- KGW photojournalist Eric Patterson toured the federal courthouse in downtown Portland to see extensive damage from nightly protests.
In this footage, there are multiple views including flammable cans and bags of feces, a walk-through of the main lobby in the courthouse, and many bricks, rocks, glass, and burned items within the fenced-off area.

I used to work in manufacturing in the 1980s and competition was so good that your wage and benefits were fairly good too. Then started NAFTA, and I watched all the manufacturing companies move down to Mexico and elsewhere. It was at that point manufacturing companies started to cut back on benefits and pay because of fewer jobs. Also It was about that time that CEOs started making more money than one person could imagine having in their lifetime. In my opinion, NAFTA was the number one driving cause for the decline of workers wages. That truly was the start of the shrinking middle class.

I haven't been out myself but I do know folks who have. One of my conservative co-workers recently went out to see what was actually going on and came back with an attitude check. He had been completely subscribed to the idea that most of the protesters have been destructive violent but learned that's not the case.
