    Five years after starting a business, I ended up having to go back to work for a couple years. My mother told me, “I prayed that you would find a good job like the one you had.” That job was killing me. She didn’t have the presence of mind up pray that my business would grow.

      RIGHT!!??!! - Our parents mean well but they're perspective has not evolved. When I couldn't keep an admin asst (because of my boss) - I realized that this latest generation was not coming close to putting up with the same crap - my perspective evolved and I have different prayers for our kids. 😘

    So many good points, so much perspective. "I do as little as possible" and the reframe of generational curses were both really intersting conversation pieces.

    I always enjoy watching Halisi's videos and how she adds encouragement to an older demographic to the FIRE movement.
    I like how she's transparent with her $2,650/month lifestyle on one social security check. That's very helpful to know. Most of these channels are so secretive and don't help people see how possible it can be.
    I like how she repeats that you need to live within your means. It's so truthful.
    I agree with Halisi about meeting people and the first they mention is their job. I was just on vacation last week and that kept on happening and people would get so confused when I wouldn't initially answer with my job and instead discuss hobbies. And the funny thing was was that most of the people I met were retired and yet they still deferred to their job.
    Thanks for sharing.

    Watching this replay has me so excited about Portugal again! I had it on my initial list with Mexico but I “heard “ some discouraging info regarding financial solvency in order to get a residency visa. I’ll definitely have to revisit that after listening to this replay as well as picky girl travel. One thing is certain, I will be shifting my home base within the next 12 months so I need to get all of info situated.

      @@OurBlackUtopiaI’d only like to add that idea of slavery in west Africa was not what was practiced in the US and also the number of African people who sold Africans to the European is so minute. It was not a widespread practice it can be mentioned for sure but was not a major part of the slave trade….

      The key is to take American salaries to a place with a lower cost of living. Portugal, for instance, is not interested in folks coming for jobs that Portuguese need. Fina a 100% remote job or work for a global company that has offices in Europe. 😉

    Why do you blame the USA for your living beyond your means?
    Why don’t you sell your home in Tx. and cut your ties?
    Your in a country , Portugal that bought and sold and traded Africans !
    Why did you leave Mexico?

    • @OurBlackUtopia
      @OurBlackUtopia Рік тому +1

      I blame the USA because it's sytems are created to incentivize us to live beyond our means and our crappy educational system teaches NOTHING about money management nor investing. They also sold slaves out of Ghana, should that too be off of my list? I've paid the dues to live where ever the heck I wanna live. Ric and I are living our best lives down the street from castles for a fraction of what it costs to live in the US.

      This comment is unbelievably myopic. There are two mass shootings today in the good old US of A. No one here is exempt from getting gunned down by a crazy person with access to weapons. And that’s just one of the crises! Watch and learn these women are demonstrating how smart they are they see a situation and they’re changing what they can change. And I’m right behind them. If I had the money together, I’d be out of here tomorrow. For now I continue to watch learn and plan and save. Thanks for all your hard work Stephanie, Roshida, and Halisi!

      I'm sorry, but you sound like a person that is jealous. You don't have to be, you too can choose to live your life however you want to and WHERE ever you would like. Did you forget that America was built on slave labor? Oh, and by the way, why should she sell her house in TX when she can probably live off of the rental income or save it for her family to create generational wealth. Envy is not a good look...
