      Yes it is good, but my nomination is the opening scene in "ST The Motion Picture": The three Klingon K’t’inga battlecruisers approaching the V’ger cloud.
      It is also the first scene of Klingons (with Mark Lenard is the Klingon commander) as they have been depicted ever since and the ‘oriental background’ music was perfect.

    What would have been funny would be to see Sulu dressed in a WWII-era aviator’s jacket and cap, complete with the goggles, pushing forward on the joystick to get the Bird-of-prey to pitch nose-down in pursuit of the whaling ship! Of course, that would entail installing a stick on the Bird-of-prey, but - hey - if they can install a “manual steering column” on the Enterprise-E, how hard can it be to put a stick on a Bird-of-prey, eh? 🤣

    • @blppt
      @blppt 2 роки тому

      Bird of Preys were built to be heavily pilot oriented---a starship, OTOH, wasn't about high speed maneuvers and tight close quarters handling. In short, Sulu was in heaven piloting this thing. As such, you really didn't need to 'take manual control'---the ship is always under manual control.
      Well, except for the Defiant, and to a lesser extent the Intrepid class (Voyager).
      Not to mention that entire Insurrection scene was ridiculous---the Starfleet trained helmsman could have done that maneuver in their sleep. As well as that cheap Commodore 64 joystick.

    @RandomCamGuy1 Nope. It's a Klingon ship. The Romulan Warbird has no neck, it's a completely different model. It's the same ship from Star Trek III. The name "Bird of Prey" comes because the ship in ST3 was supposed to be a Romulan ship in the early drafts, became a Klingon ship, but the name was retained.

      The risk must be much more to the ship than to the surrounding environment, else you'd think this effect could be used as weapon in itself: Just send probes, and forget about photon torpedos, just have warp capable probes engage/disengage warp inside a planetary system to cause havoc.

    • @chrismc410
      @chrismc410 Рік тому

      Depends on the Bird-of-Prey. The small B'rel-class D12-class like the Bounty or Lursa and B'etor's Bird-of-Prey aren't big ships compared to other starships. K'Vorts are a little smaller than Vor'cha-class Attack Cruisers and they are significantly smaller than Negh'var-class cruisers, the biggest ships the Klingons have and even they are a good ⅓ the size of the Romulan D'deridex-class, the largest ship in the Alpha/Beta Quadrants. Most Klingon ships trade size for speed/maneuverability and forward firepower. Klingons are all about facing their enemies head on and it shows.

    They should just torpedoed the Whaling Ship and blew them out of the water. That's the klingon way of solving this problem.

    • @chrismc410
      @chrismc410 9 років тому +3

      Nah. A Klingon would have done what Kirk did.
      From a Klingon point of view, there's no honor or glory in destroying one, a whaling ship who cannot harm them and two, those who would destroy beings who can't defend themselves.
      To a Klingon, the whalers aren't worth the energy, the torpedo or the time to kill them. Decloaking and showing what a true warrior is and seeing them scatter is satisfaction enough and the whalers live with their shame and dishonor, worse than dying to a Klingon.
      My $0.02 cents

    • @DorianMichaelsIII
      @DorianMichaelsIII 8 років тому +1

      +chrismc410 I always thought of a Klingon response like this 'You want to slaughter these creatures, these whales so badly, Humans? Very well, you may do so...*IF* you can get by *US*. So come...if you think you've the mettle to match a ship full of Klingons.'
      [the whalers run like they've seen a damn ghost, which, in a way, they have]
      'That is what we thought. Cowards. Even these whales, *animals*, possess more honor and glory in their mere existence than YOU.'
      And even if the Klingon commander were ruthless enough simply TO have blown them away (or pragmatic enough; if they HAD to decloak to use the transporter to beam the whales up, which I suspect really WAS the case here, and the Klingon captain didn't want to leave any witnesses alive for the remotest CHANCE that they might talk, likelihood of them being believed or not) he *wouldn't* have wasted the torpedo; he'd just use the disruptors, since any more wouldn't have been *worth* wasting on them-- or indeed *necessary*; one good salvo from those wingtip cannons, and what is left of that ship (OR its crew) is going home in a coffee mug.
      (But overall, I agree wholeheartedly with your analysis-- very good sir; in a past life, in an alternate universe, you yourself must have been Klingon.)

    • @chrismc410
      @chrismc410 8 років тому +1

      DorianMichaelsIII He wouldn't even need the disruptors. The ship's repulsor thrusters, that's what making it hover in atmosphere at even a quarter power if that would be more than enough to capsize that whaling ship.
