Great video as always. I have to disagree with you regarding Crystal Shores. We were there for the first time in March '22. We used points since this was not our home resort. The "up and down and around' feature didn't bother us at all ( we are both in our '70s). The pools and beach were one of the best we have seen in the MVC system. Getting there by air was no problem (we fly from ORD to Ft Meyers). Its an easy drive to the island. Less than an hour.
I figured this would be the one property that people disagreed with me on the most. It is a great property, we just think there are easier places for us to go to that aren't as hard or "expensive" to book into. The best time of year, points wise, is hurricane season, but there is always that chance the trip could be wiped out. Thanks for watching!
Ahhh much appreciated and great info! It’s funny, two of the most overrated were on my list of places to visit (Harbour Lake and Surf Watch). And I’ve always been curious about Monarch at Sea Pines too.

Both Harbour Lake and Surfwatch are nice enough. Certainly still worth a visit even though I think they are overrated. They just get a lot of hype that I am not sure is all that deserved. Thanks for watching.

I personally love the Maui Ocean Club especially ocean front views. I'm also a huge fan of the pools and fountains at MOC. Although I agree that the older buildings are not really vacation club "home away from home" and would also rate them disappointing.
We enjoyed SurfWatch in HHI. The villas were beautiful. Yes, it is set a distance from the beach but being surrounded by trees is part of the Hilton Head vibe.
I’m staying in the 3rd floor of the Ocean Dunes building of Surfwatch right now and I love it!! I’ve stayed at other ocean front properties and this one is so unique because of the beautiful green marsh. First time in Hilton Head and I love it here. We’ll be back in March staying in Grande Ocean.

Thanks for the info on Imperial Palms being economical on the points for a 3 bdr. This helps a lot in planning a trip to Disney World with the grand kids.

Completely agree on Maui. We had a decent suite with a full kitchen so that wasn’t the issue, it was the resort itself - crazy busy, too many people to amenities, staff was very underwhelming, beach is not much of anything, building layout was odd - main building gives motel vibes and the food on resort and close was meh. Went to Ko’Olina Beach Club on Oahu and was expecting similar, but was completely blown away - what a difference. Resort was gorgeous, beach was a actually a beach with tons of availability, staff was incredibly friendly, wonderful beachfront walking path, good food, nice suite and it had the perfect guest ratio. Ko’Olina itself has a great atmosphere with incredible restaurants nearby - loved it all.
crystal shores is my jam. they just had an increase though which should be fun ..
Totally agree with you regarding Imperial Palms Villas. I stayed there last year and the 3 bedrooms offered so much space. Grounds were immaculate and staff well-trained and very friendly. It was during Hurricane Ian and the resort totally impressed me with their level of service and preparedness during such a frightful time. Can't wait to visit there again and make maximum use of my exchange week.
Just got back from SurfWatch! We Loved it. We rode our bike out on the boardwalk and rode our bike up and down the beach. We are very active and didn't mind the walk to the beach at all. Is it perfect? No but it was pretty close. It was mid island with easy access to everywhere by bike. Parking was easy as well. We rode our bikes up to Barony Beach to explore and we prefer SurfWatch over Barony. We had no kids with us so that makes a difference.
Great video, as always. I'd love to see more comparisons of properties in the portfolio that overlap areas.

The only one we have stayed at is Harbour Lake and it was fine! Nothing great! I stayed at the Maui a long time ago and I would agree the resort itself is fine! Doesn't compare at all to everything you see outside! Great video idea! Hope you and the family are doing well!
All is well. We haven't been traveling as much in 2023. So things are a little quieter. For some reason lots of things have broke recently; van needed new tires, washing machine broke, our Chrysler 200 convertible top wouldn't go up and it has been in for repair for 4 weeks. Everything seems to happen all at once. Hope things start to go smoother going forward. I guess we just need to travel more like the past few years. Thanks for watching.

We had a reservation for 10 days in early Dec 2022 in a two bedroom in Crystal Shores. About 60 days prior they got hit by Hurricane Ian. Decided even if they were open, there would be too much damage in the area, so moved to Ocean Pointe. For almost the same amount of abound points was only able to get a studio at Ocean Pointe. So don't think Crystal Shores is that pricey point wise.

i can't argue with your comments about the maze of elevators at Crystal Shores, but we still really like the resort... As for Maui, i Like the Ocean Club, but really wish they had more grills and picnic tables. I think the lack of kitchens in half the units, makes more people interested in grilling..
I’m so glad I found your channel. Your videos are very detailed and has helped me immensely, thank you! For the Maui Ocean Club, there’s two options in the MVC site. Which one would I select to make sure it’s the usual villa (kitchen, in-room laundry, etc)?
Glad you found the channel too. Thanks for watching. As for Maui Ocean Club, there is the older section and the newer towers. The newer towers are Lahaina and Napili. Those are the only units (1 bedroom and larger) that have full kitchen and in room laundry. The older section (hotel conversion) doesn't have either.

And interesting about Harbor Lakes. We actually like it a lot and it’s so easy to get on exchanges. I love the key west vibe. Reminds me of DVC OKW and now with the room remodel we really enjoy it. Maybe we are too easy to please but the kids love the pools.
We do like the vibe at Harbour Lake, we just don't like the pools so much. The room remodel does look good but there are others that we prefer to visit instead. Glad to hear you love the resort. Thanks for watching!
This is a big scam cause you pay yearly fees that match what you pay to stay at a decent hotel. So all what you pay for this is a waist. It is a Big Scam
Thanks for the review. We were thinking about trying Maui once but as you say it seems is if the Ocean Club is inferior to the Waiohai in Kauai.
We have never stayed at Waiohai but visited for one day when we had an owner update there. It looks nice. The best one would be the one on the island you want to visit most. I hear a lot of owner complaints about some of the view categories at Waiohai. Not sure if there is anything to that.
@@DestinationTimeshare If you look at a map of the Waiohai most of the units don't have great ocean views. The resort is laid out perpendicular to the beach. Not parallel. I'm sure that influences those comments. We have always gotten island views. You look out at the pools and gardens in the middle of the complex.
Wow Westin Lagunamar and Kaanapali make all these places look like dumps. Not sure if I will be joining the "Trust"
To be fair, Lagunamar and the Maui resorts are the upper echelon of properties in the Vistana system. Westins in general are also a nicer than the Marriott properties. Thus there is a reason they were assigned more Club Points in the Abound program. Thanks for watching!
Hi Jeremy! May day, may day....I am trying to go to the surf club in Aruba but am struggling to figure out what the various views are. Can you help explain? I am a lover of crystal shores but I also understand the annoyance of figuring out how to get around. I have been there during Christmas for the past few yrs and have not had good weather so I thought I try Aruba. At Crystal shores I prefer the pool view -although you do lose the privacy with the glass balconies compared to the private balconies on the island view.
Do you know what view I would need to overlook the pool at the surf club? I am only seeing ocean front, garden, ocean view and ocean side. I definitely do not want the view that overlooks the marriott next door. Any help would be appreciated as nobody at Marriott can seem to help. Sherry
Ps - I will say a few days at JW and a week at Crystal shores is a nice combination!

One other thing to note. All those red garden view on the right hand side of the diagram actually overlook the pool. None of them look over to whatever it is that is to the right of that building (Spyglass). We are actually going to Aruba Surf Club in June. I had read where someone else said that they needed updates. We haven't been back since 2018 and it seems like they haven't updated the rooms since then either.

Love your videos and respect your viewpoints, but you got to stop all the hate on Marriott Harbour Lake! It’s clearly designed for families with younger children. Not for everyone, and probably not a great fit for you. That doesn’t make it over-rated though.
For those in the target demo, it’s by far the best resort we’ve stayed at in terms of the amenities and activities schedule, they have a huge activities staff compared to the number of guests. The compact size is fantastic as well, everywhere is a 5min walk (again great for little kids!)
It's just one person's opinion. I provide a viewpoint based on my experience and point out the drawbacks as I see them. Yes it is a great resort for kids, but even still, the resort pools are way too small. I agree it isn't for everyone and not really for us. We do own there and perhaps the reason our annual fees are higher than Grande Vista is due to the size of the activities staff that you mention.
Agreed with the overrated Maui Ocean Club (just don't tell my mom I agree). So many other places with more to offer.
Have you been to Frenchman’s Cove? Your thoughts about it?
We have not had a chance to stay there yet.
We have been there - nice, but nothing nearby and cabs are expensive. Go down to the Red hook area - Ritz is fantastic!
