Dear Aklilu, I would like to respond briefly to your recent video. I think it is important to share my concerns about the message you have presented here. There is no denying that many Western countries, including Canada, are currently facing economic challenges. The influx of refugees and tight labor markets make it difficult for many to find work and affordable housing, leading to an increase in homelessness and other social problems. This also affects many Eritrean newcomers, who are having a hard time in the current situation. I worry that your message may unintentionally paint too rosy a picture of migration to the West. For many newcomers, the challenges are significant, and I think it is important to provide a full and honest picture of what may await them so they can make informed decisions. In addition, Africa appears to be becoming more attractive to some people, with Westerners moving to countries such as Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia and Togo in search of new opportunities or a different lifestyle. The world is changing, and perhaps the West is not always the best option. I am also planning to immigrate to Africa soon and I am so happy that I enjoyed this step and made a conscious choice.
