Since starting to listen to the music of the mbira, O have started to realize just how unfortunate it is that most Americans and Europeans don't know anything about this instrument. They only know about kalimbas which are usually seen as "easy to learn beginner's instruments" or toys. I myself have a kalimba. I think it's beautiful and deserves a better reputation. But this- the mbira- is far more amazing. It's truly a special instrument. The singer too. Incredible😊❤
Found solace in this music,helped me heal my brother's murder. It was almost spiritual comfort since she is in the same place with him. I feel connected to the African divine in this music. MBIRA FOREVERMORE!!!
The title was recorded on February the 26th 1988. Venue was "Die Börse", a club for about 800 spectators, in Wuppertal Germany. I worked as a FOH technician back then. Sometimes I took some recordings of the concerts. In 2016, I found some of these tapes by accident. A shoebox full of old, cheap compact cassettes, 30 years old but full of memories.
