As a seasoned professional mechanic, I've tackled countless starters in my career, ranging from small mowers to heavy-duty 24v models and everything in between, including BMWs, DeLoreans, and Fords. However, I must admit, this one takes the cake for being the most challenging by far. Despite the platform's reputation for reliability - my own starter lasting until 200k - the process of replacing it proved to be unexpectedly arduous. If someone had told me beforehand that accessing the starter would require removing either an exhaust pipe or a half shaft, I would have found it hard to believe.
You have far more patience and tenacity than I do. Your video convinced me this is not a DIY job.
Taking out the axle is a must..... I just did this job today. With the axle off. Took about 1.5 hr. It's a pain in the butt
What is a reasonable price to do this job?
Literally just had to do this on my brother’s Acura TL, it died on the driveway and wouldn’t start, did this exact same thing, good video 👊🏼
I’ve removed the axle before for this job. Total access to starter and the axle isn’t really that big of a deal to get out.
Why would you make a video on installing a starter, but not show the hardest part which is putting it back in?
once you take it apart, you know where everything goes. Just do the same steps in reverse. What else is there to show?
We have the same car color and everything lol. Saving this just in case. The cold NY weather is creeping in and my car has been starting slower than usual. Not sure if it’s just normal because of the temp, the battery, or the starter.
Temp and battery.
THANK YOU for saying the bolt size... no other vids say this
Just replaced mine. It was having slow starts for a couple months and then wouldn't start. After i replaced it i had one slow crank and no more. VSA light came on i cleared it still no start. Any idea what could be causing this? Also where is the ground for the starter located so i can check that?
Did you figure it out by chance?
This is the issue im having. Any updates?
Now that the videos, one year old, how’s the starter holding up?
Still running good!
Nice thanks for the feed back 👍
I just purchased the ultima select from autozone the description says the mfg is mitsuba which in hondas oem maker ok so hopefully it lasts cause wasn’t spending $500 at honda for one 😂
Good job
How many miles b4 it went out??
Right before 100k.
Having the same issue on my car and I’m just curious how much is the actual starter from Honda?
Not sure, we got one from autozone.
@@Jbonly21
Not a good idea bro, autozone parts fail within a year or so..good luck
@@westwood3286 very true got one from Napa that only last 6 months
@@westwood3286dam do they really? I allways buy my parts from there
@@Jbonly21 Where is that Autozone brand from Chinese or Korean?
What brand is the starter
Autozone
Is this this only video of civic repair tutorial on your channel??
Probably 3 Honda video.
I have the same car and thought i found savior
I have taken the starter out and put it back in now my cars over heating warning sign is popping up how do I fix that and I’ve already changed the thermostat and water sensor
Make sure you bleed it properly and check to see if your heater is working.
@@Jbonly21 I turned on the heater and it’s not working
@@Jbonly21 should I bleed it first then try turning on the heater
@kinghayes5010 a working heater is part of the bleeding process.2012 Honda Civic Thermostat And Coolant Sensor DIY.

Just did this and now my power steering light, and VSA system light is on, anyone run into this ?
Try disconnecting the battery, let it sit for a minute or two and see what happens.
@@Jbonly21 didn’t work,
U didn’t have to take out manifold connection or bracket
No
Bro where is your intake 😂
😂
yeah...something wrong with that jobby job there
