Jeremy, what I love about Surf Watch is the elevated chaise lounges at the pool. Many older travelers aren’t able to get in and out of the lower lounge chairs. They are designed for handicapped folks. I found most resorts do a mix of lounge heights. I do appreciate your reviews.
We just returned from this property and here are my comments: we found the mattress in master BR to be perfect, couch in LR too soft, and we too loved the shower. We didn’t find the walk to the beach to be long - maybe 5 minutes - never gave it a thought. However, we weren’t carrying beach stuff, nor had any kids with us, and since it was January, no crowds. I know what you mean about not spectacular ambiance, but it was very nice for a winter getaway during COVID.
We loved the reasonably priced large cabanas at the ocean pool. Great for families, especially ones with babies or toddlers who need shade or a nap. Also, we brought a couple fishing poles and the kids liked fishing off the dock near the check in lobby - just one more thing for them to do.
Cool. Cabanas would be great for families. We have seen on the Surfwatch's Facebook page where they are renovating the ocean pool and those cabanas. So they should be better than ever when you get a chance to go back. Thanks for watching!
Stayed at the MOG a month ago in Hilton head and it was top notch in everything . Looking to stay at Surfwatch or Barony if I can’t exchange into Ocean Grande again. Thanks for the video! Great info👍
Thanks for watching! All three are great, but for us, Surfwatch is the least interesting of the three. I will also have some likes & dislikes videos for Grande Ocean and Barony coming out in the near future.
Great video! Love the beach cubby’s for your stuff! Great perk! Sorry to hear the ambiance is lacking there. Prob hard to compete with the Orlando ones! Villa looks pretty tho.👍
It certainly doesn't compete with the Orlando properties, it is nice though. Just lacking a little. Another tip, since you will be in Hilton Head in January, check out the SERG Passport. Just do a Google Search on "SERG Passport 2020". SERG is a restaurant operator in Hilton Head that operates quite a few restaurants. Their annual Passport has a lot of BOGO (buy one get one 50% off) deals. Many of the restaurants also have early bird specials and some of those coupons work with their early bird deals. We ate at a few of their restaurants while there.
Not sure if there are any must tries, we haven't been to enough of the restaurants to really compare. Over on TUG, there is a great HHI Restaurant thread with a lot of great recommendations; tugbbs.com/forums/threads/martys-hhi-restaurant-thread-ongoing.211351/page-7#post-1880189 . We really liked Skull Creek Dockside and Skull Creek Boathouse.
The loungers are ADA / Senior height accessible. I assume they do this so as to make sure they are accommodating all potential users of the pool furniture. We will be there in about a week. So, I will see how difficult they are to use. But, by the sounds of the concept, they should be easier to get in and out of. Maybe just an awkward feel at first if you aren't used to it?
That is probably it. We are seeing more and more of the high pool loungers at other resorts as they switch them out for new ones. Just seems a little awkward to be sitting up so high. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for watching and happy that you found this helpful. I will have a few more like this from Hilton Head Island after we visit Barony and Grande Ocean in a couple weeks.
I think what your trying to say with a lack of character is Surfwatch has a condo feel to it where as other resorts have a condo feeling as well BUT a vacation club feel as well. It's hard to explain.
It is hard to explain, but for some reason for us Surfwatch lacks something. It almost seemed like a low effort resort for Marriott to build. Just take some buildings and drop them on some dry land with a couple of pools. As odd as it may sound, I think Cypress Harbour in Orlando has more southern charm than Surfwatch. Thanks for watching!
@@DestinationTimeshare We will be at Cypress May 10-17. We were there a couple of weeks ago and at least they had a couple of activities a day. That's the first time since covid their were some activities. Also, at Lakeshore they had a few activities as well.
I bought that cap in the Marketplace at Marriott Ocean Pointe in 2020. The last time I was there they didn't have them any more. Most of the hats I see at the resorts now are cheap non name brand hats. The quality isn't the same. They don't charge as much for them, but I would rather pay more for a good quality hat. Many of the resorts don't have MVC branded hats at all now. Thanks for watching.
What time of year would be good for this location? We're looking at end of Feb with 4 kids, but I'm afraid it might be too cold to do anything but swim in the pools.
February is probably going to be too cold for swimming except for the heated pools or indoor pool. For better weather you would want to head to the south Florida costs. Thanks for watching!
@@DestinationTimeshare well, everyone has different ideas of how a vacation should be. I mean, I hate cruises, but I can see how some people would love them. It just depends on what you like and dislike.

Love Hilton Head Island! Will have to look at staying at the Marriott Surfwatch!
It is a nice resort. We will be at Grande Ocean, Barony and Monarch in December to compare. Thanks for watching!

Looking to buy resale at SurfWatch....thanks for the thumbs up and thumbs down review....very helpful!

It lacks color. Cypress Harbour and Grande Vista are filled with beautiful plants and tropical flowers. @@DestinationTimeshare

I like the sea and surf pool. Iryo on it though.
The resort isn't inherently bad, but it just wasn't our favorite. I can certainly see why many people love the resort. Thanks for watching.
