why I don't really play much anymore lol
Soul Reaver I mean I can see paying them a small wage. But not the full percent cut they get for their rank based of what you earn doing any job. It'd be like having an employee on paid vacation. Just pay them a little less. I just want more content. Lol
i've had to get rid of her and take on a mostly harmless thats truly utterly useless , But i want a fighter so gotta start from scratch atleast starting from the lowest by the time they get leveled up their cuts smaller . Yeah being able to pay them a flat wage say 25 - 50 k a week when they are inactive would be fair ,hell 25k is more than fair for doing nothing
JynxxRebels I can tell you so far that it's shields aren't much stronger than the chieftain's. With the same setup (Bi-Weave + 3 A Boosters) nets you only 5mj more on the challenger compared to the chieftain
zenoe1562 well that’s shitty I was hoping for a more combat focused chieftain because for me the chieftain isn’t that lasting in a fight especially without engineering
some player are into combat and other are into trading and exploring, to me the Krait with its fighter bay could be classed as a combat ship, that good for player that likes combat, the python can be used as a trading and exploration ship.
It funny, I can't imagine selling my Python. For me its the YT-1300 of Elite. It has as much soul as you want to put into it. I mean, apart from the Keelbacs boost, Dolphin faoff and the Imp Eagles boost, it has some of the best sounds in the game. That purring boost noise makes the Python sound like some sort of muscle car, in FAOFF it glides so well, learn to avoid stalls in it and its a wonderful ship to fly.
However the hell you like! I have seen commanders use the krait for exploration, smuggling, trading, passenger runs, bounty hunting.. It really is quite a versatile ship.. Personally I use it as a multipurpose mission runner and go from port to port picking up anything I can.
I originally chose the Vulture over the ASP Explorer first way back in the day, I have the same opinion of the Python as you Vindicator. It's not a bad ship at all but it's just not special to me, that's why I went with the FDL over the Python. That being said, I myself like the Krait. Despite also owning the Python now, I feel like the experience of the Krait is better. Mostly just in the sound and I love the cockpit design. To me it's more interesting, not to mention I would rather sit center then off to a direction if I can help it.
manrightchea I chose the FDL over the python as well back in the day. I don't like the sluggishness of the python, not for combat at least. I have a couple friends that say the Krait sounds like an angry RC car when accelerating, and I'm inclined to agree
zenoe1562 Yeah it sounds crazy lol. It's just an interesting ship you know, the Python was one of those ships to me that just never connected with me. It was the Jack of all Trades sure, but sluggish like you said. I eventually ended up getting one but that was after I bought all of the other big ships that I wanted. After you have the big three sorted everything else is just icing on the cake.
zenoe1562 Yeah I said the same about the Cutter after I got my Corvette A rated and fully engineered. That was a year ago. ED is the type of game where you will eventually look for new goals. Skip to now and I have multiple Anacondas, and an A rated fully engineered Cutter.
Hi VJ i m a subbed viewer and i think you fighting reviews are beautifuls, sometimes your voice is a bit unclear but its ok!! and please where i can find the music at minute 4 ?
Does the Krait make for a good mining ship? Ive been pondering swapping my Python for it because i dislike the Python's lack of visibility in the cockpit.
Old comment but: it's literally the python in a different skin and very slightly different optional loadouts. So if the python can do it so can the krait.
A Python - that I like, minus the of-center seat) with a fighter-bay and a central seat? Wow. To bad about the clipping medium guns, having guns in front that you see is always cool, but having them clip like that ruins my immersion. Once they fix that, I'll swap over to a Krait.
Trippy Bruh he really does! what controller are you using? My combat improved so much when I ditched the controller, bought a cheap hotas and learned how to use my thrusters properly.
The krait is a multirole. If it were stronger in shields then all you're calling for is an un-nerf the python. As you say, for only one thing do you consider the python more worthy, but your positive points for the krait are several, even if one is just aesthetics (which really calls your complaint that the krait is "merely" a python clone into question. Even if it were 100% identical even to the weapon placement, then it would STILL be an improvement because you like the look and the cockpit more), so your call for beating it on the tiny places where it's very slightly behind, wanting to keep every point it is better on (remember the calls for a fighter bay for the Python?) and then wanting some additional buffs over the python really just cements that what was never once wanted was a good ship, but one just magically better in every way, including price. IMO they needed to work out what the multiroles were intended for. E.g. a multirole would be a good pirate ship: able to beat up traders, unlike a trader, to get the goods but with enough hold to HOLD the goods, unlike a fighter, so stolen. And that would be, for example, the Viper 4, Cobra 4 and this Krait. But a generic multirole should manage ANY role without being intended for any one role and biased for it. So should the Krait be combat oriented for self defence as a pirate ship or as a club to beat traders with? If it needs self defence, then it needs speed too rather than maneuverability because it will defend itself against "police" and they will be in fighters, so will be better in a furball than they can possibly be, given equal footing. If it is to club traders with it needs focussed weapons so it can end the fight quickly and it needs to manoever to put guns on target for a ship that will be slower. But by focusing the weapons it doesn't need them as strong. The weapon differentials are not fine enough to make that a useful differentiator, however. So it would mean compared to the python either it is slower but turns better or it is faster but turns slower. And because it is otherwise equial to the python, just with a slightly different balance of optimisations, it should be as expensive. TBH the expense is probably the easiest one to undo. If you make it cost 12m more, that means nothing to someone wanting what it brings different to the Python, since it is the same price while the differences are there no matter the price. Swapping out a class 6 to get fighter bay capability seems a decent trade. Think that python lovers would not love to get a fighter bay? They might readily agree to lose a class 5 for it, but they probably won't take a class 6 going. So I don't see that offering a python change to add a fighter bay at the loss of a class 6 compartment would be generally accepted and therefore "OP" by general acclaim. But a 20% price difference IS notable. If you can't afford a python, you have a krait. If you can afford a python you can C rate a Krait. It's a big diffeence for a ship that is otherwise identical (given we agree that a class 6 bay is equal to ability to have an SLF). Some have posited another two utiity slots. Not so sure, me. Depends on what changes they have for explorer/miner/trader. If the python gets an explorer or trader slot added, the volume and count of slots added can easily make up any difference in price and performance. If they can't (or can't add it for the python without including necessarily the krait) then maybe pick either make it a little faster or a little more manoeverable. Or even just lighten the hull so it can jump a little further when carrying the same weight. Or, like I said, equate the prices.
i use 2 medium G3 soon to be 5 focused burst lasers, 1 large guardian plasma charger and 2 large cannons. it's easy pickens out there. i love it way more than the python because i agree with you, it is a great ship but it is just boring and i'm not too big on how it looks
Well, on this ships' shields, indeed it'd be nice if they were more powerful, possibly higher class, but it's the exact same with the Python... To me the Python, while a good cargo hauler and general mission runner, for most and certainly heavy combat, it has too low/weak shields, hull, speed, manoeuvrability, too low a power distributor and in general too low FSD range (and this ship is basically the same in many areas/classes). I'd like to see a Python mark ii for about 60-80 million and a Krait mark iii for 50 - 70 million to bridge the gap up to the Anaconda etc (with the Type 10 hardly being much cheaper) :) .
Once I saw the Krait, I worked my ass off for one. Got it last night, it's amazing.
Rivers256 love mine. Piloting the fighter is fun too, agile little craft.
literally the same exact thing happend to me, but it was in the multicrew seat. :)
Zenith Same, I thought that too, not everyone has the luxury of exploits
Yeah, it's nuts. I haven't got mine A rated yet, and I blew through tens of millions with just a basic set-up. The credit exploiters might be sitting on billions, but that doesn't mean the rest of us are, and frankly I think those particular folks should have their 'earnings' scrutinised at some point, you know, for balance purposes.
Zenith I stop playing because of the grind. Now people complain it's too expensive?!
200 million??!!! Damn... back to the asteroid fields *sigh
Nandi Brutler agreed, it seems respecting other people's opinions can sometimes be a rare thing.
And one simple thing i want to see my npc crew member sitting in his seat..why havent they done that??
Yeah, that's a bit odd isn't it. Surely not difficult to do, I just assumed it would already be a thing by now.
I too hate this !!!!
Been calling for this fix since crew was first introduced!
1st amendment under attack because that would be awesome so fuck you
What the actual fuck are you blathering on about fella?
Krait is by accident probably best anti-xeno ship right now . Chieftain and challenger got issue with 3 small useless slots in xeno combat . And Krait got it all right , awesome firepower , enough armor and shields to fight cyclops and basilisk , enough speed and maneuverability . Very good power plant , awesome power distributor and is super cheap to repair/rebuy . Python is good to but Krait is stronger , mostly thanks to speed and that power distributor allowing to fly 4/1/1 setup all day long
The two large hardpoints set further back would be perfect with turrets, with how flat the top of the ship is
God I just love the Krait MK2.
Ive already fully engineered the krait and it just fills so nice btw glad to your a better pilot with a stock a rated ship than fdev
Mine is running 3 Large Pulse Lasers and 2 rail guns. Works perfectly.
Its THE most charismatic ship in the game imo ( and i get were just talkin opinions, there is no right or wrong :) )
Its the jack of all trades, old veteran thats been there done that. That's how I see it anyway. Maybe not the toughest, strongest or fastest ship you have on the team but it does the job and it knows what its doing, ( i know, im talking like theyre people , just how I see it)
The python to me...if your ship stable was like a merc crew or something, would be the sergeant.
Love your ship name VJ! I named mine the Masterkraiter
I named mine Daddy's Hobby and callsign DAD-1 ... yes im a dad
Mine's named "Money Talks", because I name all my ships after songs (though I may switch the name back to "Money Made", because that's what it's good at doing).
My first impression has been that it takes turning in supercruise as a vague suggestion.
Vindicator Jones can't wait to see your engineered video. I feel it makes a significant difference, looking forward to it and thanks for the reply!
Actually the Constellation is smaller than the Krait in both length and width.
@ 7:54 multicannon is clipping through the ship hull
tell the devs on the forum. they will fix it
Its a feature
I wouldn’t worry about it if you have a sidewinder with turreted beam lasers they’ll turn right around and shoot through your own ship if your target is behind you
Great job ... yes, once you engineer the drives it will make a huge difference. I have a fully engineered Python so I just swapped all of the modules into my K MK II and it was night and day. Keep up the good work
I tried my hand at PVE combat for the first time ever in my Krait 2 yesterday, and died a few times.
Just watching your playing helped tremendously.
You can also run a G3 overcharged 5A power plant with this and be good on power
does it work good, mind sending me your build
Shisui Uchiha I haven't done PVP with it yet, but it's fun to say the least. You run out of ammo fast though.
Runs 6c biweave with thermal resist and the quick charge experimental
7a power distr. With charge enhanced and the experimental for more quick charging.
5a fsd with increased range and mass manager.
5a grade 3 overcharged power plant with the heat efficiency experimental.
Dirty drive engines with drag.
4 resistant shield boosters.
5a fuel scoop
6c fighter bay
All other slots are currently heavy duty hrp except the size 3 slot, which is a module reinforcement and the size 2 is an fsd interdictor
Saving up for different hull, but ATM, it boosts about 544/548 and normal speed is 399 I think and jumps about 30ly
The plasma accelerator also has the dispersal effect to screw with gimbal and turret ships.
Your HUD is the best I've seen 👍
Personally I think a ship with both a 6 shield generator and a 2 fuel scoop, which gives a total cargo of 160, is pretty good for a medium sized ship, especially One faster than the python and better looking too, plus weapon positioning looks better and has a better cockpit view, so I'm sold
you guessed my name waiting for you on the sunny side
James Beckett wow 300 mil? Your raking it in!
"ford econovan" this hit me hard
Krait mk2 is my all time fav ship, love the looks, love the hardpoints, love the sounds, love the fighter, and I definitely love the looks 💜
HC C: two medium mc's. One extended mag with corrosive (corrosive reduces ammo count). One overcharged with auto load.
I‘m currently running two gimballed beams on the medium hardpoints and three large fixed multis on top. Two pips to weapons are plenty, the remaining four go into engines.
The beams are sufficient for most targets, against smaller ships I don’t even bother spinning up those multicannons.
@ Cmdr Ratzass: You've got the same set-up as me. I also overcharged the multis, and gave all three of them auto loaders. Glorious dakka dakka!
To get the full effect of this ship will require two extra crew. 2 more pips to power and 2 ftrs out. 3 large and 2 med frags. Sorted.
Running 3 large Frags and 2 Medium Right now for the engineered video. And you can have full pips to engines, 1 to shields and 1 to weapons and fire all day
Yikes. Looking forward to the next upload.
I sorta don't see anything concerning the Phantom. Is there a video coming for that?
My Krait Mk II (named "Money Talks", because I name all my ships after songs) replaced my Asp Explorer ("Come Sail Away") as my "do-stuff-around-the-Bubble" ship a LONG time ago. It can deep-core mine, collect the stuff, and fight off pirate Cutters at the same time (Reinforced, Multiweave Prismatic Shields are oh-so-nice)
My Krait Phantom ("Crystallize") has replaced my Anaconda ("Ramble On") as my exploration ship-of-choice. Interestingly, my Anaconda replaced my Asp explorer as my exploration ship-of-choice, before I had the Phantom.
I haven't used my Asp Explorer for ANYTHING in a LONG time.
I just wish this was designed as the Phantom and the Phantom as the MKII. LOL. I want the MKII flexibility but the Phantom looks. LOL
A-rated and modified mine, it will run 3 efficient beams all day long and I have leveled up to combat Master in the last few days.
it looks and feels like a grown up viper. loving it
speed engineered is in the 390 - boost:530 regions
The Kraitt 2 is IMHO, the best all around ship in Elite Dangerous. Not only can it be built to do anything, it can be built to do anything epically. Mine jumps 30lys and the reactor and power distributor are never even close to being maxed at 30.5. Yes there a lot e other great ships but my Kraitt stands undefeated in battle, as of yet anyway. The Asp Explorer is another good multi purpose ship. But that another story.
I love the ASP... but Krait is just too good... Im loving it
I know this vid is a couple of years old but just i just got into ED. I agree i flew the python and was like meh a bigger viper...bought the Krait MK2 and its my all arounder
It reminds me of a cross between the Nostromo and the Millennium Falcon.
Good one dude you did this no engineer upgrade yet means I can see what she can do before hand
I use this ship as my anti-thargoid hull tank. It works like a charm.
I bought a python then almost immediately sold it because it was so boring. I actually prefer flying small ships like my vulture and then just using my anaconda for longer distances or cargo space. Wanna try out the krait as a sort of in-between of those ships, should sort out my fleet nicely :)
Jordan Lowry: I find that it's quickly becoming my preferred ship.
I put all my engineered python modules on the krait and love it, permaboosting 500m/s and it turns fast.
sold my python fast too. switched to Ferdelance and that is hell of a fun :)
I would like to see thoughts on fixed weapons, those top mounts are screaming 3 efficient PA's to me :-)
I've put 5x Efficient PA's on it and it is brutal, it connects better than a full PA FDL, the hardpoint convergence on the Krait is sick!
I'm running Two large efficient gimbal beams with thermal vent on the two side large hard points and 2 fixed medium overcharged multi cannons and a large long range PA on the center large slot it cleans up real nice.
My setup is almost similar like Lucian Jaeger with some difference in the medium class
Below:
2 medium railguns
Top:
2 large fixed vent beams
1 large PA in the mid
This is very fixed mount focused, cause for me the turning rate of the Krait is optimal for it, not too agile
? With engineering you can put 1.5 pips to engines and perma-boost. gg speed and turning problems, now you turn like a viper
Are you on xbox? cause I saw a krait with that name on xbox outside founders world and it gave me a good chuckle
No, what is the CMDR name I might know them.
813 Dont remember, just saw it and thought it was funny.
Sean Fleming Oof.png
I have said in the past that if you have a Python you don't need a Krait. In many respects this is true but after years of faithful service I have retired my Asp and kitted out a Krait for exploration, why? You may ask as the Asp has a greater jump range, well the answer is simple and in two parts. One..after getting a guardian FSD upgrade the Krait is epic and Two.. it just looks sooooooo good.
So far I'm liking the ship, but something just makes think the ship should be flipped over instead of the flat side being the top of it.
Maybach 660HL Personally, I think it gives the ship more of a unique look. If the bottom side was flipped up on the top, I feel like it would be too similar to a Python, which is a ship it's already heavily compared to.
fuck your opinion
meh something
I definitely does that why I still like it.
Xion Heart
O.o
The cockpit placement is perfect in my opinion, as you've got good upper and lower vision, with only some obstruction to the sides. If they flipped it around, it would basically be a Python's boring cockpit vista all over again.
I'm becoming a fan of your content.
Honestly the Krait is arguably a better Python and is a Straight up replacement for the Asp-Explorer! You can literally swap all of your Asp-E Core's straight into this ship as well as your optional and still have room to spare
I have a Federal Corvette, however i prefer my Anaconda as its got better jump range and its a very versitile ship
python is a very good miner with a reasonable cargo bay so you dont spend 4 hour strip mining, the kr8 is more combat focused imo.
Named my Krat the Millennium Pidgeon!
Robert Lopez love it! The front end certainly reminds me of the falcon.
My only critique is that the shields can be more powerfull, engineering is not changing that, class six prismatic with three boosters, fully engineerd, gives exactly 666mj, bi weave around 450, and we need those resistances so it needs more mj's like you said.
Umm, I got over a 1000 mj with a regular A grade shield and 4 boosters... But I really feel the Krait should have come with 6 utility slots.
I just wish that your npc didn't get paid while they are inactive ,the last 2 months i've paid mine over 200 million credits
Any plans on doing a video on the challenger?
Absolutely, but probably next week. :)
Vindicator Jones damn I was hoping it’d be soon because I still haven’t found anywhere to buy one
JynxxRebels it's a good combat ship, fully engineered it's def an upgrade to the chieftain. Maneuverability is damn near identical
some player are into combat and other are into trading and exploring, to me the Krait with its fighter bay could be classed as a combat ship, that good for player that likes combat, the python can be used as a trading and exploration ship.
Can anyone ID the song in the beginning when he talks about the Krait vs. the Python? Would be a great addition to my exploration playlist.
What is and where do I get that nifty thruster display on the top LH side of the the HUD?
Its an overlay I created in OBS for recording... I have a video half made on how to make it, I will get around to finishing it soon.
Thanks for the response and the videos. I look forward to that video. Cheers
I love this ship because of the 2 class 7 mod.
I dont know what your on about m8.. I would be happy to have a trained hamster.
Hey, that's a nice profile picture! "The Brave Little Toaster" is my favorite kids movie of all time!
why do u need horizons to buy the krait and chieftains?
The Python is an incredibly good multipurpose ship and I never fly it. it is so boring.
^went bankrupt once with her. restarted, own 24 ships and billions of CR now. not 1 pythong though.
Exile 1 Python is the beat ship to get any other ship you want in the game, then you end up selling he actual python
It funny, I can't imagine selling my Python. For me its the YT-1300 of Elite. It has as much soul as you want to put into it. I mean, apart from the Keelbacs boost, Dolphin faoff and the Imp Eagles boost, it has some of the best sounds in the game. That purring boost noise makes the Python sound like some sort of muscle car, in FAOFF it glides so well, learn to avoid stalls in it and its a wonderful ship to fly.
what is tye kraits role? how should it be used in game?
However the hell you like! I have seen commanders use the krait for exploration, smuggling, trading, passenger runs, bounty hunting.. It really is quite a versatile ship.. Personally I use it as a multipurpose mission runner and go from port to port picking up anything I can.
Fun fact: The krait was originally gonna have 5 utilities rather than 4. (I you look closely behind the 3rd large hardpoint You'll see it)
Oh, yeah. and carrying a fighter means carrying a C4 hardpoint :\
Multicrewing this ship means you suddenly can outgun a vette.
After you have the big three sorted everything else is just icing on the cake.
manrightchea after the god awful grind of getting the cutter, I have no intention on getting the corvette
zenoe1562 Yeah I said the same about the Cutter after I got my Corvette A rated and fully engineered. That was a year ago. ED is the type of game where you will eventually look for new goals. Skip to now and I have multiple Anacondas, and an A rated fully engineered Cutter.
I thought about getting that ship myself, I was between this ship and the python.
Hi VJ i m a subbed viewer and i think you fighting reviews are beautifuls, sometimes your voice is a bit unclear but its ok!! and please where i can find the music at minute 4 ?
Whats the name of your intro song ?🔥🔥 I want to get the Krait sooo bad!! Thanks for the dope vid man!!👌🔥
MooMoo 8399 do it! I love this ship 😁
maybe i should, rearm my krait for a CZ fun party. now its my AX hunter.
Nice soundtrack ! What is it ?
how is the heat efficiency of it ?
Can someone tell me what's the best optimal loadout for the krait?
The weapons clip through the hull when gimballing ...
Krait is my go to since I fist started elite
It handles better then the python
It’s faster and has a better pitch you can fill the difference
Hey Mr Jones what head tracking do you use?
Im not using any at the moment. I just use the thumbstick on my joystick as a head look.
On my system the normal engine sound is a NASCAR engine, I know it. 🏎
Can you share your build please ?
You make combat look so easy
Trippy Bruh he really does! what controller are you using? My combat improved so much when I ditched the controller, bought a cheap hotas and learned how to use my thrusters properly.
Download load out sheet here:

Video created 1 year ago.... subscribe? I think not. Sorry, mate
All its hardpoint at the top ?
And I can do anything that you wanted to do you can be mine combat exploration and it makes a fantastic pirate ship
Try 3 large gimballed beams
.... The Krait comes with purple displays?
i use 2 medium G3 soon to be 5 focused burst lasers, 1 large guardian plasma charger and 2 large cannons. it's easy pickens out there. i love it way more than the python because i agree with you, it is a great ship but it is just boring and i'm not too big on how it looks
Where dose one buy this ship?
Dude, the python is a really good ship. I dont use it much anymore but its a fantastic choice.
Love the ship and it's options.. HATE the view, especially in VR.. how can you look up to the right or left? answer: you can't.
I'm surprised I isn't see yamiks in the comments
