Thanks for another fun video! I ordered my first Raspberry Pi last week, and a bunch of parts for DIY home automation. Saving up now for a Falcon. May start with the Pi shield.
I just love your videos! This will be my first year and I am super excited. I have my first 1000 pixels and my Falcon 16v3 is due to be delivered today. I literally can't wait to get started and a lot of that has to do with you and your awesome videos. Thank you for sharing so much with us. Take care and God Bless.
Thanks Monica! Yeah, it's a lot of fun! Be sure to check out the links in my video descriptions to the forums and Facebook groups - the community is a great place for help and ideas. Also check into the zoom meeting on Wednesday nights is you haven't already (see xlights.org).
I did it. I currently have no lighting set up. I will this year. Last night, I ordered 2 5V strings of 50 Bullet pixels each, a 5V 60A power supply, and a Falcon F16V3. I’m trying to decide which Raspberry Pi to get to run everything. The only Pi I have experience with is my Pi4 that I have Home Assistant running on. I was thinking about getting a CanaKit to run FalconPlayer or Xlights on.
Brian, the original tree was an old mouth design with only 3 lip positions. We updated the mouth to include 4 lip positions to match the other props like Bulby and others. We can still make the older style if needed and the model will still be in xLights. The updated tree is here: www.boscoyostudio.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_61&products_id=391
I believe so. I have limited experience with that and used a video to output to a monitor. You might check in the forums/FB groups listed in the description of my videos as surely someone there has more experience doing that.
@CanispaterChristmas - I was wondering if you can show your power station, and more specific the way that you have the fuse blocks and how you do the distribution of power. Or maybe just post a picture of the setup.. Thanks.
@@CanispaterChristmas Thank you for your reply. There was a video where you had power supplies, a master switch, and a few fuse blocks... But the question, if I use 12v pixels, where do I put the fuse an dhow big of a fuse?

Hey, I didnt get any of that swag when I purchased my boscoyo tree :(. Maybe its because I am Canadian. Can you do a video on wiring that tree and how you do the wiring jumps between nodes.
Jeff -- Help please - I have 4 of the singing trees, and the xlights model is for the 3 mouth movements and I have the ones you have in this video with the 4 mouth movements. I am trying to insert the pixels but the wiring diagram in Xlights is not correct for this model. Have you wired these up yet with the 4 mouth movements? Do you know of a wiring diagram that can be had? I searched the xlights google drive, but did not see it on there. Also waiting on the diagram for the Gingerbread man from Boscoyo. I hope I don't have to wait for so long that my display can't happen. I am a noob on my first year, and I went all in. Pleas help if you can.
Did you try sending a note to James at Boscoyo? He mentioned having that on his todo list, but I haven't tried populating it yet and haven't discussed it with him.

hiya Jeff wanted to know if there is any kind of coupon code or group buy planed for this new stuff? This is my year to change over from 40,000 led's to pixel so I am looking for a way to mount all them was thinking of drilling a ton holes in pvc but this looks a lot easier to do
Haha. He usually runs specials around the trade shows (Transworld and Christmas Expo) if you're in the US. I believe there are group buys in Austrailia, but not sure if there are any others. Honestly, the normal prices are pretty cheap anyway. Yes, much easier than drilling holes in PVC.
Hi Jeff...totally off the topic of this video but I was wonder if you could recommend to me a pixel controller that I can use just to test my pixels. I see you have a nice little setup so I'm wondering what I could get to start testing them. Eventually I will buy a FPP 16 but I'm buying items as I have money... 😁
Not sure what the average consumer buys, but I've been a big supporter of Boscoyo in the last few months. Seems each time I receive a box, I make another order 😂😂😂. Pretty sure the chromacanes I just received are the MAXcoro...

Your wallet is going to be crying come Christmas. haha. Two expensive hobbies! Both awesome though.
i would like to see how to set up a singing tree.
I need to order pixels, but I'll add it to the list.

Me too!
why don't you use the singing tree in your display?

Oh. This is mostly your fault, Jeff!
I bought the Pi4 2GB just because that's what was available. I think any of them will work fine for FPP. You'll need a real computer to run xSchedule.
That cough and last spray had me shooting coffee out of my nose.
Haha!
Great video Jeff, and I LOVE the singing tree...I wondered why he showed the other ones as discontinuing...

Jeff I looked on line to see if I could get a catalog is there a place on website I misses?

I don't think he publishes a catalog - only pictures of what's available on the web site. You might try calling after the holidays.

The singing tree. Was it ever used in your Christmas display?
Oh the one in this video? No, James sent that to me this year and I don't have pixels for it. I'll add it to the display next year.
👍 going to the website now...
James will appreciate it! Tell him I sent you. haha.
hey Jeff, do you see any problems using the new Mesmerizer Spinner from Boscoyo to display the animated GIF's or sing faces.
It's basically a round matrix so I'd think they'll look fine. I believe Clyde is working with one now so may have a video on it soon.
