omg anna i couldnt relate to anything more- when i first started uni i put so much pressure on myself to go as long as I could without going home and kept telling myself I didnt need to go home. It took going home after 3 months to realise i really do love my home comforts at home. Whatever makes you feel best is what you should do. I have been revising at home and only going back to uni a week before my exams- dont worry youre smashing it! xx

Hi Anna, I'm a final year med student at Birmingham too. I remember 2nd year exams, they are very difficult for everyone but you'll get through them. I promise it gets better. Proud of you!

I'm in a really similar position at the moment. I'm just trying to remember that burnout is a million times worse for your productivity than rest. I've really come to realise that rest IS productive and no one should feel bad for taking it. Thank you for uploading this, you have no idea how much I needed to hear it xx

Aw issy I’m so happy to hear it helped 💖 just had to be honest with everyone. And it’s very true rest is so so important my mum always says it’s a marathon not a sprint and always makes me think you need to take time off too else you burn out. Good luck with everything sending lots of love xxx

There is a very small amount in the first 2 years, its very lecture heavy and more traditional then the next 3 years are clinical and mainly placements in hospital

So wonderful that you have a caring and supportive family. It's invaluable
And my revision tip is simple - get organised and do all revision in 40min blocks then have a break.

Hi Anna 💗 I’m feeling the exact same, it’s been a very stressful few weeks and taking the time for yourself is so important! I have a big exam next week that is all about physiological lab skills and it’s a verbal exam which makes it even more scary! But so excited for it to be over soon 💗 good luck with all your exams! I know you’ll do amazing ✨✨✨

My parents went on holiday a few weeks ago I’m 33 and I’ve lived alone since I was 19, usually when they go I get to go home and stay there for the nights caring for the dog and then drive home to my cats for the daytime , however this time I found myself on many nights unable to cope and got the dog and took him to my house because I was so overwhelmed. I think this is normal. If home is a comfort to you and you feel safe and most importantly supported there then that’s great and you shouldn’t feel “dramatic” about it. We all have things we need when we are vulnerable it doesn’t mean we’re failing or bad or silly it makes us human
Do you think this would be making you feel so bad if it wasn’t for lockdown? When you just spent so much time at home with family, where family was all you had for in person support. I shielded in the pandemic first for 5 months then for 2 more stints of 2 months I now find it almost impossible to go anywhere or see people because I’ve spent nearly 2.5 years being told people are a danger to me and they could kill me (I have a severe lung issue) balancing trying to be put together to stay away or feel ok away from my home which was a place of comfort to me during the pandemic is hard.

Ah my lovely, I’m doing a Masters and even though I don’t have exams, this year all my essays just really got on top of me and I felt I couldn’t cope. I’m normally the most organised person in the world with my uni work but it all piled up and I just got too overwhelmed. Sending love x

I've never related to anything more! I haven't sat in person exams for such a long time, since 2019! I'm a biomed student and have in person exams coming up and I forgot how much pressure this time of year is and how easy it is to burn out/lose yourself. It's so okay to have a good cry too, I'm always teary during exam season. You are doing so well though, you got this! 🥰❣ xx

please don't ever feel stupid or dramatic for feeling overwhelmed! I'm a medical student myself and medical school can be super draining and the pressure we put on ourself and fear of not performing well! But I'm sure you're gonna do great in your exams! Be gentle with yourself and I hope you can recharge a bit being around your family! Lots of love from Germany

I feel the same way about going home during exams, Anna! It's soo good to be able to relate to others because I see people staying in their flats for weeks without seeing their family while I get homesick the most during exams. We can get stuck in a bad headspace if we are on our own most of the time, not having interactions and it just feels so nice to be home, talk to my parents if I feel down or have a good home-cooked meal in the end of the day.

hey anna, you are doing so well 💕💕 you made the best decision to go home and rest is very productive too! last week I was so ill but I really needed to revise, took one full day off and the effects of rest are just incredible! we are all in this together 🤍
my GCSEs start in 3 days! my best revision tip is starting with your weakest or least favourite subjects like you said! subjects that usually take a lot more brain power like English and drama I will do first and I’ll save my favourites such as chemistry and religious studies till last 😌
also, if you don’t feel motivated to revise, do little chunks of revision even 5 minutes is great! another thing I do when I don’t feel motivated is start off with something I like so for me maths is my comfort subject so I’d start with a few questions just to ease into the revision mode then you can ramp it up!
lastly, change of scenery is great, I went to the library till about 4.45pm today and it was so nice just to have a different scenery for revision, do whatever’s best for you but most importantly REST IS SO IMPORTANT 😊

Hi Anna! I just wanted to say that I get what you’re feeling. I’m in my last year of medical school here in Costa Rica, and this semester I had my first in person exams since the pandemic started 2 years ago and I was so anxious and felt a lot of pressure as well. But I just wanted to say that you’re doing great, and I’m sure everything’s gonna be alright. You’re giving your best and that’ll show the results at the end. Love you lots ❤️
