Brisket Guide for Beginners | First Cook

- Believe it or not, this is my first brisket cook after all these years. I have been nervous about doing brisket but decided to give it a go. To make it simple after trimming this brisket and adding my own all purpose rub (link below where you can buy my rub) I started this 19.37lb brisket at midnight at 200 deg. At 6:30 am it had reached 160ish degrees and then I wrapped it in butcher paper and put it back on the smoker at 225 deg. When it it 185 deg I bumped up the temp to 250 deg and let the brisket heat to 203 deg. Pulled it and let it rest wrapped for 2 hours and then cut in that steam juicy goodness. If you are afraid to try this like I have been, just do it, you got this!

Looks great to me.
It turned out perfectly Scott. Bravo my friend.
You too will be able to this with ease soon 😉
That looks amazing Scott!! I bet that was super super tasty!
Thank you sir and it was so super juicy and tasty. I always appreciate you my friend and thanks for being here always :-)
I was watching this as I was driving home and I was hungry. So much so that I pulled a brisket out of my freezer when I came in. I've cooked three of them so far and they have all turned out really good. I've tried three different methods This one looks really good! Great job!! 👏
Just don't butcher it on the one side like I did. I guess you live and learn and I won't make that mistake again. You have 3 under your belt so I taught you nothing :-) You're the pro!
Mouthwatering brisket, Scott! I'm sure you are hooked now!😀 Nice smoke ring, too! Those Smoking Pecan pellets are amazing!😋😋😋
That brisket was still tender and juicy today, two days later and yes, I am hooked :-) Thank you for watching buddy :-)
your first brisket sure turned out great.. nice job. that rub gave a nice bark. out standing job.
I know I butchered the fat corners a bit so I'll go and watch your videos to see how much to actually trim of. Thank you for the compliment :-)
Thanks for Sharing 👍👍✌ havent tried to cook one yet
Wow ! Very nice to challenge yourself! Thanks for the share
It was time to stop hiding and take the plunge lol. Thanks Sherry!
Fantastic cook, Scotty! The brisket looked absolutely delicious. When I did my first one, I didn't expect much, but it turned out delicious. I let mine sit in the cooler for around 14 hours, I think, and it was still hot when I cut it. Great video, brother 👍
Thanks Ron! I just wanted it to be good and not a total failure and it turned out better than I expected. I guess I can say I've crossed over and earned my bbq wings? lol Anyway brother, you know I appreciate the hell out of you always 🙂
Awesome! It's really easier than people think. The only issue I've had is once I left it in the cooler too long and it overcooked itself. Looks fantastic. Great job
That was my biggest fear...overcooking it and I am so glad that didn't happen. Thank you for watching as always :-)
That brisket looked delicious! Very juicy and tender! Knew you would knock it out of the park.
Thank you Bryson! I was really happy at how it turned out :-)
I have never cooked a brisket. Been waiting to try. this has inspired me to go for it. Thanks for the video.
I put it off for a long time as well, unsure if I wanted to tackle it. It's really not as hard as I thought. It's about the same process as a smoking a pork butt until tender. You got this :-)
Great job. It looks a lot better than my first brisket
I was surprised and it turned out better than I though. Your brisket video the other day, they turned out pretty good :-)
Winner winner!🍻🍻
Thank you! It turned out better than I expected it to for my first time.
That really is a huge cutting board
Got it from Ross a few years ago. They have cutting boards for cheap! Have Christina drag you there :-)
I jingle like that
I don't look at it that way :-)
Interesting! I've never seen those smoke tubes before. Looks good.
It adds a little to the smoke flavor. Great for somebody that doesn't have a smoker. You can use pellets in it or wood chips. It has to be a longer cook on a regular grill though. Don't use it while cooking hamburger and hotdogs which cook quickly.
Ya did a fine job lad, good to see ya getting into the brisket fun👍🏼🍺🇺🇸
After doing my first cook and it turning out pretty good I am definitely into brisket now. Thanks so much for watching!
@@MileHighGuyBBQ a couple more and you're gonna end up doing a Dozen for July 4th too😂🤣😂.....good brisket make ya famous
nice job Scott that a lot of meat enjoy
Thank you, it was still juicy and tender today when I ate it for lunch and the people at work enjoyed their share the last two days. Gonna freeze the rest and grind up the scraps to make burgers with.
I saw Dan
...and what was Dan doing? Nothing lol but then again he is the guest and he doesn't have to lift a finger :-)
@@MileHighGuyBBQ I did use my fingers grabbing food of the cutting board
@@MileHighGuyBBQ thats r Dan
My first brisket was an uneatable disaster.
@JustEatItReviews Trust me, I was very surprised it came as good as it did because I was looking for mediocre for my first time. I'm no pro at brisket but I was super happy how it turned out 👍
@@MileHighGuyBBQ I will be ordering some of your spice soon, gotta crash now.
