I deeply appreciated this dive into one of the darkest periods of History, no matter what still too many believe about "Renaissance" (I'm tired about the myths of "dark and backwards" Middle-Ages too... when a lot of the clichés associated to it are actually from the "Renaissance" period and its bloody religious conflicts). Also your illustrations are simply gorgeous, portraying simple people in clothes devoid of fluff. Love it.
I'm so so glad it resonated! When I was doing the research for this I had some pretty big feelings...it's just a complex topic that gets more troubling the deeper you dig into it. It was really hard to figure out how to distill the information down without losing that emotion, so this was so gratifying to read. Thank you!

At least in Salem, the persecution was also at least partly (some would say substantially) caused by financial considerations-debt or greed-could be satisfied by accusing someone of witchcraft.
Yes, I've heard that. I'm sure underlying social conflicts could've played into it but I wouldn't go so far as to guess that anyone was cynically accusing their neighbors of witchcraft. I've been wrong about how awful people can be before though 🤷♀️
Your research, art, and script writing are fantastic. I agree that the 17th century does not get enough attention. I'm currently working on a historically accurate witch costume based the East Anglia witch trials of the 1640s.

oh, the 17th century is my favorite era for fashion. very underrated. a dark time to be sure, but we shouldn't overlook the dark parts of our history (or sensationalize them, or rewrite them..... genuinely, why is it so hard for people to just be normal about history?) thank you for this beautifully made video!
