If only her sistership was saved, the USS Washington. During the Guadalcanal campaign, she became the only us battleship to sink an enemy capital ship in anger, when she blasted the battlecruiser Kirishima to Kingdom Come with her 16 inch guns

@@PJGGolfer The battleships Washington and South Dakota were sailing together during the Guadalcanal campaign,when South Dakota’s power went off. As South Dakota’s crew were trying to restore power to the ship, the Japanese Kongo class battlecruiser Kirishima showed up and began to blast the crippled South Dakota, and actually got close to sinking her. However, Washington snuck up to close range while Kirishima was distracted with South Dakota, and blasted Kirishima to smithereens from 4.7 miles, with her 16 inch guns easily sliding through Kirishima’s 8 inch armor belt. Kirishima was then sunk, as Washington sailed away victoriously to help out South Dakota.

I can't wait to go visit the battleship. My grandfather served on it for 6 years he was a medic. I have a lot of pictures of the battleship. I still remember all the stories he has told me about when it got hit by torpedo. He was a true hero. His name was Paul zaleski. He was a Polish immigrant.

Been there, its lit on the inside. they say it is haunted. We didn't hear anything, the models inside the museum are cool, walking up the board walk to board the ship was sketchy as fuck, but it was a nice view to see the city of Wilmington.
I have only been to Wilmington twice. It is a nice little town. walking along the riverfront is nice with shops and food.
What a fantastic view of the battleship; Being land locked here at home the biggest ship we see a rubber dingy floating down the river! Thanks for the share!

They should at least mock up two catapults on the stern the sea hawk looks out of place just sitting on the deck. they could even mock up the catapults out of pvc pipe and aluminum plating. the USS MASSACHUSETTS suffers the same way it too has the crane but no catapults which really looks odd on both ships

I remember going a field trips to see this amazing ship back in 1990. Took my wife and kids to tour the North Carolina almost a year ago. Still in great shape. Same for the Alabama. I can't say the same for the battle ship Texas. It's a sad sight. Thank you for the drone footage. Great job.

THIS WAS WHERE THE MOVIE ''AMERICAN WARSHIPS'' WAS MADE. THE SHIP IN THE STORY WAS SUPPOSED TO BE THE USS IOWA, BUT IS WAS ACTUALLY, THE USS NORHT CAROLINA. 3/21/22.

A MILITARY VETERAN TOLD ME THE NC BATTLE SHIP WAS STUCK IN 30 FOOT OF MUD AND THE PROPELLERS WERE REMOVED FROM IT AND USED ON THE BATTLE SHIP MISSOURI WHEN IT WAS FIRST RE COMMISSIONED

Iowa class BBs have different size screws. NC screws are smaller
She's not stuck, but purposely placed in the mud. It allows the ship from breaking free of her moorings during hurricanes and severe weather. Most notable hurricanes which Wilmington always experiences.

PJG Drones Is the USS NC battleship owned by the state of NC or is it privately owned? I live in NC not far from Wilmington. And do you know if they finished the construction of the cofferdam yet?
Drone Maniac - no idea. When I was filming as you can see. Work just began.
The State did a penny drive in the schools to save it from the scrap yard back around 60-61. I was in the fourth grade and it was a big deal for all of us since all of the Dads were mostly Vets of WW2.

New Jersey Class BB
The New Jersey is an Iowa class battleship. The North Carolina is the lead ship in the North Carolina class. North Carolina and Washington.
NC has a class of it's own.
